Don't know about the rabble rousing on the other thread, but sounds like some people are tired of all the SW hype. :-)

And just to remind you all, there will be an Ep III GB in the lead up to the release of Ep VIII movie in May 2017. I have been giving it a lot of thought, and given we have just had this GB, my current plan is to run the next GB from Dec 16th 2016, when Rouge 1 is released, until May 26th 2017, current release date for Ep VIII. That makes it just over 6 months.

So i hope you will all be along for the next one.

More progress, and probably the last WIP pictures. Conveniently, all of the grey pieces are going to be silver and yellow pieces, well, yellow. The kit fits together pretty darn well in terms of these subassemblies between grey and yellow pieces so I'm going to paint them seperately and then glue them together. I plan on buying some paint tomorrow and hopefully being able to finish this just in time for the deadline.

It does look grubby, but who is to say a starship can't get dirty. Its a nice result even if its not what you wanted and certainly worth trying on armour.

Bish, nice job on the Trooper. Yes, he is larger than Lord Vader. Not sure why they did that. I have my two sitting on the top of a tall book shelf, with Vader on a taller base. You can't really see the base and it makes him taller.

 

Thanks Nuc, and thanks for the info. I have a feeling Screamin were not to accurate on their scale measurments. But he is still impresiove even if on the short side. 

Agree, Bruce, it does look grubby, but that's the great thing about sci-fi subjects....none of it is real, so you can paint/weather how you want!

And if you end up not liking the look, you can just spray over it. That's what I do sometimes. :-)

Quick update on the Star Destroyer, It's painted The MM Neutral Grey looks good

But, I tried a different technique for the wash. I tried a wash/filter at the same time. Left the flat surface and applied Winsor & Newton Aristian Raw Umber oil mixed with 91% alcohol. I tested it on a spare piece, which looked decent. So I applied it on the bottom of the SD. And I'm not happy with the results. Looks too dirty to me. And I didn't apply it correctly, I didn't leave the brush wet enough initally. You can be the judge.

I actually like this technique and will use it again for a really dirty aircraft or armor project. But, I'm not planning on cleaning this up, I'm going to shoot some future and use a Flory wash for the upper surfaces. I'll post pictures once I'm complete. Then I have to finish off the base.

Hello all, sorry I've been out of the loop for so long. Got a bit of progress done on my Naboo Starfighter last week, due to the lack of complexcity of this build I don't think there will be many WIP pics.

Thnaks PB, its much appreciated. Like i am sure most people have, i have struggled with white in the past. This was a good kit to learn on with no fine detail and nice big surfaces. It is odd about Darth, but thats the way the cookie crumbles. If the genuine one is bigger, i'll just have to get one of those. I know, what a shame.

Outstanding Trooper, Bish! As I posted before, that finish is impeccable, and NOT easy to do correctly. All of your hard work was worth it. That is odd Darth is shorter but, whachagonnado?

Yeah, the Revell re-pop of the Falcon is $$$, but I'm glad the molds live on. I built the FM version back in 2006, and despite the grumblings from the Star Wars rivet-counters (bad hull shape, mandible toe-in, etc, etc) it's still one of the best kits I've built. And a super-detailed 1/72 version of the Falcon?? Yes!

Making good progress on the X-Wing, finally finished the wings, now moving on to fuselage assembly and painting. I'll post pics soon.

I did see that Mega Hobby was taking pre-orders on the 1/48 Tie and 1/48 X-wing. But I haven't seen any of the new vehicles in the Master Series yet. Like you Bish, I hope they do.

These are the ex-Fine Mold kits, and very pricy!! Don't have a heart attack when you see the price!!

Ye, that is a curious one. The trooper box says 18'' and thats what he is. Darth is also supposed to be 18, and he is to the tip of the sabre, but to the head he is 16. I'll se what Nuc says, if mine is shorter than it should be, i think i will be on the look out for a genuine Screamin one.

WOW! Outstanding job on the Stormtrooper! He looks fantastic! And I see what you mean about the size difference between Vader and the trooper. Interesting. 

Managed to get this wrapped up last night. First a couple of pics before final assembly. The body suit got anotehr coat of flat black and then some lighting with blue in the recesses and red on the high points. I used the Humbrol metalcoat Aluminium on the buttons and despite shining them up, they are not as shiny as i thought they would be. But they are betr than the other paints i have.

The hed was finishe off by painting up the otehr features. Most of the photo's i looked at tehse areas appeared a light blue/grey. But my full sized cardboard trooper they look more blue. I tested a few colours and Tamiya's light blue loked a good match for the on line pics so i went with that.

The blaster had been painted sem gloss black and then highlighted with some gun metal and a graphite pencil.

And then onto the end result. I am really pleased with this. these kits are a little tricky, but with a bit of work they certainly make impressive bulds, this one is 18'' tall. Some of the features may not be 100% accurate, and improvments could be made if you wnated to. I found one buld where someone scratchbuilt a new e11 blaster as the kit one looks nothing like the one used in the movies. But i was just happy to build it as it was. I think like many, the troper is my favorite charector and i have wnated to build this one for ages. I was also really pelased with how the base turned out, the badge came out better than i had planned it to be.

And here is one of the troper with his Lord. But i am a bit confused about this. these are supposed to be the same scale, and darth is not a short guy by any means. Not only is the trooper taller, but also more chunky.

Nuc, i know you have built both these. Are yours the same. I am wounderign if, because the Darth figure is not a genuine Screamin kit, if the guy who mae it has some how shrunk him.

And finally, the ranks of my Stormtrooper army are growing slowly. Soon, i will have enoughto take over Suffolk. Then the world, then the galaxy.

Of course, they have to be taught how to shoot straight first.

Its a real shame Screamin are not around. One of those First Order troopers in this scale would be realy nice.
