lol mate, hang around here a while and your rocker will get up and walk away.

I need to clean up my bench, got about half a dozen hangar queens waiting to be finished, its reached the point where i now do my modelling stuff on the kitchen table and my work bench is for storing all my gear.

I just had to clean mine.  I kept losing little parts. lol...  I did manage to find the little piece to the tail wheel on my Corsair.  I had to get my Daughter to look with 15 year old eyes...  It took her about 10 seconds to find something I had been looking for for days...

On a happy note.  I made a lucky find last night.  I had almost given up on finding a decent Hornet kit when while searching through 925 hits on eBay, number 925 was this...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/150914202459?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

The Hobby Boss 1/48 F/A-18D kit.... :)  See sometimes Karma works for you....  It should be here in a week or so.

Don't feel so bad.  I can't even sit down at my current work area.  The Bench is too high, so I have to work in little spurts since I can't stand up very long.  The Corsair is almost ready for first paint.  I'll post some more pics later today.

Yeh.  I noticed that about 30 seconds after I hit Buy It Now and commit to purchase on eBay....  But I think I can get around that since there are no decals in any area that would mess with the extended canopy.  If not, I just wasted $30.  I found a few reviews on the Hobby Boss kit, so I am thinking of trying to find an AM set for the cockpit, that is supposedly  lacking in detail on that kit.

Dont sweat it sparrow, if it being a T-bird is the only major difference, i wont complain.

Just a reminder you got the question on the aircraft trivia quiz.

Well.  I looked up this kit online and it had a pretty good revue at most sites, with a few reporting the same lack of cockpit detail.    I didn't get an email saying I got the question so I looked in my spam folder and yup... Sure enough, Avast Mail Scanner put it in there again, despite all addresses in that domain being in the whitelist.  I'll send up a question in a few.

For those of you wondering what happened to the RAAF F-111's. Here you go. Might be upsetting for some.

That photo makes me sick. I'm sure it would have been cheaper for them to just park one in my back yard rather than doze them in. Don't we ever learn ???

Cheers

Hi Folks.  I got the Blue on the Corsair tonight.  So she will probably be in decaling tomorrow night or Thursday.  Question.  Could someone tell me if this will work with the Hobby Boss 1/48 F/A-18D kit I got... Please..

I know how you feel..  Millions of Dollars and all that time and work just so they can break them up and bury them.  I say they would take them out of the pay of whoever made the lame decision to break them up.  They might want to at least donate them to museums or non-profits who can make some money off of them.  Just destroying them is soooo wasteful.   Then again, the decision was probably made by some Government issue Pinheaded poindexter with a corncob wrapped in dollar bills up his backside...

And dont talk to me about government pinheads scrapping aircraft. Im still simmering over our strike wing being dissolved by uncle helen.

But, the local museums got as many skyhawks as they could for the cost of transport and refurb (about $30k, included removal of the cocoon, reassembly, and staff to transport and reassemble aircraft) The one down the road from me was hoping to get a single seater and a T-bird, they have the Tbird and the single seater on permanent load from the USN (i think) but they wanted a genuine RNZAF single seater. Theyre also (hopefully) getting one of the machis from 14sqn.

It would have been a nice addition next to the Lancaster in the Australian War Memorial as a sort of then and now exhibition.

Yeh, we have the same pinheads up here.  And they are just as moronic.  If you want to see something that would make you cry, look at the boneyard in Texas.

I got some work done today.  The Blue Paint is done, now just decaling to do.  The landing gear and engine/cowling/prop are also attached and the glue is drying as we speak.  The masking on the canopy came out perfect, which is a major event for me.. lol  I'm not sure on weathering yet.  I am not very good at it, which is why I usually do pristine (Off the Line) builds.  I'll see how it works out once the decals are on and I top coat it.  Here are the images from prep to completed..

Top view before pre paint finishing.

Bottom View prefinish. (Yes I know  still have the antenna masts and other tiny detail parts to put on.) lol

Canopy segments drying after a coat of Future.  Yeh, I finally got some.

Front Left view, prefinishing.  The Canopies are temporarily taped down tight to dry once glued on.  You can also see the masking.

Right View of the same.

Okay now for the big reveal.  Front Right View after paint and final assembly.

Front Left After final assembly

And finally, I tried to get a closer in shot from the back to see the cockpit a bit better and this is the best I could get with my el-cheapo camera.

Still a bit to go, but she's in the home stretch.

You forgot to cut a hole for the aerial mast behind the cockpit.

Otherwise looks really good. Easier paint job than i had.

Ah, in that case, fantastic job. That kits a nice kit to build isnt it? Although i found the flaps infinitely frustrating.
