I had a hard enough time drilling out the stacks on my 1/32 scale.... nice.
I'm going to try a new method for me. Check out this other thread,

The discussion is regarding stressed skin. I am really bothered by the fact the this kit, while very detailed, is covered by hundreds of micro raised rivets. Once I fill and sand anything I will erase them and I'm not sure how to replace them, so I'm going a different tack. I will sand them all off, do this stressed skin approach, and may try to reapply them as dimples.

I have now idea if this is going to work or not, but I have the time. I also broke down and purchased a PE cockpit, which cost more than I bought the kit for. The office it came with was not as nice as the rest of the kit. Sheesh I hate doing that.

A couple of things to do before sealing up the fuselage.

I drilled out the exhaust stacks. Left  one is drilled out with my mini drill bits which add more detail as compared to the undrilled stack on the right.

The tail wheel got boxed in with a couple of small plastic sheet pieces. I save those junk advertisement plastic cards in the mail just for something like this.

Next will be attaching the stacks and painting the tail wheel bay before attaching the pit and gluing the fuse halves.

Yes, I do believe that was done in 46 so it may be just what Bish needs for an unusual subject.

I didn't. That may be an idea for Bish's 1946 build next January, and since the Mustang build goes well into 2016.........

My TBD is determined.  1/72 Airfix P-51D in Dominican Republic markings circa 1984.

Art, not a bad idea. I'll scrounge one up and give it a try.

Rob-  thought just hit me as I was fixing one of my sluice boxes for gold prospecting.....how about an alum. pop rivet shank for you antenna on the bird?  Should be able to file on down in a few minutes for a fix.

Nice job on that OOB cockpit. It takes a real artist to make a kit cockpit look good without PE help.

Some progress on my 51 (Tamiya 1/48 P-51B), I was able to apply a wash on the cockpit and close up the main fuselage last night.  With the exception of decals, this one is going to be OOB for me.  Not to worry though, I'll be trying some new stuff on the finish to see if I can make it work.

When I finish the build, I'll try to talk my wife into letting me use her nice camera vice my cell phone (flash is a little overpowering).

Mike, not sure how you feel about eBay but I found almost all of my accurate miniature kiss on there. The only ones I usually see over priced are the B-25 kits. Just a suggestion if your deal doesn't work out.

I had planned on starting my A-36 this weekend But I got a stomach cold Friday night so I'm not sure I'll work on anything this weekend.

GREAT news -- more or less lol  The person from Craigs List finally got back to me about the AM A-36.   They told me it was still available (score!) after a month of being listed.  I asked what was the cheapest shipping possible, and they said $5.95  (the kit itself is only $5 still sealed!).   That brings the price to $10.95, which is right in the sweet spot for me.   I told them last night that I would take it.  I am still waiting on their reply.     So don't put me down as of yet, but i'm 95% sure i'll have it soon.  It takes them a while to reply to my emails.

Can I join up?  Scale is 1/72, country is somewhere in Latin America (Guatemala most likely), don't know which kit, either Tamiya or Airfix.

Did a little research on Ernest "Feeb" Fibelkorn, the subject of my build. He was actually a little big for a fighter pilot at 6-4 and 220 lbs. He was the top scoring Ace of the 20th FG. On Nov.8, 1944, he and Edward Haydon from 357th FG teamed up on a lone Me 262 eventually shooting it down. The pilot never bailed out and was killed. That pilot was Walter Nowotny.

Feeb went on to fight in Korea where he was killed while flying an F-82.

Nice progress PJ.  That intrument does look excellent.

LOL MC. The details are very sharp in this old Monogram which makes it easy to drybrush..

Holy smoke PJ, that panel is insane. I believe I could fly using that. Lets see here, Attitude Indicator, Turn and Bank Indicator, Climb Indicator, Altitude, airspeed, yep let me at it.

Great job Rob. The NM finish looks very good and those markings are wicked.

First the kit box

I made some progress with my ancient Monogram Mustang. Got the office painted up.

Painted the IP then drybrushed to pop the instrument faces. A drop of Future on each instrument replicates the glass face.
