Was an exciting morning at my house as my 5 year old and I watched the trailer. I have to see about getting tickets when I get home from work.

Aha, same here--for both of my six year olds.

I've already watched it a few more times than I'd care to admit. :-)

Great start! Can't wait to see some paint on her.

As for the flap...hmm....I guess it depends on how much it bugs you. I don't have much experience scratchbuilding stuff, so I would probably leave it.

Look good bob. A little bit of sheet styrene should work for that flap. Or just leave it and call it an new variant.

Thanks guys.I was thinking I could use a little piece of styrene, but what stumped me was to replicate the raised rivet detail...maybe some super glue applied with the head of a pin?

Good work guys.

Ive started this recently:

Its the Bandai 1/12 Scout Trooper.  So far only the head and part of the waist is built.  My guess is that it will need very minimal paint but weathering to make it more realistic.  Very nice kit.

Bob, have you got any styrene rod, or maybe used stretched sprue for those rivets.

Joe, that looks nice. One of the guys in my model club brought an un-built one of these to a meet and it looked really nice. But when I looked at some pics, the feet really put me off.

A pic can explain it better.

Its the interchangable and positionable part of there figures that is putting me off.

Worth a 1000 words. How do fix that? Assuming you want his feet in a fixed position.

If it were me, on those feet. I would simple glue the foot exactly where I wanted it, then apply some putty in the ankle area and shape it to the boot. A little filing and sanding and presto, a full boot look. It seems like every kit has something we all have to "fix" so it meets with our approval. I'm with Bish, I'd have to address that head on.

Wow, I can see what you mean about those feet.

I've finally finished with all the seams and gaps.  After trying for a few of days trying to get a piece of sheet styrene to go the way I wanted, I decided to leave the flap in the back as is.  I scoured the internet trying to find someone that did it, and every build I saw had it like this.  I'm going to save my sanity.  I was able to get a bit of time at the bench today and was able to prime and preshade.  Hopefully sometime this week I'll be able to get some paint sprayed.  The instructions are horrible for paint callouts.  They say to paint it "light gray."  That really narrows it down.  I think I'm going to go with neutral gray.

Thanks Nuc! I wish I had more time to work on it, just been so busy with getting midterms together, then grading them. I'm hoping to get some time to spray paint soon.

Look forward to seeing some more pics when you can Bob. I do promise I will get some pics of my trooper up soon. I have being doing a little work, but I was struggling to get the arms on. had to use plenty of filler and milliput, just got to sand it and add the head before I can paint.

Great start on the AT-AT, bob. Looking forward to pics from you and Bish. :-)

Well, after a break (post-Y-Wing) and dealing with a busy period at work, I've started the Fine Molds X-Wing. This is going to be another fun build. I feel like a kid again, when my dad helped me put together the MPC X-Wing. :-)

In any event, like the Y, I'm going to dirty it up with no strategy other than to stop when that little voice in my head says to... stop!

I'll post progess pics until the GB closes next month, then guess I'll move it to a separate WIP thread, (if you guys are interested).

Looks like the level 2 kits from Revell are starting to hit the shelves, any takers? The X-wing seems decent, at 1/50, I might try it.

PB, you are more than welcome to keep posting pics after the GB has closed. Nuc, I saw some of them here a few weeks back. I might have to wait until I can read some build reviews, they seem a bit toy like to me. But will wait and see.

Nat, the level 2 kits do not have the lights and sounds. These are supposed to be actual (albeit snap tite) models, at least as close as Revell comes.

Bish there is one built up on the SSM website and it looks pretty good.

OK, X-Wing officially started. The cockpit was looking a little bare so I added some bits:

...and a test fit:

Thanks for looking!

...and beefed up the detail in the wings:

Plan to do the same to the engine bays using more wiring and styrene tubes.
