Ju 87 Stuka GB

Well I fixed it. Took a vacation day today.  Lots of bench time. Stuka is done minus a few fiddly bits and final weathering. Waiting for dull coat to dry.

Now that's nice Johnny, and nice to see those cannon put to good use.

Those Stuka tank busters are so sharp looking as is your model.

Here's a few more update pics from my work on the canopies last night. I used a mask set from Montex and this is the first time I ever used a mask, I usually would paint the frames by hand or using blue tape spray them.

One of the issues I had was that I had to use a x-acto knife to expose the vertical canopy frames.

I think trying to do this on a 48th or 72nd scale kit would make one's eyes crossed  

Nothing glued down here yet, just wanted to see how she look. Another issue I had was when I started removing the masks, the MM acrylic paint came away in spots. Chalk it up to it being late at night and tired by this time, I then started scoring the frames edges with the knife and it help. I will just touch up the areas later by brush. Also retouch the fuselage areas and will most likely paint the underside today or tomorrow. Getting closer to slapping on the decals.

Nice work Scott. very interested to see those masks. I like the idea of masks for inside and out, especially in the larger scales. But does seem a bt of a PITA. I am thinking about getting one of their complete mask set which includes marking for my 24 kit.

Hi Bish!  Those masks can be a pain particularly the inside panels but I chalked it up as first time user. Thankfully they were forgiving when I would messed up aligning them on the canopy. When some of the paint came off with the mask I thought maybe I should have first primed the frames. Next time I do something like this I will try that.  I seen the Montex Snake mask set and was very tempted to get it but since I had the CAM decals I gave it a pass.

Thanks for the info, I will keep that in mind. Will defiantly have to remember to prime the frames. I am looking at one of the other sets, the one with the yellow nosed Stuka.

Which of the aircsale sets have you use on yours again. I am planning on getting the IP decal and was considering the etched sets they do but wasn't sure if I should get both.

Bish...I used the Airscale Luftwaffe placard set. Got them for the FW-190 kit and there was plenty left over to dress up the Stuka. I passed on the instrument panel set, I got one FW-190 GB but if you follow the directions they appear to sit in too deep on the panel and I didn't want to scratch build a new panel so I left them out and didn't get one for the Stuka.

I did order the Master-Model MG-17 brass barrels for the Stuka but so little of the barrel is shown on the wing that I went with the kit barrels.

The seatbelts are from RB Productions and they're gems though you would have to get 2 sets.

Scott, I had a similar problem with MM paint on my build too - it didn't adhere well to the bare plastic and came off when I taped over it to protect against overspray. Live and learn I guess. 

I had the same problem with my canopy, the Eduard masks seemed to work fine but the MM paints lifted bigtime. To be fair, it's happened with Tamiya paints too, though not so badly.

Scott, thanks for the advice. I was wondering about gun barrels, but I was thinking more or the rear facing gun but there doesn't seem to be one. I will check out those RB belts.

I got the RB belts and Airscale placards from Ultracast. I give them thumbs up for fast service and answering any questions I may have. The Montex masks were from Victory Models and was the first time I ordered from them and will do so for any future products. Orders were received usually under one week.

Very nice Tank Buster John. Splinter camo and canopy masking turned out great, especially for 72nd scale. Do you do any weathering? Maybe some exhaust stains/panel line washes?

Nathan there is some weathering.  Exhaust stains etc.  I may tone in up a but more. Also has the antenna wire we Hicham can't be seen in the photo.  I use 1/2 lb fishing line for 72nd scale
