Shiv: Great work on the Momsen! She's looking very good! The SA-2 is coming along nicely as well!

Greg: The Bloodhound looks really good! Nice work!

Tony: I love the look of your AA tanks! The camo on the Wirbelwind looks ace and the Kugelblitz is a beauty as well! Nice progress on the Möbelwagen (I love my german keyboard for enabling me to spell that right!) too!

I'll start work on the M16 tomorrow!

The dio has to wait untill I decide on a few things (how many figures if any, winter/summer, 251 D or C) I'm currently leaning towards 5 figures (1 driver, 4 crew members for the gun) all sitting in the haltrack (maybe one of them standing at the back) in a winter scene on a dirtroad (more like a mudroad....) with panzer gray vehicles that are whitewashed. I still have to get the figures though. Any tips?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I've got a bit of a mission going with these now. I want to keep it visually interesting with varying camouflage and even different pioneer tool configurations, so it doesn't seem like they all came from the same kit. I might add some more stowage as we go too.

Cheers

Tony

With the Mobelwagen, you could do the actual vehicle that was built, which was just dark Yellow with no camo, or you could do a what if scheme and make up you own.

Ok gents!

I got a bit of work done on the M16 today and I thought I might show you some WIP pics. It's not much, but believe me: The mold lines on the "frame" everything sits on top of were a royal pain to remove.

I still have to add 2 more parts to the engine. They are already cleaned up, but I want to add them after painting. Do you guys have any pics of the engine/transmission/drive shaft of that vehicle? A pic of the bottom of the halftrack would be a great help as well...

Cheers, Clemens

Nice progress so far Clemens. I found this page which has a couple of pics you might find useful.

Great work everyone!  Lots of great kits and builds happening here.  Looks like taxtp is the first to earn the badge with 2 ducks and is working on his third!  Again, great job everyone!

I had two different deliveries from two places today.

My Ostwind conversion arrived, I now know why the postage and kit was expensive, you get a Tamiya Wirbelwind with it. I guess my French isn't so good :) It looks inviting, I'm very keen to start.

Also, my Kugelblitz replacement arrived, together with some turned barrels for the four gun Mobelwagen, and some AK Interactive washes that I bought to errr, justify the postage.

I think I have everything I need for this project now.

I only have the actual gun to construct on the first Mobel wagen, and it'll be ready for paint too.

Cheers

I got some more work done on the M16.

Some more bits glued to the "frame" (I'm really bad with naming all the stuff on cars/trucks correctly Anyone willing to give me a hand here?):

I still have to fill some gaps, but I'll let the glue dry completely before doing so...

This transmission thingy (damnit, I really have to learn the correct names for that stuff) is not glued in place yet to make painting all of it easier...

I really enjoy this kit so far. The fit is decent and I love the amount of detail on it (I still have to attach a lot of detail parts to it and it is already detailed very well!

Looking forward to this one Tony. So now you have another Wirbelwind. You will have a complete Flak Abt at this rate.

That's looking nice Clemen's. Glad to hear you are enjoying it.

I didn't actually plan to do another Wirbelwind, but I would be open to it if I find a camo scheme or variant that I really want to have a crack at. Otherwise I'll use the chassis for some other conversion later on, maybe a Stug IV or Brummbar or something. I would have preferred that I got an additional Pz IV Ausf J, as I have a PZ IV beo something or other conversion that I want to do at some stage. There are endless possibilities of course.

wayne, are you throwing both of those guns into the mix.

Tony, I don't think there were any other variants of the Wirbelwind. There was a proposal for an Ostwind II which off the top of my head was to have had twin 3.7cm guns, but I can't remember which turret it would have used.

Thanks Bish. I have a book on PZ IV variants that I hadn't previously looked at for Ostwinds. Apparently the twin 3.7s were mounted side by side, 30cm apart, in an unmodified Ostwind turret. They built two prototypes according to this reference, but of course, no photos.

I'll look into the feasibility, I wonder if any twin mounted Flakvierling 44s are available. It has a side profile drawing.

There is another thing called a Zerstorer 45, which had 3 triangular mounted guns intended for a Wirbelwind turret, but apparently prototyped on a Mobelwagen. Without a drawing or photo, it's too speculative to consider for this project.

Did a quick search, nothing available to help with either of these subjects, so unless something comes up, this project is still the original five vehicles.

Well I am sure you can find a reason to build it at some point in the future Tony.

I am now officially changing my entry. I got my hands on the Merit 1/18th 88mm Flak 36 today. Looks like a nice kit. I did a small in box review in the WiP thread I have for the kit. But in short, looks a real nice kit.

And big. This is the shield next to the one from the Dragon 35th kit.

Hoping to start this at the end of the month.

Tell me if you do! I still need to find a base for my diorama as well. It's hard to find a rounded base big enough to fit a 251 and a Flak 36 on it... Any ideas?

For my dio's I make my own bases using any piece of wood I can find.

For the 88 I don't plan on doing a dio so just want a display base.

I've finished constructon on the Mobelwagen, other than joining the upper and lower hull, and adding the tracks, which I will do after painting.

I'll try to post photos tonight.
