Welcome aboard Wiccan Warrior!  Your name and entries have been added to the roster on page one.  Very glad to see your interest in this subject and we're all looking forward to seeing your builds.  The start date is only 3 weeks away - we're getting close!  Yes

I like what you're doing for your local VFW.  I have the same thing going on up here at our local museum.  They've got every bipe I've built in the past 7 years on display there.

Hey Everyone! I certainly want to get in on this! Big Smile I am in the process of putting together a WW I dedication for the local VFW I'm at. I have a 1/28 Revell SPAD that will be done up in Polish Service markings and the 1/240 Revell HMS Campbelton that I will attempt to backdate and spruce up to resemble something looking like the U.S.S. Fairfax. I was planning on also picking up a British Mk. V tank to tribute the 301st Tank Battalion. I am hoping Tamiya follows up it's Mk. IV soon! Thanks! Cool

Thanks Mike... Yeah me too. I always thought the SPAD was one of the coolest looking WWI aircraft and the Albatros a close second!

Terry  -  welcome aboard!  You're on the list.  Nice to be getting more armor in here.  Yes

Doug - bummer about your balsa woes,  but I love the SPAD - looking forward to seeing it come together.  Your entry has been updated.

Real excited to get going too! But Grey Snake... I have to change my entry... I have been practicing on my technique as to stick and tissue construction, and am failing miserably when it comes to attaching the tissue to the frame, sometimes it looks great, other times ... well sometimes it looks great. I cant even guess at how many "wings" I made out of balsa strips I bought at LHS and how many attempts to attach properly. SO... Having admitted to these short comings, I will stick to my beloved styrene and build an RMX 1/28th scale SPAD XIII I found at the LHS today. Thanks! Have a safe and Happy 4th everyone!

For all of you history buffs out there, today marks the 100 year anniversary of Archduke Ferdinand's assassination. So that means the start of the GB is only a month away. I'm pretty stoked to build that Nieuport of mine, and I'm sure everyone else is stoked to build their respective kits as well! I'm looking forward to entering the world of biplanes and open cockpits.

Hi Mike

Thanks for changing my project, my friend.  I'm looking forward to the beginning of the build.

I've done one other WnW, a Pfalz D.IIIa.  Great kit to work on. How is the Snipe coming along?

By the way, I think I have found a home for all those Pup wires.  The double flying and landing wires

were scary as heck to think about doing, but were surprisingly easy.  Beginners' luck. LOL

Thanks for stepping in to help, Mike.

Counting the days here too,  and finding it tough to commit to any other projects until we get going.

Ernie, nice work my friend!  Is that your first WnW kit?

Your change has been noted and fixed.

Counting down the days.  Finished my Snipe, and am now filling the time before this begins with a "quick" Eduard Spitfire.  Filler until this thing gets going!

A little over a month! I've gotten jet fever here lately but I'm sure once I break out my biplanes I won't be able to get enough of them

Hi Mike,

Just to let you know, I changed my project to the WnW 1/32 Albatros D.Va.  The Eduard version

and my old eyes and chubby fingers weren't going to get along.Big Smile

In the meantime I have been practicing on a WnW Sopwith Pup. Now all I have to do is

figure where all those wires go.Wink

Cheers,

Ernie

Bish, no way this build ain't gonna happen.  We've got 30 guys ready to go once the start date arrives.  Haven't heard anything from Dave,  but he's been out for extended periods before and it was usually work related.  This build will surely be a go.  Yes

Has anyone heard from dave, hope he is ok.

bvallot - you're in man!  Welcome aboard.  Looking forward to seeing your build!  Yes

Steve - no worries buddy.  Figured Dave's gotta be a busy guy,  though I'm sure he'll be back for the start of the build, and this will make it a bit easier for him when he returns.

Ruddratt, I'd like to join you all if possible.  I'd like to enter an Eduard 1:48 Sopwith Camel F1 to add to the mix of German aircraft.  =]

OK fellas, in GreySnake's absence, I took the liberty of scanning the thread and updating the entry list.   When Dave gets back, he can copy and paste my list in place of his current (the official) one on the first page. If I missed anyone or screwed up anyone's name or entry, let me know and I'll take care of it.

We're just over one month away!

Slow Snipe progress here as well.

I hope nobody minds, but I did finally get a few pics uploaded.  Not a full WIP or anything like that since this GB hasn't even started, but I figured I'd share.  Anyway...

The upper decking is just temporarily snapped in place, and I removed the guns and compass to simplify masking.  As you can tell, everything is still in gloss coat for decals, and no real weathering has been done yet (other than the staining on the lower wing which I wanted to do early in case it went poorly.)  Struts are primed and waiting for paint.   I'm running out of ways to put off the scary rigging stage!

Its been a really fun build so far.  Nicest kit I've built.  This is my first WWI aircraft, and will not be my last.

Work is progressing steadily on the Snipe, but slowly.  Lots of yard work and landscaping this time of year that needs to be at the front of the line though.
