Armor-you're continuing to make great progress-all of your PE work will look great on the final product.

Carl-fantastic job on the weathering and the detailing-it's the little things that make the difference.  The fact that you've finished this one means you have time for another build for this GB?

No progress on my end-I hope to make an effort next weekend to get some work done on the Panther.

Tojo - I know what you mean, man... I finally broke down and bought wheel masks. Tiger's looking good. I can't wait to see the winter scheme and how you pull it off.

Joe - Nice work on the welding. Goes to show how many ways this stuff can be done.

Armor86 - That's a ton of great detail. I didn't notice the spare tracks/brackets under the exhaust before. Neat. 

Ben - Bravo! You have every reason to be proud of your build. It looks sweet, and the pictures "the Godfather" took really show it off and bring it to life. I'm a little disappointed you'll be leaving the GB... but I'll enjoy watching your Elephant come together when you post it (in Armor?). 

Carl - You've really done something special there. Superior work all the way around. I've really enjoyed seeing it come together and I truly appreciate all the tips, techniques and words of wisdom you've shared along the way. Thanks! 

Marc - I know you weren't being serious... I'm the same way. It was my pride that was hurt... being an engineer and all. I had to sit there and figure out why my simplistic view didn't pan out. LOL  

Carl, simply maginificent finish you have achieved.  As has already been mentioned, great attention to specific details, particularly the chain - really lends character to your KT.  I might of wanted to see some rust on the tracks, or some sort of deep brown dirt on the lowers, just to tie it all together (this though is more a painterly idea as put forth by my art instructors from years past).

I'm afraid that I do have to agree with Eric here Bish - Elephants (or Elefant in this case) and Cats may be both Mammals but I'm sure the Elephant is not classified under the Feline banner. You'd need a damn big cat flap (Elephant flap)!  

No, this one will be built in the normal Armour section and blogged as per usual.

I will keep popping by here as there are a few build's on the go that are very likely to kick butt!

Clearly you have never had an elephant purring on your sofa. Comes in handy for grabbing the remote, but the foot prints are a pain to get out.

Well another weekend passes and I accomplished zip. Now I have to work 7 days in a row before Christmas Eve. I'll be lucky to get started again after the new year. Just not motivated right now.

Wow, awesome work going on here! I can't believe the semester's almost over for me, and I'll be done Thursday night with my finals, so Friday I will hopefully be getting started on my Panther. Can't wait to get going on it. Keep up the awesome work! 

Wow, there's some seriously nice work going on here.

I hear that part about work geting in the way, it's the silly season for us as well. No time at the bench for me for a couple of weeks, probably. I do however have pics loaded of how far I've gotten at this time. Not much to do really, weather and install the tracks and final dust. Pics will be from primer, basic camo to final camo and first dirt. Thanks for looking, and I still need to look at the last fifty(!) or so pages of this GB.

I guess I forgot to get pics of the final camo before I started dirtying things up, sorry. The subject I'm modeling supposedly rolled out the the Henschel factory and right into the thick of it, sans markings of any sort. The model is almost OOB, with the exception of the barrel,exhaust pipes and tracks. I have also added a few welds and some texturing here and there.

 The last pic also reveals what else is going on in my modeling world. I'll probably do a build post on the reg. armor side. It's a fun kit, got it from my wife for my birthday and couldn't wait to get going on it.

RBaer - Very cool!  I love the scheme. Is that Silly Putty?

Well fellas, I'm calling the Panther done. I still plan on including the commander over the next week or so, given how much time I can find at the bench. I'm sure I'll touch up little stuff as I find it or realize I forgot to do it. It was extremely fun to build a big cat again. 

Anyway, here she is:

CyberHobby Panther Ausf. A (Late) Black Knight Series. RB Barrel, Aber MG34, Friul Tracks, ATAK zimmerit. (Went all out for my first GB... )

Hope you like her. Let me know what you think, or what I could do better.

Hi guys. I don't (or haven't ) done any armor in the past but the work I see in this group build is nothing short of drop jaw amazing! There are some people at work who follow the aircraft that I build and I almost always say to whoever takes any interest in what I'm doing, "You think this is good? You should see some of the stuff the armor guys are doing online! Those dudes are on fire!"

Dave, ya know.... if you knew you were going to make a late Panther A so nice that it was going to be pointless to try and produce another... you could just said so and saved me a lot of work.  Well done. Really well done.

Now, having said that, i must plug away regardless...

The ATAK zim arrived over the weekend.  YIPPIE!  This is my 1^st experience with this brand.  The quality of the product is excellent.  The casting is very crisp and the fit is near perfect.  But it is thick and leans toward being brittle.  Cavalier brand zim, which is paper thin and very flexible while staying fairy strong, will be my 1^st choice of future product when possible. 

The minimal instructions tell you to sand the backing.  The pieces are somewhat sunken into the sheet and the back needs to be flattened.  Extra effort is needed to get it thin.  This is a schurzen panel with the back flat but not yet thinned.  If I go with the zimmed schurzen I will just use these as it won’t need the metal pieces from the kit.

He bolts around the fan covers are molded as nearly round and very thin so I added some resin bolts head as seen on the left.  All the zim panels are installed with some chipping added.

RBaur: Ohhhh love the weathering and those cool leopard spots or rings - whatever they are they look cool.

Marc: More nice work! Love the chipped up zimmerit.

Well, KT is together, working on tools now. The Dragon kit comes with the little PE parts for the brackets as well as the plastic parts with the brackets mounted on, I'm trying to fold the PE brackets but it's an exercise in frustration!

Plus I am fighting an urge to paint something olive drab.... must resist until the Tiger is done.....

I shot my yellow last night, not totally happy with it, but I will do red-brown tonight (time permitting) and see if it's a go.
