Does anyone know what the mixing percentages are for Light Ghost Gray? I am going to have to mix my own.

Thanks,

Doug

Thanks for catching that Stickpusher. I was going by the instructions and what photos I have looked at on the internet. Not that big of a change. I will get that fixed.

Just a quick critique on the missiles for you Nomad before you add them to the model. The Sidewinders should definitely have a Light Ghost Gray body, unless you plan on building the Weasel in on of the late 70's/early 80's SEA color schemes. The Sparrows too. By the time that the Weasels went to the Gray Hill II scheme in the late 80s that the kit comes in, the US had changed air to air missile bodies to Light Ghost Gray.

I think I will be adding my 1/32 l-18c buitl from revell kit.

I will model it after this one I built and fly - www.jlpc.co.za/.../Piper_Cub_Day-2_Skywood_SW-18_replica_Piper_L18C_ZU-EMX_Omer_Mees-03.jpg

Thanks Rob and Theuns.

I am having to wait to get a new set of instructions on this kit. I pulled a bone headed deal and poured out my Tamiya cement on them and ruined the pages. I can't read them at all. Between myself and my two year old grand-daughter must might lose or tear up this build. I lost a very small piece that goes on top of the plane and my wife found it and I turned right around and lost it a gain. This time I can't find it. It will turn up after everything is done and say haha. Just my luck.  LOL!

No, it's been a fun build and I have got the plane primed and sanded more now just looking for places that need more work on them. I found a gap on one of the wing tips and am thinking about using stretched spure to fill it. might be easier to sand and a lot neater than putty at this point.

Theuns, Great job on the decals. The Mig looks outstanding. Great job on the painting and clear coat.

I will have some update photos soon.

Thanks all,

Doug

Here are some update photos of the armament for the F-4g. I still need to do some touch-ups but they are basically done.

Hey all,

Sorry that I have not been on lately as I have been real sick for the last two weeks. I have been to the ER with very high blood sugar levels and trying to fight my CIDP with a med that raises the sugar levels.

The Doctor has taken me off of that but now I am faced with trying to get the IVIG done now and that is very costly on my co-pay. The IVIG is about $350,000 to have done. It is a 5 day treatment that takes 5 hours a day to do. Then it may be a every month deal of one to two days.My work bench looks like a tornado hit it and I have not been able to clean it up and get everything back in order.

I have worked on the plane a bit but mostly the armament for it. As soon as I can get my bench cleaned up I will post pics of the progress.

Thanks all,

Doug

That is one seriuosly large barrel!

Here is my Mig in shades of dark and airframe allu. I need to touch up the engine access pannel lins and then sand the clearcoat glass smooth for decals

got 12 powder bags painted gray white and 12 canisters german gray. when they dry will paint black rounds and brass end casings. (ran out of clips). also painted ammo cart german gray instead of yellow for some contrast. here is the elevation mechanism set together. going to be a lot of individual priming and painting. ig it looks a little rough remember 1. i will clean it up some more, 2. all of this inside the carriage won't be seen, especially down in travel mode and 3. i'm assuming they would leave the inside gray to conserve paint. pity as this is a pin wash dream.

ON A SIDE NOTE. vallejo paints nicely but i find, even after cleaning, if i let the airbrush sit for a couple of days it gets stiff. had to field strip mine today. easy enough to run anything like water though it each day to prevent that.

Well, this beast has been taunting me for the past few weeks I completed the last sanding and started with the alclad.

I didn't have lots of the airframe allu I usually use, but like on the F-51 I started off with dark allu. This does not have the shine like the airframe allu but gives a nice used look to the model.

I wanted to try something different than my usual way of masking some pannels off and doing some others in different shades.

This tine I simply free handed the different panels with my fine air brush in different shades of dark allu, some in lighter airframe allu and a few in pollished allu.

The "softer" edge actually made it look better in my opinion, with a pannel wash it will "pop" a little more.

Well, I got the gloss black on but my AB seems to  be spluttering a bit and the surface is not as smooth as I would like....I will let it cure a few days and then pollish it for alclad.

I had hoped to avoid having to sand again as it has allot of places you can't really get into, but that is how it goes.

I know what you mean, I mostly try and force myself to complete a "stalled model" before starting another....otherwize it is to eazy to just leave it in the box and work on better ones LOL.

Nomad, you are making some seriously rapid progress on your Weasel! Nice work so far!

Thanks Stickpusher. It's been a real fun build so far. I am really liking this scale of planes. Gonna have to get another one.

I have all day to build if I want to. I do take time off from the bench to resupply and charge up my dremel too and play with the grand kids.

What seam does not line up? The ones that run span wize look good to me, you refering to the centre line joint?

If so just sand the hight area off and re-scribe the detail, that is pretty much it I recon...

Theuns

That is what I have done. Thanks Theuns. I have got more done on the plane yesterday and this morning. Coming along nicely. Some fit issues but not so much that it is driving me crazy. I have some filling and more sanding to do but here are the photos.

Holy cow that front section is almost a foot long!!This will be a real monster of a build  wow!

That office looks good to me, and if you have fun with it you have succeeded in your goal :-)

Theuns

Thank you Theuns,

Yeah it's big alright 23" long. I have got more done yesterday and am looking forward to working on it today.

I had a problem with one part of the seam that became misaligned. Any suggestions on what I can do to get this fixed with out to much work. It buggs me that it is on top pf the fuselage where it can bee seen by all.

I think the buckles would be metal therefor silver but the straps themselves would be a canvas of sorts....usually a brown or green

Found this link - s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/.../c750ab9ea55f800174d0f4412b5fe58a.jpg

After painting the cockpit detail, put a gloss coat over everything and do a black or dark grey pinwash in areas like the tub's corners, in the seat's recesses ,under the pannel ect, when wipe the worst of just leaving enoug to give some shadow.

Theuns

My internet was down yesterday so I did not get your post until now. Already got the tub buttoned up in the forward fuselage. Dangit!

My hands are getting bad so the fine painting is suffering for now. Got a medical plain to see if I can get my hand movement back. I will strive to to better.
