Bruce, i really like what you have done with those domes. Certainly better than what i recall of the kit ones. I have just noticed the gun turrets as well. they are not part of the kit are they.

Nice speeder, Bob! And the Star Destroyer add-ons really make a big difference. Dang, Bruce, now I might have to get another one with aftermarket goodies.

It's been a while since I checked in here and WOW, there is some unbelievable work. I won't list the ones I've seen so I don't leave anyone out, but you guys rock Bow Down

Thanks for the comments guys! I moved the base from the basement to a south-facing window hoping that will help speed the drying process. That Star Destroyer is looking really awesome!

Nice to see the paint going on Bruce. Now, my turn.

So, i got the trooper out to the spray bay. Keep in mind this is white vinyl sprayed with white primer and then white paint, so it doesn't look that much differant. It took a week to get to this with 5 coats of paint and a couple of rubbing down sessons in between. Despite useing tamiya white gloss, it all came out very matt, so i then sprayed several coats of future.

The top of the helmit needed quite a bit of rubbing down as it was really rough.

I then got to brush painting the everythign else. I am useing Tamiya flat black for the body suit. This is after the first coat, i missied the right elbow so need to get to that. I need to try and get a decent metalic paint and am hoping the LHS has some Humbro in as i have heard that quite good, so if they have i will pick that up today.

And the helmit got some Tamiya semi gloss black. Just need to mix up a nice light blue for the other details.

And i also got the blaster together. I had to patch it up a little with some styrene strip on the vains at the front.

I have since got it primed and painted but forgot to bring it out from the shed last night, will get some pics later. I have alos been working on the base, but this is also in the shed awaiting some more varnish. More soon.

Bish,

The trooper is really looking the part. Funny how the simplest looking paint jobs are some of the most difficult to achieve. Great job! Looking forward to seeing him finished.

Thanks Bruce. ye, I know what you mean. I was in 2 minds as to whether I would batter the armour up, but I decided to leave it fresh. But I will give the flat back some treatment, a tip I picked up off jack when I did Darth.

I have the metallic, so I am hoping to be done by the end of the week.

Looks good, Bruce. Can't wait to see more progress. :-)

Bish, MAN, that's a lot of work, but worth it--you nailed the finish. Just the right amount of gloss and super smooth. I have nightmares about trying to spray white paint, so kudos.

Thanks PB. I was a bit worried, but using white primer helped and I sprayed rather thin coats of white Tamiya to build it up. And using the future was rather handy as I could build the shine up until I was happy.

Managed to get this wrapped up last night. First a couple of pics before final assembly. The body suit got anotehr coat of flat black and then some lighting with blue in the recesses and red on the high points. I used the Humbrol metalcoat Aluminium on the buttons and despite shining them up, they are not as shiny as i thought they would be. But they are betr than the other paints i have.

The hed was finishe off by painting up the otehr features. Most of the photo's i looked at tehse areas appeared a light blue/grey. But my full sized cardboard trooper they look more blue. I tested a few colours and Tamiya's light blue loked a good match for the on line pics so i went with that.

The blaster had been painted sem gloss black and then highlighted with some gun metal and a graphite pencil.

And then onto the end result. I am really pleased with this. these kits are a little tricky, but with a bit of work they certainly make impressive bulds, this one is 18'' tall. Some of the features may not be 100% accurate, and improvments could be made if you wnated to. I found one buld where someone scratchbuilt a new e11 blaster as the kit one looks nothing like the one used in the movies. But i was just happy to build it as it was. I think like many, the troper is my favorite charector and i have wnated to build this one for ages. I was also really pelased with how the base turned out, the badge came out better than i had planned it to be.

And here is one of the troper with his Lord. But i am a bit confused about this. these are supposed to be the same scale, and darth is not a short guy by any means. Not only is the trooper taller, but also more chunky.

Nuc, i know you have built both these. Are yours the same. I am wounderign if, because the Darth figure is not a genuine Screamin kit, if the guy who mae it has some how shrunk him.

And finally, the ranks of my Stormtrooper army are growing slowly. Soon, i will have enoughto take over Suffolk. Then the world, then the galaxy.

Of course, they have to be taught how to shoot straight first.

And there you are. Thanks for following along guys. I would like to thank our host for running another awsome GB. Whistling

I look forward to seeing the rest of the builds as they finish off and even more to a week on Sat.

Its a real shame Screamin are not around. One of those First Order troopers in this scale would be realy nice.

Bish,

WOW! Outstanding job on the Stormtrooper! He looks fantastic! And I see what you mean about the size difference between Vader and the trooper. Interesting.

Thanks Bruce, i am really chuffed with him.

Ye, that is a curious one. The trooper box says 18'' and thats what he is. Darth is also supposed to be 18, and he is to the tip of the sabre, but to the head he is 16. I'll se what Nuc says, if mine is shorter than it should be, i think i will be on the look out for a genuine Screamin one.

Looks like some of the Revell Master Series Star Wars kits are hitting the stores: Millennium Falcon

These are the ex-Fine Mold kits, and very pricy!! Don't have a heart attack when you see the price!!

Ye, I had they were going to be pricey. I am just glad I got all the FM ones I wanted when I had the chance, except for the Falcon. But you can still find some of those FM kits and at not to bad a price. I still need a couple of Interceptors for conversions. I hope they release some of the new movies kits in this series.

I did see that Mega Hobby was taking pre-orders on the 1/48 Tie and 1/48 X-wing. But I haven't seen any of the new vehicles in the Master Series yet. Like you Bish, I hope they do.

Edit:  X-wing     Tie

They look like the same box art from Fine Molds!

Outstanding Trooper, Bish! As I posted before, that finish is impeccable, and NOT easy to do correctly. All of your hard work was worth it. That is odd Darth is shorter but, whachagonnado?

Yeah, the Revell re-pop of the Falcon is $$$, but I'm glad the molds live on. I built the FM version back in 2006, and despite the grumblings from the Star Wars rivet-counters (bad hull shape, mandible toe-in, etc, etc) it's still one of the best kits I've built. And a super-detailed 1/72 version of the Falcon?? Yes!

Making good progress on the X-Wing, finally finished the wings, now moving on to fuselage assembly and painting. I'll post pics soon.

Thnaks PB, its much appreciated. Like i am sure most people have, i have struggled with white in the past. This was a good kit to learn on with no fine detail and nice big surfaces. It is odd about Darth, but thats the way the cookie crumbles. If the genuine one is bigger, i'll just have to get one of those. I know, what a shame.

Look forward to those pics.

Great looking trooper Bish! Looks like he's a nice edition to the collection, even if he's a little tall to be a stormtrooper. I had to get a new base to stain. The other one just isn't drying so I must have screwed something up with it. The new one is coming along much better.

Hello all, sorry I've been out of the loop for so long. Got a bit of progress done on my Naboo Starfighter last week, due to the lack of complexcity of this build I don't think there will be many WIP pics.

It does look grubby, but who is to say a starship can't get dirty. Its a nice result even if its not what you wanted and certainly worth trying on armour.

Bish, nice job on the Trooper. Yes, he is larger than Lord Vader. Not sure why they did that. I have my two sitting on the top of a tall book shelf, with Vader on a taller base. You can't really see the base and it makes him taller.

Agree, Bruce, it does look grubby, but that's the great thing about sci-fi subjects....none of it is real, so you can paint/weather how you want!

And if you end up not liking the look, you can just spray over it. That's what I do sometimes. :-)

Thanks Nuc, and thanks for the info. I have a feeling Screamin were not to accurate on their scale measurments. But he is still impresiove even if on the short side.
