Joe, I think we can squeeze you in. But only if you promise to do as good a job as you did on your 190's.

I am determined that the Stuka won't be upstaged by a bunch of whoosy little fighters Wink

Uh-oh!! Looky who's here! Welcome aboard Joe and I can't wait to see this build happen. I'll take notes because I have one more of these in the stash. I used up two in the making of the bird I'm building for this GB.

Hey Bish, since I hit a brick wall with my Dauntless, can I jump in with this guy?  I scored it off E-bay.  If so, pencil me in!

Thanks, it looks better with some paint on it. Though I have only just noticed those bumps on the seat and the join in the bar over the seat is out of line. They can soon be sorted.

Got the pics taken last night, so here they are. The kit does come with a small PE fret, but even with that, its still bare. This is the pit with just the supplied parts.

I decided I would see what I had in the spares box. But then I recalled the mention of using an Aires resin pit in the Fujimi 87D earlier in the thread. Soon after those comments I got the Aires set for one of my D's which meant I had a spare Eduard PE set. When comparing it to the limited pics I have of an A pit I noticed there was a lot in common. So, using what few pics I have, the PE set, bits out of the spares box and a little artistic licence, this is what I ended up with.

I got a coat of RLM 02 on it last night so should be able to weather it today. The radio's, wiring IP and a few other bits will be added when that's all done.

I appreciate all the encouragement in here folks. I started installing the dive brakes and will get the decals on those tomorrow possibly. I also got the main landing gear wheels painted up and then painted and installed the tail wheel. Yesterday I painted the exhaust pipes ,installed and weathered them as well. Spats are next. I am going to install the siren even though it wasn't installed on this bird originally. Gotta have a little extra conversation piece in there you know (as if the snake motif weren't enough already!! lol ).Wink

I made a start on the A last night. There is no after market for this kit, but it does come with some PE and a few resin bits. But I may need to add a few extra bits to fill it out a little. Should have some pics up later today before I get some paint on it.

Ye, a lot of the R's had the filters as did a lt of the B's. There were trop versions of the D's as well, but these don't seem to have had an external filter cover.

I think a bunch of the R had the Trop filter if not most.  Is that correct?

Sooner or later I will be picking up the Italeri/Tamiya/Revell kit.

Ye, you and me both. I've got the B-1 with the shark mouth markings and 2 of the B/R kits but had forgotten the latter also gives you the B-1 option.  The only kit I know with the Trop filter is the Revell.

It's the Fujimi B kit but has early and later exhaust.  Until I find the proper air intake for a trop model I'm switching over to this one.  I have 6 or so of these Fujimi kits so my options are wide open.

Those instructions are incorrect 68. The B-1 could carry a 500kg load on the centre line and 4 50kg bombs on the wings. Even if you only using the centre line rack, the wing racks would most likely be fitted, so I would go with the middle option. I didn't realise you were doing a B-1, which kit is that you have.

I understand your frustration with the wheels Joe but at least with paint screw ups you can go back and re-do. I really hate when, after being 90% done I break and antenna or gun barrel and have to find a way to replace it without buying a whole new kit! So, long story short; it could've been worse. Still a pain in the *** though!

Joe, infuriating about the wheels, but I must say the flat/iso/grey coat evens everything up remarkably and delivers a very convincing feel. She'll be a beauty!

Well I had the tire/ wheel assembly's painted but the outcome wasn't what I had wanted but it IS what I should have expected. First off  I painted my wheels and then masked off to paint the tires which turned out great, The right tire color, the right fade ,and all of that. I was pulling up the mask when all the sudden the MM paint showed its true color (no pun intended). It lifted off of the nice tire black finish I had just applied.  I tried to "fix" it but it looked worse , soooooo, last night at about 10:00 I grabbed some ISO and a stiff brisle brush and stripped everything back down to bare plastic and then washed the tire/ wheels with warm water and soap.   Back to "square 1" . I'll be priming this go round starting in...............a couple of minutes, and then we'll go from there! lol

Hey fellas. I got the elevators done and the flat/ sun bleaching done but DANG! I'm stuck on the landing gear right now and have had paint issues. I've got some body work to do on the spats and will be painting them after that. Will post some pics when I hve the wheels on the ground.

68GT ...yes I did get the same results with enamel... maybe even a bit more harsh. Try a few panels of different mfgs and colors . Whit I noticed when using enamel was the fresher the better, try and see wheat works best for you...

Glad its a help gary, ye, I think your right, that it just the top, but those are the radio's in the second pic, they were mounted quite high up.

I believe early on in the thread there was mention of this kit being released.

I finally decided the other day to give in and buy it and it arrived today. So I will be adding one of these as my second build. I have never done a 144 kit before, so this should be fun. Looks pretty straight forward, theres no cockpit to worry about. But it does include decals for the spinner spiral, so that should be fun.

Bish> Yes, that's what I need.  I think that is only the top half of the partition, and the radios are lower, but that will do as that's the part I needed a view of to replicate.  Thanks!
