Good looking Sherman BB. I like it. Reminds me I must get around to it.

Cheers

Tony

My Spitfire kit along with a couple bottles of MM Acryl paint finally came in last week, I studied the instruction guide and found I need to buy more paint needed of what I don't have. In the meantime, I have started working on my P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop kit. So far I painted the parts needed for Zinc Chromate (cockpit, wheel doors, wheel wells, etc...).

Bish - got the base coat on the figure, painted the base flesh color, then the in-laws came back so I have to stop.  I'll do my best to finish it tomorrow, sir.  Sad

Unless, stik has me do other stuff to it, which he almost always does, and then . . . who knows?

LOL  Well, I've glued arms on the figure since the last post . . . then I thought I'd have some coffee but I'll forego that and get back at it now!  Wink

Well, my advisor doesn't seem to be around so I'll just post these now.  Here's the Sherman with some ropes replaced by foil straps, tie down staps for the tanker's bar, .50 cal, and tracks.  What else do you guys think it needs?  Only the figure and hatches left to do.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh nice work guys!!!!!

I have the treads on the Churchill. You remember me raving about how easy the complex suspension went together? I knew there had to be catch somewhere! The rubber band tracks in the kit though very nicely detailed are about an inch / 3 cms too short! You can pull them to try to make them fit but I couldn't find any way to hold them till the epoxy I used dried plus I was afraid it would pull something out of whack. So I ended up putting them together with sewing thread leaving a big gap which I rotated up under the track shields so it's invisible. You can't see the problem now but still the rest of the kit is A++ quality, how could they screw up something like this? Unless it's a hint to buy the fiddly bits link tracks???

Here's a few pics with the gun installed, minus the sight.

The model's been basecoated with Tamiya's rattlecan Desert Yellow.  I'll be adding chocolate brown and olive green for camoflauge.  The markings will include Balkenkruez the 2-3 side bins, white outlined black "1143" on the upper sides and rear doors and 12.SS-HJ division emblems on front/rear.

I also still have interior details to add.....

Can't wait to see that Greg, and looking forward to seeing how it builds up. I have plans to do mine next year so will be looking for some pointers.

I spent two-hours painting the tires on the road wheels for the Stummel this morning.  The gun was finally installed, minus the sight.  Pics to follow tomorrow, after I get off work.

Thanks for the heads up on that Stik.  I was planning to do a Coral Sea build and was just over admiring your work on this thread.  I've opted to stay with the doped aluminum for the interior colour though.  Hopefully I'll get some pictures posted on the near finished cockpit soon.  Do you recall the thickness of the styrene you used to shim the wings?

Rob, I did the same thing with my build of that same TBD kit last year. But due to the angle of the wing join (not a straight edge) you have to use two.

Thanks Shiv.

I didn't know if it was just as simple as it looked.  I'll give it a try when the time comes.

Nice work here guys. Good piece of work with the shim, Shiv.

Primed my Tiffie, really just a couple of panel lines to fix so not too bad.

Cheers

Rob. It is pretty easy I just took a piece of strip styrene of a width that matched the gap and cut it to the length I needed than glued it with Tamiya liguid cement. Once dried just sand it to smooth it out. I used a piece of .010" x .040" stirip styrene.

Hi Shiv.

I know I am going to have a similar fit problem with the wing on my Devastator.  Can you explain a bit how you go about shimming the wing?  I've never done anything like that before.

Shiv, shim work like that usually does the job and is not too difficult at all. Nice save there!
