Aces Group Build
Start: January 20, 2015
End: March 20, 2016
Host: Greentracker98 AKA Ken
What: Any aviator who has at least 5 enemy aircraft kills to his name.
I've been watching a few shows like Dogfights, Great Planes, and any other one I come acroos. Great Shows.
There has always been Aviation Aces since we left the ground and took a gun up with us. One show said one pilot downed an enemy aircraft with a shot gun. Yes that was in World War 1.
The possibilities are endless. I think my favorite ace is Robert S.Johnson in his P-47s. I especially like the story of him meeting up with Egon Mayer. If I had to choose any plane to go up in, it would be the "Jug"
Rules:
1) Sunday, December 7th. I will create our page to sign on and post our WIP pics
2 ) We will run this GB from January 20, 2015 until March 20, 2016, I am changing the starting date because of all the interest and it seems that a lot are commiting already. The dates are by no means set in stone. I'm flexable
3) If you build 2 models yoiu will be a double ace. 3 models = a triple ace. etc etc. I will find a medal to add to your badge.
4 If any one commits to an Ace in a Day, (Five or more Kills in a single day), I'll look for a special medal for this
5) Any air craft flown by any ace in the last 115 years
6) We will use the 5 kill figure for an ace no matter what nation they are from.
7) You can build an aces plane at any time in their "ace career" To clarify,Right now, I'm considering Robert S. Johnson and Egon Mayer when they met up in the skies over France. It was almost Mayers end, but it was certainly Johnsons beginning
8) WIP's are strictly required
9) A character figure to stand in for the ace (Can be in or out of thier plane) Figures can be any scale i"m allowing it because I'vs seen some really great figures in the larger scales . Some of the busts I've seen look really amazing as well; So yes busts are allowed. The figure can be a general depiction of the pilot. While some of the figures are great, The faces are quite limited, this is in the spirit of the build, not about perfection
10) Plane with aces nose art and markings is a must. I realize some aces (Gabresky) didn't have nose art. So, Just build it like the Aces plane
11) After market goodies are encouraged and accepted
12) Any scale I'd love to get the 1/24 scale Jug for this, but I don't see that happening) Oh Well
13) When you sign-on, give us a little history on the man/woman along with their photo and their aircraft
14) Cross overs are allowed
15) Have fun
16) Please excuse my typos
