Update on my P-47: I got the landing gear on to help protect the decals later. I improved the kit supplied actuators for the rear doors with plastic rods

And here she is up on her gear:

Oh and speaking of decals, here they are:

Well as you can see I didn't use the kit supplied decals. I did use the serial number, since I used bits of a Aeromaster decal sheet to mark it as a P-47 with the 9th AF. The instructions did help in providing placement for the stencil markings. Overcoat and a little weathering and she'll be done, perhaps on New's Day, minus the weapon plyons and fuel tank, which I forgot to paint with the aircraft Huh?

Guys I thought the group had slowed for the holidays, wasn't getting any emails, and have been thinking I should bump the group to the front again the last couple of days. Well I found the group emails in my junk box today Angry have no idea how that happened but now its fixed and will show up in my inbox again.

I just updated the front page with the completed builds from Spark84, TREYZX10R, and DJinFlorida. Each one is an outstanding build ! All that extra work getting these nice finished really pays off big time Bow Down

B-17Pilot Great save on the troubles with the alclad man Yes Shes back to looking sweet as ever.

Redraider56 no problem the changes will be made shortly.

Hope you all had a fantastic holiday ! And may we all find more time to spend at the bench this year.

P-47D is done! Well sort of, for some reason I didn't paint the pylons and drop tank with the aircraft, so they are getting painted now (primer is drying). This is a Hasegawa 1/48 P-47D with Eagle Strike decals to mark it in the 9th AF.

 Bottom:

As you can see from the holes, the pylons and drop tank are missing

Thanks for updating the front page.  The only thing is I didn't use Alclad.  I used  Model Master Metalizer Lacquer Aluminum Plate.  I'm still afraid of using Alclad. Embarrassed

DJinFlorida sorry about that Embarrassed The front page has been corrected. Nice job with the Model Masters Metalizer too !!!  Yes I tried that once and well it didnt work out well for me. I also really like the addition of the figure to your build.

B17Pilot the finish on your build looks flawless man ! Love the weathering and shade variances, and the 9th is a great choice for markings. Ummm Do you want me to wait for the pilons before posting the finished picture and creating your badge ? BTW I made the same mistake on a P-61 build I did a while back so you are NOT alone on that one.

The choice is yours, if you decide to, just use a pic where you couldn't see them even if they where attached.

The missing pieces have a nice alunmium shade on them now. Time to weather them a bit to match the rest of the aircraft.

Hi all, after a long "time off" I am back in the NMF race with my 1/48 Hobbyboss Mirage 3 cz in SAAF NMF delivery sceeme.

The airframe is nearing the final prep stage and my Alclads are "on the water" so hopefully it will be done shortly.

Mate I wish the Mirage was ready for final finish, but a way to go still. The airframe needs a good prime and sanding. Then if all the imperfections are gone , or atleast small enough for me to live with I will go the gloss black and grey for the Alclad.

It will be a mix of different pannels in airframe allu and some in pollished allu.

The red trim around the intakes and rear canopy is the same as on the Frensh AF birds with SAAF castles, these will have to be AM as the kit castles are incorrect in color.
