Joe R Thanks bud... Were gonna give her hell!

Joe  (M) I got kind of lucky, The lower section of the body (below the top panels) held engine in place allowing a lot of guess work to be eliminated. (whew)

More pics soon!

Looking good Doug, it just wouldn't be modeling if it fit right the first......or second go. Wink

Nice work Doug. Really nice work! The only thing about this much detail using aftermarket engines is 1)They don't always fit the application even remotely and 2) the mounting is left entirely up to the builder. I installed a DB605 Aires engine into a Hasegawa 1/48 Bf109 G-10 and it took literally FOREVER to figure out how to get it to fit and mount up. I got it but looking back mine was a hack job. I've learned alot from that experience.  Keep at it Doug. The answers will come pal, Joe

As for mine I've spent a little more time trying to get my engine to mount up to the mounts. Its trying but patience is key here. Been a little under the weather this week so progress is slow.

Doug, I am really, REALLY impressed with your work there. You are doing a first rate job on adding all of that detail.

OK my friends... a bit more progress... Note to self, DONOT put exhaust on before fitting engine to frame. Oh well, take em back off. Also, no wheel wells... we make some!

Not in this GB but stopped by to see what's happening...lot's of great builds.

This...blew my mind Indifferent Very nice! You can almost smell the fumes from that engine.

That's some nice progress you made there, Doug! Can't wait to see more. I have no time for my projects in here atm. I need to finish my Wildcat before I can start working on them again...

Hang in there with it Bill! I can't say that I had the same issues as you with your kit but mine gave m plenty of grief in the beginning. Looking forward to seeing some pictures. Sorry about your dog and house.

Dog is fine now. House can wait (hey, got models to build, right?) Took care of former employer issue (they'll never find herWhistling ) -kidding-. Fixed my off-center cockpit problem (got brave and BROKE it out, all good. But my issues are far from over. wait til I assemble fuse halves. gonna be F U N ! if I wasn't building this for a friend and in this GB, I'd be done and so would the plane Dead

I've built other old hasegawa kits that were great (my spitfire for example) but this one . . . . .?  I'll just stay clear of any similarly labeled hasegawa kits.

promise I'll post some pics and have more cheerful news tomorrow. thanks guys

Bill.

not good here, broke canopy while cutting rear deck area out. fixed that.

while measuring slot where rear deck should be, held fuselage too close to halogen desk lamp, putty-sanding, putty-sanding, .....fixed

glued cockpit into half of fuselage, discovering it should have some space on both sides, too late, already glued flush to one side

I'm tellin ya, I have one of hasegawa's worst made kits here. fun, fun, fun

but hey, I feel better just having you guys to vent this stuff on. (like the wife would understand?)

Past week we had SICK dog, major issue with a previous employer not letting me have my 401k money, found water damage to my house from all this effing rain.........

Still not giving up though. I'm going to make this damn butcher bird look like the killer that they were if it kills me

Thats a really good job on that motor! It's interesting to see how the different manufactures of AM stuff build their engines. Airies has the best in my book for accuracy in scale and detail. Looks like lots of parts and goodies on there too. Nice job Doug.

LOLOL... You guys are the best! Love this group... Sense of humor here is what makes it easy to keep building and posting!  Joe... Love the engine kit! I plan on trying to find another, and in 1/32 if possible.

Happy Memorial Day folks!!

I think with the new forum software there is only so much room for static badges. I am guessing this was done to help speed up the loading of threads due to some folks with lower bandwidth than others as a lot of pictures and images in the signature area will slow it down. I think that is why you see a lot of people using some kind of program to create .gif's out of multiple badges that slowly scrolls through them all. I've done it in the past and its not that hard, I'm just not crazy about the scrolling badge thing. Then again, you can just take Joe's approach and either not finish the GB on time (which admittedly I may have possible done a time or two Whistling)

Indeed, May you all have an excellent Memorial Day while you are expressing your deepest gratitude for those who have sacrificed in the name of our freedom.

The best solution for the badge issue I have found so far is to participate in a GB and just not complete it in time. No Badge, no issue.Whistling (Seriously, I do not do that on purpose)

Doug. I have been having the same problem with posting GB badges to my signature block. I get the same maximum 512 characters warning. Somehow I sneaked the Fw190 GB badge on there and still don't know how that happened. Will probably have to PM Tim on this issue. I've been meaning to do that.

Help! Cant find the answer in FAQ. how do I (1) clean up my signature page where poster has removed pictures and now states "unavailable" and (2) post updated badges... It states only 512 characters allowed, and wont allow to post and I have no idea what that means or how to change. Thanks guys,

Doug
