Thanks, guys. It's never a competition for me, except with myself. Like most guys, I always try to do better on the next build. Doesn't always happen, but I do try. I have been inspired by, and learned a lot from many modelers. If I can do that for anyone I would be very happy. I am very happy that Joe tracked me down so I could be part so this GB.

The Mighty Mo says no.
Jay, with that post above you've already set the bar too high for me! Those look great. Really.
SchattenSpartan Nice job Jay! Some mighty fine work on all of those 109s, Jay!

Tom... (Panzer Pilot) according to the Luftwaffe Camouflage pamphlet I go by, Well I'll type what the section says for you...
The question of the introduction of the RLM approved camouflage scheme incorporating the new colors 74-gray-green 75 gray-violet and 76 light blue(respectively Graugrun, Grauviolet and Lichtblau) remains enigmatic. The first Bf109 F2 photos show a low contrast camouflage consistent with 74 and 75 colors with heavy overspray of one or both colors taken down the fuselage sides. By August 15 1941 Messerschmitt had set forth the new schemes with the colors 74/75/76 with fuselage mottle of 02/70/74.
That was from the section titled Day fighters, 1940-1944.
Hope that helps Tom.
Take care...
Doug

Well, it's getting close. Ready to get going. A few more of mine.
Nathan T panzerpilot I have a question for the RLM 'experten'. When did RLM 76 'late war' replace RLM 65 for the underside color? Yes, I know the answer 'might' be obvious, but It seems to me 65 was not used much after the Friedrichs? I don't have the official document or date, but it seems lots of Fs wore 76. So sometime in mid '41 I'd say.

Greg IamRaider Having never built any Luftwaffe aircraft before, I've been researching the 109. In doing so I discovered a 360 degee view of a 109 cockpit. Thought it might be useful to anyone not familiar with the aircraft like myself. http://www.airspacemag.com/panoramas/messerschmitt-bf-109g-10-180947945/?no-ist This brightened my day. What an outstanding link. Now I have a reference for my favorite part, the office. I echo all the above, thank you for posting this, Raider.

Glad you like it Greg. I'm glad some folks are finding it useful.
Clemens... Glad your back and not quite as busy as you had been, Also glad you and Joe are teaming up, I mean, well... you know how Joe gets when hes spread too thin! LOL... Just kidding brothers... as stated earlier, Me doth sense another fantastic GB about to begin !!! Already researching two more builds, an "F" and another "E". Hey, there are only about 33,000 to choose from! LOL...
Joe does run this thread (as our host), but I volunteered as his co-host. That basically means I'm keeping track of all the builds in here and update the build roster accordingly...
The first post (with the rules and badges) is Joe's while the second one (build roster and list of finished projects) is mine.
Thanks. I didn't know this wasn't his thread, lol, sorry about that.

Ask me about Speedway Decals
Well my goal is when this build begins I will be in a spot that I could begin the interior. Might make that goal. Not much left to do to the wing.

I haven't used his gear bays, but they look very nice. I do use his belts, and love them. In fact those are his on the K-4. Most realistic looking ones I have found.
There's a local modelling fair here in Vienna on March 7th/8th. Aires show up there every year with some pretty nice discounts (up to 30%), so I'm probably going to pick up a few 109 cockpits at their booth and go with one of those for my K-4.
That 109 of yours looks awesome BTW! I really like the color scheme!
Do you have any experience with the Radu Brinzan PE gear bays? I already have Aires gear bays for most of my Hasegawa 109s, but his K-4 set looks really nice. It also includes some extra details for the rather simplistic gear bay covers supllied in the kit...
Schatten, good choice! I have really been getting interested in the late war 109's camo. Done a bunch of reading on the G-10's and K-4's. A lot of interesting schemes. I like the one on the box. Looks challenging. I built one some years ago and have a few more I want to do. I used the Eagle Parts cockpit which is gorgeous. Looking forward to your build.
Wow that's a great link. That was awesome. Thank you

No problem guys! Glad you like the link
Iamraider, that's a really cool find, thanks for sharing!
It also reminds me of some nights I've had too many beverages!

Doug: Yeah, it's definitely going to be a blast! And I'm sure I'm by far not the only one counting the days untill it kicks off
Raider: Now that's a nice link! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Jay: Well, I tried to keep it a secret, but I guess there's no use for that? I decided to throw in my big K-4 as well (Hasegawa reboxed by Revell). That improvised RLM 02/81/82 scheme on the boxtop looks really appealing if you ask me...
It would be great to see you build as well though, so go for it man!
Tucohoward I was just looking at the build roster. Don't see a K-4. Maybe I should change mine, or better yet, build two. Jay

I would agree Doug!
Well... some old names , some new names, some new builders and returning to the hobby builders... I think we have another winner shaping up here!
Thanks Clemens!
