Thanks WW. F-104, my fav plane of all time. I've done 3 of the Hasegawa 104J's, so, yeah, got lots of those huge decal sheets myself in the stash!! Really looking forward to this one coming together...go Airfix!!

Handsome looking Hurricane so far, Rob! A bit of progress on my Airfix 1/72 Starfighter - wait, I didn't just go to the Airfix Tribute Forum, did I?? :-) I should go ahead and purchase another tube of Squadron Green - I know I'm going to need it! The wingtip tanks were shaped more like torpedoes, so I swapped them out for some "old box" Hasegawa ones. The Sidewinders came from the ESCI 1/72 F-100F kit I am doing for the Braille Scale GB on here. I snagged the wheels & tyres from the Hasegawa JASDF F-104J kit but what I am going to do now is build this one wheels up. I have not done that in a long time. I even have a nice clear plastic display stand from a KP Mig-17 to put it on!  Yes Oh, and the Burner can came from a old New Years party horn - well the plastic part! I cut out the bottom part of the Airfix Starfighter exhaust and will use the nozzle part from the Hasegawa JASDF Starfighter. The "Can" even has lines inside it!!Geeked

Notice how the Hasegawa JASDF F-104J decal sheet is bigger than the Airfix Starfighter box itself! LOL

[Admiring Starbuck's space fighter] Cassiopeia: It's a perfect machine! Born to dance amongst the stars! Starbuck: Yeah, it's bumping into them that has me worried.

Theuns: this is the 'most' excellent new tooling from Airfix. Superb in every detail, thought, some would say the panel lines are like 'trenches'. They've relaxed a bit on the sheer depth of the panel lines lately. This is my first Mk.1 Hurri, very impressed so far. You have to be careful with Airfix as they are constantly reboxing old stuff. I keep up with their new toolings and only buy those.

Rob, is that a new tool Hurri from Airfix? I can't see if the panel detail is scribed.

I got a red boxing Hurri in 1/72 from them last year but was rather ticked off to find it was still the old "badly detailed raised line" kit from way back :-(

A bit of progress on the Hurricane Mk.1. Very simple build. I really like the floor of the cockpit being done in an earlier step. Done 100s of planes and this has to be the first time there`s no `tub`for the cockpit. Anyway, step 1 was the gear well:

Here`s the cockpit floor:

And, cockpit almost done, tiny cockpit, less than 3/4" wide:

Hi Waynec,

Can you add me to the roster please?

I'll be building Fujimi's 1/72 A-7E Corsair II "Desert Storm".

This one has been in the waiting line for 2 years now.  Can't wait to get started on it.

Great work everyone!  I got a bit done on the Super Sabre. I painted everything black that I could because I opened up the intake - it stopped maybe a couple of centimeters into the lip! Sad

almost bought a 2d s-25 today so i could build one in launch mode and one in travel mode. anyway here is a pic of two sprues to get an idea of the size. that is a 12" ruler. just above it is a frame and just below it is a missile canister.

Hi guys.

Here is the Academy F-86e I am doing as a SAAF Canadair CL-13b (sabre Mk6)

First thin was to fill and sand the massive step in the top of the wing, don't know what they were thinking molding it like that !

Then I added lead foil belts to the seat.

Got the fuselage together and must say I am not a huge fan of this kit.  The cockpit deck did not fit as it should and had to be mounted below the interior locating tabs, the trailing edges of the flaps hang past the trailing edge of the fuselage and Italeri opted to not provide any framing on the canopy – what fun that will be to paint.
Time for a bit of sanding before cementing the wings and canopy to the fuselage.

Wayne, put me down for Revell's P-26 in Guatemalan markings.  Kit by Revell Germany, decals by Aztec.

Wayne: does the SS-25 have a 'hinge' system that you may have the choice. I know my MAZ-543 TEL had the ability and parts to change back and forth. Yes, it was 1:35, so, it had the size. Not an option in 1:72? I haven't looked into this Zvezda kit yet...

hi rob

that would be the DML SCUD 1C? i have a pair of those. my 1/35 TRUMPETER PLA DF-21 doesn't have an option for launch mode but it looks easy enough to convert one of them ( yes i have 2 of them too). i already have pics of how to do that. on the 1/72 there are separate parts for the outriggers, folded in travel or deployed lifting the whole vehicle off the ground. and 2 hydraulic center arms, one for down and one for erect. directions look a bit confusing, nothing major just not something to build when unfocused. think i will makes copies so i can scribble on them..

Getting some work done on my Mustang.  Got the interior painted and am adding some PE that was extra from the stash.  Aside from the cockpit being a rather poor affair the cannons were horrible so I have ordered some metal barrels and springs to spruce that up.

Wiccan Warrior

I got this kit on the cheap - bagged & no decals. But I had a couple of the ESCI re-pops anyway, and one had come with 2 decal sheets! My initial clean up started.

so should i change the cover picture to a bag of plane parts?

i cracked the box on the SS-25. the missile canister is 12" long. have to decide early in the build whether travel mode or launch mode.

Wayne

Put me down for the B-52. I don't know which one it is yet. I'm getting it from a co-member of my model club at our next meeting.

Thanks

Wiccan Warrior

Hello all! I would like to join in with a 1/72 ESCI F-100F in Turkish markings. I've got plenty of 1/72 stuff. One of the other Group Builds I entered doesn't start until August, so I figured, maybe I will have this done by then!  ;-)

ww yes the orphaned armor GB. i think that one is going to be a hoot.

welcome to everyone joining. i don't plan on sending out welcomes to every new member but, when you see your selection and picture in the roster, consider that the welcome response from me.

Hi Waynec.

I registered for the "other 1/72 GB" with an Academy F-86e. Please put me down for that on here.

Thanx
