Thanks Ken, sorry I forgot to mention it's their 1/48th scale kit.

As I indicated in the other GB thread I will make a T-34/76 1943 Mod. in 1/35 scale by Tamiya. As a proud AF retired guy I must say the GB badge looks outstanding; great Job Ken and thanks for inviting me. Looking forward to learning more and enjoying the work of everyone!

Here's the pics of the Sherman. Kind of side project to get me back into armor after so many  airplanes. Enjoy!

Very nicely done Mike!  Great job on weathering it!  It looks like it just rolled off the battlefield!

Cool MikeM, I love Shermans!!!

Ken: Could you put me down with a HobbyBoss F4F4 Wildcat in 1/48th too? The paint schemes are close enough I'm thinking about doing a duo build with the Hellcat.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I had a good time doing this and learned more as always. This will not be my last Sherman as there are so many others to make. It may not be as cool looking as a Panther but these tanks helped win the war with their reliability, simplicity and the brave men who fought with them!

Just fixing to hit the sack. Got a bad cold yesterday and looks like this weekend's going to find me holed up in my room popping sudafed and drinking tea, (with a bit of brandy) I'm sure to get started on my tank though as I feel like a kid on Xmas morning waiting to open that box!

Hmmmm......hope for a speedy recovery, Mikey!

Guess I'll make the official move over here, though I will most likely have the A-7 tacked up on the wall of fame for the first Berny Build, when it is done. Getting close now, but these last bits seem to take the most time.

Speaking of photos, the tarmac arrived today:

And a couple of quick test shots.

These shots aren't great and my overhead light is zonking out on me. Once the weather gets above freezing and I get some natural light, I can experiment more. Need to get some sort of back ground behind it.

And a shot with flash. I think the Phantom looks cool on it.

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Hi Mike,

I hope you have a speedy recovery.  Man you just got over the flu and now this.  We look forward to seeing your progress on that tank though!

Very cool pictures there Jim!  I am looking forward to seeing what you can come up with when you get a chance to use that tarmac with outside lighting!

Indeed, Happy Birthday Berny!

MikeM: Hope you feel better soon too. Crazy weather here, warm yesterday, light snow today- it's going to have me sick soon too.

Jim: Nice looking Phantom! And the tarmac is cool! Funny looks almost like mine but mine didn't come with the foam backing- it's just a sheet of cardstock. Maybe yours is the upgraded edition?

Pulled my kits out to come up with a plan of attack. Glued some of the cockpit together. I really need to work on other stuff but it's hard to resist starting yet another model!

Hey Jim I love that tarmac......and the Phantom's not too bad either! As far as this cold goes I don't understand what's going on with me this season. I normally have better luck getting through the winter but not this time.I did spend some time at my bench and managed to get all of the road-wheels put together before the nyquil kicked in. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

The Tarmac is made by 3wire Design and it's pretty nice with the foam core stock. I even like the fact that it's sort of offset at an angle from the sides of the base. I think the other mentioned was Verlinden? What ever brand, I like how setting an aircraft on one kind of gives it perspective.  Wish I was crafty enough to create and entire shelf to display several aircraft.

In the meantime, I glossed those avionics doors and then did a wash to bring up the detail. (yes, everything looks yellow!

As to what my next build will be? Still undecided, but I did do a little work on the F-15E cockpit PE parts. (the two little silver parts there actually belong to the A-7 avionics doors, but I just stuck them to the tape to keep them safe.)

Other possibilities could be my other works-in-progress, such as the F-105G or the RF-4B. (pictures later)

Not to mention that I also acquired cockpit sets for my F-4E and F-4F Hasegawa kits (am I ready for another Phantom?)

I need to turn in, so there will be more photos later

Nice work Jim!  You really do an excellent job putting on those washes.  Yes  Yes    The detail just pops and and it does not look muddled.

Hi there! Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Mr. Moron! I do stupid things!

The small PE parts I folded and then stuck to a piece of tape for safekeeping....the ones with the prepainted surfaces....not the smartest thing:

They are suppose to represent the wedge-shaped white part with the black round part on the front of it shown on the door you see below. Not sure what they are but I will have to repaint them white and forget about the small detail painted in the center....Bang Head

Jim: Shouldn't be too hard, I always have to touch up the pre-painted PE parts a little.

And yeah my tarmac is the Verlinden version.

Bummer Jim!  I know I wish many times I could some how go back in time and warn myself of the mistakes I make.  But that is how we learn.  It just sucks some times!

Yeah, it would be nice if we could go back in time. I would warn myself about a few things: a couple of relationships I was in, a car I bought, a person I shouldn't have lent money to....

Hey All,

I came across this link for a flight simulator (apparently Falcon 5.0) that seems to have a lot of useful information about various aircraft cockpits and their controls and displays. Check it out and see if it's any use to you.

Very cool Russ!  It appears to be fairly accurate.  I only checked out the F-4 cockpit since I am intimately knowledgeable about it after working on mine for so long.  They do incorrectly referrence the Optical Sight as a HUD.  Other than that it seems to be pretty close.
