Eric, not sure why that Panther kit is going for big money. I thought it waqs still in production. Hannants still list it, though hey are currently out of stock. Though they may just not have removed it. I will keep an eye out for it.

Well, not really big money LOL. It sells for usually around $25 and up, plus shipping. I'm trying to score one for around $30 with shipping. The thing is, I have two Panthers and wouldn't really might another subject, say a Valentine or BT-7.

Guys- Thanks for the comments... really appreciate you taking your time.  This GB really rocks!  Now I am tempted to build another one. LOL  When is the deadline I forgot?

deafpanzer:  Excruciatingly small detail work you've got going there.Indifferent  I admire you guys that have the will...and patience to add that level of detail.  Did I ask (or have you posted) a picture of your proposed paint scheme?  If not can you scare one up and give us a peekWink

SMJ- Appreciate your nice words.  It has been fun!  Going for same scheme shown on the box.  But I felt it was too clean so I will go for "worn out" winter camo... you can say artistic license if you are all right with that? LOL  Found VERY FEW pictures of the actual #3... found only three pics so far.

Photos for discussion purpose only!

In my opinion I find the Tiger way too clean in the pictures!  LOL

malone duke:  Like I said it's a fine build...and it sounds like you're aware of the items I mentioned.  Give oils a try for the worn metal areas...it can be applied very thinly and it's forgiving too!  Hope you're off the meds and feeling better...BTW: Your next build is a Panther, correct?

Armor & Andy - I'm simply taken aback by your PE work. Just magnificant. I utilze the Mission Models tool also. Very handy indeed. I also have a couple of different pairs of PE pliers (Xuron and Tamiya) that I find very handy also.

Marc, Hinksy & Malone - Stunning, stunning and stunning. Just awesome builds.

My Armorscale MG34 finally arrived yesterday and I see that it is going to require a bit of creativity to mount this into the hull ball mount.

Andy: Dang, smoke dischargers are supposed to look like that!?! Wink

Glued grass to my base last night  but it's way too green, looks like a Tiger invading a golf course. Continuing to work at it......

Malone - hold da phone!   You're saying the Tiger one emblazoned with the letter 'C' is 72nd scale? A very fine job.  That might explain the paint thickness, as the photos are much larger than the real thing.

Marc - second complete - don't know how you find the time, or are you just very quick?  Maybe your presentation could be described as vignette?  Looks great, and that ground work is way cool - I too am curious to what you have used here.

Armor86 and Andy - nice close-ups of your PE work, incredible what has been done with the smoke dischargers.  Just got to love those Alpine figures, no doubt they are tops when it comes to 1/35.

I'll likely not be posting anymore progress until the new year.  I've got another GB deadline looming for the end of this month.

regards,

Jack

Sorry Malone, I typed in the wrong model. Embarrassed

Wingnut, I've been trying hard to get that Panther, but it goes for too much on ebay. Oh well, someday. I already have two Panthers: a G and an F in stash.

Andy and Armor86, great patience in the PE work. It's so fun to see all of your work come together.

Hi guys,

SMJ - I've participated in three GB's now and have built a total of 5 builds and I've always posted each completed GB build on the main Armour page as a lot of the guys on there don't even look at the GB section. I think it's always nice to show what's going on and being built on other sections of the Forum.

Saying that I wish I hadn't posted my Tiger yet as I'm not calling it complete until it's on it's base and is 100% complete! I have made that clear on my thread now!

Andy - she's coming on nice dude!

Wingy - I so nearly asked for that Panther A of yours for Christmas INSTEAD of that late G but I'm a total Zimmerit newbie and have never used AM zim in my life unless trying to add Zim effect to a 1/48 StuG III G counts! I'm getting more tempted to build my Panther now as a second build for this GB. I'm still TOTALLY stuck between the Elefant or Panther! Hmm

Cheers guys,

Ben Toast

In packing for the move I found a box with three Dragon 72s -- a KT (505th), a Tiger I with zim, and a Sturmtiger. I have a strange itch to try a "palmtop panzer..."

Malone-I didn't realize that your Tiger was 1/72...makes it even more impressive.

Armor86-PE looks great-it really adds to the build.  Are you using a PE bending tool and if so, which one?  Andy's PE work already has me considering purchasing "The Bug".....

Wing_nut - great looking tiger ii and figures ... deaf panzer ... know the feeling of limited bench time ... photos enclosed as I slowly move along ... rear fenders assembled and installed ... now the hard part is ... will they stay put .... Armor86

Smj:  you're right on both counts. I'll work on my thinning. And the cables got all jacked up. I was on meds towards the end of that one cause of my accident. I kinda just needed to move on to something fresh.

Tiger man:  I don't want to nitpick. Buts it was the dragon tiger mid. And in 1/72 scale.

SMJ- LOL!  You know me.  I think everybody here knows how slow I build.  I have a job and a family to deal with.

Marc- WOW!  third build?  Jeez, you are really making me look bad! LOL  I always wanted to get THAT kit... I have an older Dragon kit #6168 which I hope to build in 2013.

Guys- Thanks for the compliments about my Tiger.  Little update on the turret... upgraded the air ventilation using PE.  Looks much better now...

I will do my best to keep up with you guys!!! Thanks for looking...

Marc & Malone, great builds there guys. Thats a really nice scene you have there Marc, i would call it a Dio, but thats just me.

Malone, you have brought something to my attention i had no knowledge of, and no i want to do one of those 507 Tigers. The large letter rather than numbers really makes it different.

MAN it's hard to keep up with this thread!!!  So many projects I get confusedDunce...but I'm trying...

Hinksy: I like what I see but I noticed you started a post in Armor just for your build.. I'll surf over there and take a closer look.  That may be counter to the idea of this GB but for the others in armor it makes sense to have the comments directly with the project.

Tojo72: That Tamiya Early is HIGH on my wish list (Christmas list, in fact)  so I'm watching your build closely...excited to see what you make of her!

wing_nut:  Same as Hinksy...I expect you'll be starting a new post in Armor...you may have already...I'll go take a look!

malone duke:  I love the camo' on your Tiger.  Overall she's a fine build but I do have a couple comments:  #1: Your paint work feels "thick"  not so much on the camo, but the chipping and details have a noticeable texture.  You may want to lighten/thin things up a bit.  #2: The metal wrapping (I don't know the technical term) at the end of the tow cables right before the loop appear a bit too yellow.  I think they actually are the DK color you used but you either sprayed them in a differenet session or hand painted them...or maybe it's the contrast to the background.  Give it a second look.  Anyway, food for thoughtSmile Burger...and remember any finished build is a successful build, nice work!

Panther A, late... Dragon #6358, Premium Edition

Only thing that will be added to "the box' will be ATAK Models resin zim.

Malone: Nice 507 Tiger....no unit marking? Toast

Marc: Wonderful KT and base. Bow Down  The base seems to be missing something, maybe a section of fence or hedgerow? Huh?

Malone: The Tiger looks fantastic and the Panther looks like another winner there!

Marc: Wow! I thought your Tiger looked good before but she looks even better now with the figures and base in place. Personally I'd suggest as a title 'Smoke 'em if you got 'em' as a title though Wink

Andy: Great work with all the brass, love the co-axial MG. And sharp looking figures, I'm generally too cheap to spring for high quality figures like Alpine but they look so good painted up! BTW: are you going to post photos of the pirate pistol when you're done? Don't know what forum it would be but I'd like to see how it comes out.

Marc-the figures & base add a lot to an already excellent build.

Andy-I'm still in awe over your Tiger-the PE adds so much-I think a PE bending tool just got added to my Christmas wish list.

Hi guys,

Looking good!

Malone - thanks for the photos of the extinguishers - they will help a great deal Toast

I think it was you who mentioned the MG on my Tiger saying the muzzle was painted DY - sorry but I thought you meant the bow MG - the turret MG IS painted DY and will be corrected presently! Doh! Embarrassed

Lovely Tiger btw - perfection!

Andy - C'mon buddy, let's see some colour! If you paint and weather this to your recent standards he's gonna be the top build of this GB - GO ANDY!

Wingy - that KT looks great. I can't believe it's braille scale. Top job!
