Bish

Another tip, i usually put a dap of glue onto some sort of shiney paper and then take the PE to that. And i have a fine piece of wire to hand in case i need to add a touch more glue.

I have a piece of wire embedded into the end of a sawn off chopstick as a handle, for the same purpose.

Nice tip. Its amazing how often we miss the blatantly obvious. Or is that just me.

There is an article over on Hyperscale that discusses all of the short comings of the Cyber Hobby Sea Vixen, but I'm not going to let it dissuade me. There are too many fixes required, so I'm just going to build it.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I think so yes, i get PE for just about every build i do. But just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use all of it. All PE is flat, so things like brake lines are not really very realistic, i have taken to useing fine wire. And depending on the scale, sometimes PE can be to thin. In 72nd scale it isn't often a problem. Things like levers in cockpits, which again are flat in PE, i can get away with. But in a larger scale they might not look right.

My big tip for using PE. Do it in a room without carpet. Smile

Keep a bright light handy for when you get down on the floor.

Use a straight edge to make sure your bends are good, if you need to make any.

Cheers

Tony

Ditto To all of the above. I reckon my carpet must be more metal than fabric by now.

I've never used PE before, just looking for something to make it a little easier for me to get used to it.

I have used their 72nd belts a few times. I really like them. If your used to PE belts, they are just the same, but of course no need to paint them.

Has anyone used Eduards colored seat belts? I'm thinking of using them instead of the ones that come with the kit. I'm talking about these: www.eduard.com/.../P-61A-gun-turret-S-A-1-48.html

I nearly jagged a Cyber Hobby Sea Venom on Friday night too, but I'm already in serious GB backlog so I'll just keep it to the Sea Vixen for now.
