Trey and Stoutfella , outstanding work on completing both your builds gentlemen ....Toast

My progress has been a little slow on the HH-43 build but slow progress is better than none .

I airbrushed the interior pieeces with some Gunze H-57 aircraft gray

Here's three pic's of the cockpit and cabin section glued into position

main cabin ,

Cockpit ,

Next up I'll glue the fuselage halves together and add the rotor housings and twin tail booms .

Cheers,

Sorry no photos yet, I've been working on it today and hopefully will have pictures this week. I don't feel like I've made enough progress to show you guys anything, the booms and wings consisted of 15 or so pieces each, but that's because the flaps and control surfaces are two pieces. I'm hoping to get the majority of the cockpit interior painted during the Super Bowl. I'm a slow builder, but it is coming together!

SF - That is a great looking P-38...

I would like to join this GB if possible. I have a trio of MonoRevell P-38s and the old P-61; but saving those for a period of more available time and patience. the only other twin boom in my stash is the CyberHobby 1:72 Sea Vixen, already on the roster. Multiple builds of same kit ok?

Cheers.

Vance - I had financial problems, I bought my P 38 off Ebay cheap. Even so, I wasn't sure I should get it. Now, I'm glad I did. However, It's not my best work, I admit, I make mistakes, but it's a 40 year old monogram kit, but it was a learning experience. In the end, it will go the way of the 1/1 P38 it's modeled after. A Major "borrowed" it and crashed it leaving the plane totaled it and him a KIFA. I'll do a dio, with it crashed and a new P-38 for a replacement. I'm not going to do Monogram next time though.

Pics are on their way everyone.

The latest on "JEANNE" It's not done, I need to touch a few things up on it yet. It's not my best work. Too many things didn't go right.

Been there buddy - was laid off for the better part of 8months 4(?) years ago. Paying for anything that I didn't deem a necessity darn-near made me sick to my stomach. But I found I really needed some "scale model therapy" to keep me sane & working on a project of some sort.

I'm playing catch-up in the GB - what problems did you have with the ol' Monogram kit?

Vance - The biggest thing was the booms not aligning up right,as well as the main landing gear doors being warped. The Canopy top won't close as I glued it in the open position because the hinge broke the 2nd time in moved it. Also the gun bay door did the same. I didn't glue it because I put too much time in on the guns.

Oh well, If I'm not standing to close to it, I can't see the flaws either Big Smile I'm just going to chalk it up a learning experience.

Vance – your GB ran during my latest long absence from the bench… I have 3 old monogram/revell P-38s which I started about 5 years ago as a “project”. I am waiting to get some more of my patience back before I re-start that project  : )

Ken – nice work on the P38. I remember getting Squadron canopies for my “project”; clear parts for that old kit are very thick and ill fitting. I also vaguely remember an article in FSM many years ago describing an alignment “rig” for twin booms.  I could not dig it out of the web site with the search function

This is a good page on the old 1:32 scale Revell P-38

Thanks JMart. I'm too critical of my work. This project didn't turn out as well as I planned.

Oh well, like they say, "Live and Learn"

I'll take a couple of finishing pics tonight and get them posted

I've been getting to know a girl too so whenever she has free time we've been doing things. Bought a bunch of paintball stuff and was in a tournament last weekend. Paintball has been hitting me hard this year and theres still snow on the ground!
