Hi Bish, please delete my F-6f and P-51 from the register, I will just not get to building them this year.

Sorry

Its good to hear from you Ernst. I know what you mean about getting back into it. When I used to go on deployments I thought I would get back to the bench rearing to go. But it often took me a while to get back into it. I am glad to hear your still planning to do that build, I am really looking forward to seeing that, I know we both enjoyed bill's build of that kit. And I still need to get one of those as well.

Dang!  I haven't posted anything in this GB since January!  Embarrassed  Sorry Bish and fellas, I had to move a few months ago and am just now getting back into modelmaking.  The move kind of left me in a funk and even though my work bench was good to go last month, my head and heart just wasn't into it.  I tried finishing up a Panther F for Eric's Steel Cats GB, but I messed it up, which left me in another funk.  Dead

BUT, I'm still committed to building that gift Dragon Neubaufahrzueg.  Before I start that I want to do a quick, simple build first to clear out the modeling cobwebs and also practice on a dunkelgrau paint scheme.  Hopefully that will get me out of my doldrums and inspire me for this GB!

Bish, I've been making slow but steady progress on the D.VII. Should have some pics of where I'm at up soon.

I know this one has slipped down the pages a bit, so thought I would bring it back to your attention guys and see if we have any more progress. Just over 3 months left on the build, so hopefully we can get a few more completed.

Bish

Nice to have you aboard mate. Sounds like an interesting build, I think I saw a Cutlass built a while back, certainly a different looking aircraft. Look forward to seeing your.

Thank you sir!  And keeping with the theme of the GB, I will try to post pics with my daughter helping me (or at least watching me)!  Thanks!

Hey Bish,

Would like to get in on your GB here if that is possible.  I like your theme and idea behind the GB, so I asked my daughter to pick one of the kits she has gotten me for Christmas or birthday.  She picked the one that "looks funny!"  So, I'd like to enter with the Lindberg 1/48 F7U-1 Cutlass!  It was a Christmas gift from her this past Christmas.

thanks treasure ship is on hold while i have a  5 committed builds to finish (3 helos for an exhibit, zsu-23/4 and 1/350 DD) and nationalsd this week. won't be done by the end of the year but i plan to have it ready to rig. going to try washing the decks with artist oils. every single little part has seams and sink wells to clean up. she will sit on a walnut base on 4 2" long brass tubes with big bolts securing her. wanted it higher but than the case won't fit in my car.

Here's an update on my Jag XJR-9LM at long last.  The interior and chassis are done. The next thing is to paint the purple parts and decal the body.

Cheers

Tony

That's looking really nice wayne. I think I would try a practice wash on something else, maybe the inside of the hull, before committing to doing the outside.

hull is finished except for some touch up. the black and red are brush paint enamel and the lower hull is brush paint mma panzer ineterior buff, which was very trhin, overpainted by 3 coats of brush paint vallejo ivory. white would have been too stark. red took a bit of a beating while handling this beast. enamel took forever to dry. not sure if i am going to wash lower hull with dark green

I am sure we have all been through phases like that Theuns. The 0/400 was a real struggle to stick with.

But it does sound like a good excuse. I am happy with it.

did you buy one as a reward for doing something or finishing a project? that counts as a gift to yourself from "an interested and interestring person".

Hi guys, I have to shamefully ask that my F-6f hellcat be deleted from this GB. I have lost my modling "***" lately and this plane is driving me bonkers with the poor fit. This leads to loads of filling and sanding and some of the raised detail gets lost. I have therefore re-boxed it till another time and am concentrating only on nice easy "shake and bake" kits for now.

The only other "gifts" I have are the ones I bought myself, so I doubt if they count LOL!

It was a fun build though, thanx

me too. got the red trim painted on the other side. will start masking and painting the black tonight or wed. probably start with one area and see how the tape does. will brush paint the black with enamel too. used to acrylics drying real fast, and faster with a hair dryer..

i set it on a book case in my study and looked at it this morning. i think i like it.. i will second coat the red freehand and tape it after it dries to get crisp lines. may even airbrush the black. why not it's alreadyt partially taped. lower hull is ivory to simulate white lead. may strak it with a dark green wash and may add some salt crust allong the edges. finally finish will be with a semni-gloss to give it a little shine.

just painted the port side strakes red and the rest of the hull will be black but not sure if i like it. will paint black on sun amd decide if i am going with this or if i am going to strip it down and paint the hull just black.

painted the black and i think i like it. this is acrylics and will use enamels for a second coat since enamels tend to brush paint large areas better. shouldn't be a problem painting enamel over acrylic.

the sails will be red too.
