loads of ppl build mustangs on here and i can see why, what a lovely aircraft! and thts certainlt a biggie, Dogfish!!
Airfix P-51D Mustang.
Hope to be shooting the Alcad 2 shades of aluminum in the next couple of days.
Late start.
The choice is yours, if you decide to, just use a pic where you couldn't see them even if they where attached.
The missing pieces have a nice alunmium shade on them now. Time to weather them a bit to match the rest of the aircraft.
DJinFlorida sorry about that The front page has been corrected. Nice job with the Model Masters Metalizer too !!! I tried that once and well it didnt work out well for me. I also really like the addition of the figure to your build.
B17Pilot the finish on your build looks flawless man ! Love the weathering and shade variances, and the 9th is a great choice for markings. Ummm Do you want me to wait for the pilons before posting the finished picture and creating your badge ? BTW I made the same mistake on a P-61 build I did a while back so you are NOT alone on that one.
Randy So many to build.......So little time
vetteman42 updated the front page with the completed builds from Spark84, TREYZX10R, and DJinFlorida. Each one is an outstanding build ! All that extra work getting these nice finished really pays off big time

Thanks for updating the front page. The only thing is I didn't use Alclad. I used Model Master Metalizer Lacquer Aluminum Plate. I'm still afraid of using Alclad.

P-47D is done! Well sort of, for some reason I didn't paint the pylons and drop tank with the aircraft, so they are getting painted now (primer is drying). This is a Hasegawa 1/48 P-47D with Eagle Strike decals to mark it in the 9th AF.
Bottom:
As you can see from the holes, the pylons and drop tank are missing
Finally recieved my order of Milliput today so now I can get going on the flight crew for the B-29 !!! Time to cut repostion and fill with milliput. This is gonna be a first for me.
Guys I thought the group had slowed for the holidays, wasn't getting any emails, and have been thinking I should bump the group to the front again the last couple of days. Well I found the group emails in my junk box today have no idea how that happened but now its fixed and will show up in my inbox again.

B-17Pilot Great save on the troubles with the alclad man Shes back to looking sweet as ever.
Redraider56 no problem the changes will be made shortly.
Hope you all had a fantastic holiday ! And may we all find more time to spend at the bench this year.
Thats looking really sharp B-17Pilot,decals layed down nicely!
DJ: She looks great, can't help but love that checkerboard nose!
B-17: Sharp work, yeah - almost there now!
Update on my P-47: I got the landing gear on to help protect the decals later. I improved the kit supplied actuators for the rear doors with plastic rods
And here she is up on her gear:
Oh and speaking of decals, here they are:
Well as you can see I didn't use the kit supplied decals. I did use the serial number, since I used bits of a Aeromaster decal sheet to mark it as a P-47 with the 9th AF. The instructions did help in providing placement for the stencil markings. Overcoat and a little weathering and she'll be done, perhaps on New's Day, minus the weapon plyons and fuel tank, which I forgot to paint with the aircraft
Nice one DJ, very cool. !!
Looks real sharp DJ! Very nicely done Sir! cheers Trey
And she's done!
Thanks DJ!
Very nice work Trey!
Talentless thanks!
and a big thanks to Bigfoot01 who took the time to point out that the gear angle needed a tweak!
the fix, looks a lot better thanks John
looks damn good to me !!
I'm calling it done
Added some gunsight details
I used watercolor mixed with Formula'560' canopy glue for the id lights after drilling them slightly
also used the same canopy glue for the clear position lights
I used aluminum tubing for the exhaust and punched out disc for the pressure valve that goes in the outlet
cheers Trey
Spark a pair of beauties for sure, very nicely done Sir!
Cliff thanks appreciate that!
Trey: She looks good to me! I wouldn't have noticed the missing stripes if you hadn't told us about them.
Spark: Wow, love those diamond nose Mustangs! Really sharp work there!
...And... They're done!
