Third Annual Berny Memorial Group Build
Posted by Son Of Medicine Man on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 9:44 PM
Greetings fellow modelers,

Welcome to the Third Annual Berny Memorial Group Build.  As a few of you know, Berny, aka Berny13, passed away a little over two years ago. He was an avid modeler and a good friend.

The First and Second Annual Berny Memorial Group Build were very successful. When putting the first build together, we tried to find out what planes he was associated with while he was in the United States Air Force and use that list as a theme. But as we started going through all of his posts, we realized that he had modeled almost every subject possible.

He started out with cars. At one point he modeled armor. And when he did model planes, he even modeled Migs, so it seemed that nothing was off limits. I also know that he had an attitude that you should at the very least enjoy building your model. So we finally decided that there would be no particular theme to this build except one. HAVE FUN!

This is not an exclusive club for people who knew Berny.  Anyone can join this build!

So the rules to this build will be very short and simple. YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE! A group build in my opinion is supposed to bring people together and share ideas, help each other with problems, answer questions, and even proudly show your daily or weekly accomplishments with.

We are going to start the build on Berny’s birthday, which is February 22. Anything and everything that you can build is acceptable (within the restrictions of this site of course!). It can be something you are building on another group build. You can build as many models as you like. Beginners and experts alike are welcome. This build will last one year, ending on February 21, 2015.  Everyone can start signing up now and I will add you to the roster.  Please include the kit (manufacturer, scale, etc.) that you are planning on building.

All finished builds will be entered on the first page of the build. This is not a contest of speed. It is a contest of fun.
Here is the badge, feel free to pick one up if you are particpating, you do not have to wait until you have completed your build.

Hi! I'll be first to join up, though I don't know what my next build will be. I don't want to think about what it will be, so I don't get distracted and I finish my current project. If I start  thinking about it, then I might start rummaging through the stash and then I'll be lost...

So for the moment, I'm going to say...TBA!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Even though I have been on the forum a few years, unfortunately I can't say I recall Berny. But I was determined to enter at least one of these GB's, which is a great idea. I am trying to avoid doing cross overs, but with the time frame I know I can fit one in some where, so put me down as a TBA as well.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Ken,

I will join too please, although I didn't know Berny. I'm happy to build something to honour his memory.

At this stage I'll say it's a Hasegawa 1/72 Ju 88, but that might change later on once I actually get to the build. Thanks for continuing to host these GBs.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I unfortunately never got to meet Berny in person but talked to him several times here. Great guy and always willing to help out with any advice. As a Phantom mechanic he knew about everything about the plane and a fount of knowledge but lots of other Cold War USAF aircraft too.

I'm going to make it official: My build will be the F-101B Voodoo in 1/72 scale from Revell of Germany.

It will be strictly an OOB build, with no fancy AM parts added. Detail I am going to limit to the finishing if I can. Decals provided are for two different ANG aircraft, Texas and Oregon. Not sure which i will use. The kit is a little dated, but molding seems very good and acceptable detail level.

Hello, I have just recently joined the forum groups and got back into modeling.  As a newcomer to this I am excited to throw my hat into the group build.  I will be starting a 1/48 Hasegawa F-4G Phantom II in Idaho ANG livery.  I have seen quite a few of the same build.  I'm hoping that my finished project will turn out as fantastic as the others that I have seen.

On the Bench:  Lots of unfinished projects!  Smile

For this I would like to do something from the USAF. I don't have any F-4's, so put me down for a Hasegawa 72nd F-16D. About time I added a modern US aircraft to the built collection.

Hi Bish,

Sorry for the late reply.  I updated the front page but apparently forgot to reply that I had changed it.  Sometimes I will write a reply and forget to click "Post".  Confused

No worries Ken, I have done that myself a few times. I probably won't start mine until late in the year, but I will defiantly be keeping track.
