Joe: Damn right! Master all the way, mate!!!
Now i just have to find 7 sets at a good price (they are useless for the Dragon and Tamiya kits and I already have one set here...)
Nathan TThese parts come from a Master Model brass cannon set I had laying around.

Hmmm, all I've done so far as guns to my Dora, Greg, is installed the base of the 20mm wing root cannons inside the gearbay, as they get sandwiched in between the 2 wing halves at the leading edge. These parts come from a Master Model brass cannon set I had laying around. They will have to be hand painted gunmetal once everything else is airbrushed. The Barrel tips I will add last when the build is finished. These will come from brass tubing (.8mm O.D.) which is already hollow(.6mm I.D.)
SchattenSpartan Yeah, I thought about using brass tubing for the barrels on the Hasegawa and Dragon kits, but the Eduard kits kinda scream for proper AM replacements IMO...

So Nathan, a few pages back you mentioned drilling out the barrels with a .015" bit. Were those the kit styrene barrels or tubing? Inside the wells, they look like styrene part.
If I already asked you this, apologies, been a goofy couple of weeks.
I hear ya Clemens. As far as wing barrels, just use brass tubing! one length of tubing will last multiple builds!
Great work, Nathan!
I was looking at that prop set as well, but I decided not to get it. I'd have to buy one for every Dora I'm building and I jsut don't want to by 5 of them... I'm not even sure if I want to order a set of metal barrels for every 190 on my bench...
Sorry Nathan. I meant to comment on this earlier and got sidetracked. I wished I'd known about this prop and spinner set up before hand. That looks awesome!! Will install on my next D for sure!!
Thanks guys. Fusion has some great prop/spinner kits, and they are molded really nice and thin on the blades. No pour stubs either and minimal clean up. They are listed at Ultracast's website, and are priced down right cheap compared to other manuf.
Greg- I'll have as close up finished shots as my camera will allow. Brake lines are a must for me now! They add so much realism, as long as you dont' make them too big and outa scale.
Looking good, Nathan. I like your brake line, well worth the extra work. Hope you post a close shot of it down the road after it's painted up, I want to try this sometime.
Nice prop! I'd never heard of Fusion either. Love that jig. Very cool thing to include with the prop/spinner kit!
Dang Nathan, that is some fine work there. I like the replacement prop and had the same issue with the back of the blade touching the cowling on both of mine. I installed a very thin spacer behind the prop hub to just move it out a fraction. I've never heard of Fusion Models but I like what I see!!

plastickjunkie mustang Thanks for the effort, Nathan beat you to it.

Thanks for the effort, Nathan beat you to it.

The covers were a bit fiddly to fit. I had to slice and carve the outline and a lot of sanding on the underside of the cover to make it fit. I will be fitting the intake later today which took just minimal sanding and trimming to get a good fit.
Nathan
Excellent work on those lines, they really add detail to the gears. I want to add some plumbing to the wheel wells and wonder if you have any pictures of them.
Thanks for he spinner picture. But I do see a slight lip around the hole in the prop hub as though the muzzle is barely clearing the hub?
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Hey Chanter. Thanks for the comments regarding the GB man. I'm working on an SBD Dauntless right now and had to mix the middle color (a light or intermediate blue) for the tri color scheme. I mixed more than I thought I would need for just the problem you are having out of the yellow on yours. You'll get it I'm convinced but it sure helps when you have some "on tap". lol
Jester75 Hey pj, I meant to give you some props on your progress with that Dora but this GB moves so fast sometimes, you get behind on what you have seen!!

Hear hear! It is easy to lose track of comments in this GB for sure. Mustang, you created a monster; I hope it's your first of many to come.
Thanks to all for the kind words a few pages back. Joe (Rix) my stand has certainly earned its keep - I use those Dollar Store bamboo skewers for everything.
I tried last night to replicate my yellow, as I completely forgot that the fuselage band will cover the back of the canopy. (D'oh!!) As I said earlier, another rookie mistake, but hey, I'll chalk it up to another learning experience I guess. I guess I'll just have to experiment with the mix until I get it right....then write it down!
Nathan - pretty mean is right. Those blades are huge; love it.

I think it does Nathan. If not I have another book that definitely does. Man this is addictive....now I'm gonna have to have Volume 2!!!!
So does Volume 1 have some D-11/13s in it too?
Way to go Nathan! I was just getting ready to upload a fairly similar shot. This ones better though. Its in color.
Just finished off a 3 hour night bench session and figured I'd post some pics while i stil have my second wind goin! Got the landing gear and doors on last night and scratched some brake lines:
...And for the big wooden paddle up front, we have:
Fusion models wonderful resin! I always sheet-can my Eduard props and spinners cause I dont' like them, they are a bit wrong and if you don't carve some off the back of the blades they touch the front of the radiator, which isn't right on the real thing. This nice set even comes with a jig:
Looks pretty mean huh?:
Plasticjunkie- This might give you an idea of the spinner opening on the D-13. There's really no protrusion of the blast tube. Looks about like a 109G-10 would. Here's the real machine if you haven't seen it yet:
..along with a head-on shot of it restored:
John , You've done some really remarkable work on your 190. Good Show.

plastickjunkie mustang1989 No problem plastickjunkie. If you have any more questions or need any more pics I have the friggin "Bible for Doras" Volume 1 and am working on obtaining Volume 2 from Jerry Crandall. This thing is phenomenal! Mustang I will take you up on that help. I'm doing the D-13 which had a 20mm cannon firing thru the prop hub. Would the barrel be proud of the hub tip or would it not be visible thru the prop hub hole? I was getting ready to add a brass pipe for the barrel and this question popped up in my head.

Hey pj, I meant to give you some props on your progress with that Dora but this GB moves so fast sometimes, you get behind on what you have seen!! I like the way you attached those covers and it looks it worked out perfectly for you! I also notice how differently the intake attaches on yours than Eduards D-9's. I think I like yours better as both D-9's I have built had a bit of an awkward fit here with the base of the intake being a good bit larger than the hole for it in the fuse.
Hey falcon great looking butcherbird. Like those cannons.
You did some exceptinally good work on your 190, John! The weathering looks spot on!
falcon
That paint job looks superv! I like the weathering underneath, looks just right.
My supercharger came out fine, no complaints so I did not see a need for the extra expense.
John, that looks terrific. Inspirational, my friend.
Good work so far John!! Now THAT'S upgunned!!!!
Thanks Ridgidrider.
