Any idea where I can get a curved plexiglass rod or tube to display my F-8 in flight?

What MM enamels should I use, it says gloss white for the bottom but that doesnt sound right and won't support pre-shading?

IS, VERY nice work on the rescribing of the panel lines on your Hun Stick out tongueYes Are you gonna make yours in NMF or in camo?

Professor, your Phatom looks real good. That camo scheme came out just right. Is that 1/72 or 1/48?

Pilot, If you dont like the look of Gloss White for the under surfaces, go with Flat white to build up some layers and then a top coat of Semi Gloss White for the final look. In scale it looks much more realistic than gloss on an operational combat aircraft.

Hi Prof.......this kit is in my stash about 18 years.....all is changed:girlfriends,home,dog.....so I've decided to accept the challenge of an another italian modeller who's rescribing a monogram f-8 crusader......This is the story........For the scriber I've only used a set of iron needle mounted on a pin vise and a ton of dymo labelling tape and also the super useful Verlinden etched template ....and some ciano to correct mistakes....here others pic....and link.....

I know what you mean about white. I’m painting the gear area of my A- 1D Skyraider for this GB and  it’s either too much or too little; drives me crazy! Fortunately, I don’t build many models with white in them; probably for that very reason.

professordeath

Making good progress there, pilot. Gawd!! Do I hate having to spray white...or any primary color for that matter. I don't know why they are so difficult to thin to my liking. Either too runny of clog the brush!

As for badge: I'd love to use one but I don't feel I've earned it. I don't even own a kit that would qualify as of yet. Plus, maybe we could get some other badge choices made up. Maybe an AF F4, 105, B-52, Huey!!

That reminds me...I have fond memories from my stepdad about Puff the Magic Dragon...does anyone make a decent kit of one?

Hey Mike, a good trick for white that I learned from an airline guy at a LHS many years back- do a misty coat or two of Flat White as a primer first, to give the top coat something to bite into,  then apply a top coat of your preferred Satin, Semi Gloss, or Gloss White.

Oh.... Prof...excuse me...my bad english is the cause of  misunderstanding.........Be patient!!To scribe right line I use Dymo adesive tape like a guide,or the Verlinden template .....the difficul is when the surface isn't plane or if the line to scribe is curve. After repass the line with the scriber a light sanded to clean the excess of plastic and at the end a light brushstroke on the scribed line with Tamiya Green cap Glue or better with metiletilchetone (called also weld ...or some similar...)Ciao Enrico.

On monday I'll post my scribing tools!!

a lot seem to have trouble with yellow and white. both gloss in these colors cause a headache also. i use to have a problem spraying white and yellow and the best thing to do is build it up in layers. light missed coats. i only airbrush tamiya and model master whites.

again slowly build it up. you'll get even results while doing this.

Yes, several light thin coats with plenty of drying time in between will give you better results.

Professordeath, I know what you mean by Jet Fever.  I never had an interest in jets, (I fly them for petes' sake) until my son started the Monogram A-7.  I thought to myself that hey that looks pretty cool.  So I started reading and that led to collecting and now I have 3 F-8's and one A-7 and an A-4 too.

Tcepilot, Hasegawa makes an A-7E/D that would work for this.  It's better than the HB version as it has some shape issues at the intake.  The Monogram kit ain't bad either.  It's also an E.  If you want an A or B, HB is it and intake be dammed.

I think I saw the monogram not long ago... hmm I think I'll try it for a first A-7
