kg4kpg,

I updated the roster.
Did you still want me to keep the 1/72 FA-18 up?

Yes. I forgot I had it entered. It is done. Here's one pic and the rest are in it's own thread seen here: http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/t/169805.aspx

Just a quick update on my going's-on. I've been super busy with work and without a home computer since Christmas Day. Things are now all back to the "norm" if you can call it that. I've got the new computer mostly up and running, still trying to figure out Windows 10 and that kind of thing. Havent taken many photos lately; however, the F-15E's are 98% completed. They are all painted and decalled up now just adding some AM weapons to them to make them look ready to go. I'll try and take some photos soon to close up this build.

Your going to have to build an F-22 now that they are going to be at Mountain Home.

I know! I just have to find the right kit! I tried the 1/72 Revell F-22 and the fit and flash were terrible. I may take a look at the Academy kit and see how it is.

Speaking of Mt. Home, did you see that the F-35's from Edwards are here through tomorrow for qualifications testing? Pretty impressive that they came here and called the training range one of the best in the World.

If you go to the 366th FW Youtube page they have a nice video about the TDY deployment and training.

OK guys it’s about time I completed a build for this GB. The 727 I was working on ran into some major issues and I had to abandon it. I do have an Airfix 1/144 727 scale that I may try to get to.
I’m starting the B-47. This is a rudimentary kit with raised panel lines, some flashing and very basic cockpit. This build should be a quick one as there are very few parts. I have however ordered a decal set with the 105th and the 380th BW. The time consuming part will be the painting.

Hi, Everyone I know its been a little while since I've been in. I had my "new" computer die on me. Its only a month or so old. since then,  I've been trying to get in by using win vista. that doesn't work any longer. I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox. That works.

Anyhow, Do to unforseen circumstances. I have to back out of the Boeing group build. My B-52 kit was an open box kit. So now, I am missing the canopy as well as the Wing Landing Gear. Sorry, I just can't afford the aftermarket parts So, maybe at a later date, I can get them. I'm thinking of selling it on Ebay. I'm just not sure right now.

Good luck to everyone's build here. they all look great.

No problem Ken. I don't mess around when I have missing parts, the kit will usually end up in the round file if I haven't already gotten too much invested in it. I have many more than I can work on.

I received the new decals for the B-47. I'm going with the 105th BW. I love the 1000th Wichita Built Boeing Stratojet nose art.

This kit is going to take some work. The engines don’t have any locating pins and don’t match up very well. The seams will take some work and filling and will result in the loss of raised detail, but it’s not the first.

Thats a good scale for the b-47. I have the 1/72 hasegawa raised panel lines old kit not going to build it any time soon

It's a nice size, but with the raised detail there is zero detail on the engines and fuel tanks. I'm pretty sure I can add some detail and make it look decent.

Here is my progress so far on  the 47. This kit leaves a lot to be desired. The fit is not very good and the raised detail is very easy to destroy. I added some raised panel lines to the engine nacelles as they were completely sanded away trying to clean up the seams. Next will be cleaning up the wing and tail seams then a nice base coat of black. I need to order some more Alclad Airframe Aluminum before I can proceed. I will be trying a different method to vary the panel shades. I have noticed that varying the base coat shade and sheen it has an effect on the Alclad result so I will try this.

If it's not too late, I'd like to jump in with Revell's 1:48 scale F-15E Strike Eagle, kit #85-5511.

That B-47 is looking good despite the challenges. Every time I see that Jet I wish Boeing had kept the bubble canopy on all their large jets!

I've been reading back through this thread a bit to catch up, some awesome builds there. If jelliot is still hanging around, I'd love some input, I'm thinking of going with the Bold Tigers livery for this Mudhen.

Assembly of the main body went pretty quick, I also took the opportunity to do some pre-shading with my new airbrush. It's a little rough, because it's the first time I've used a double action brush.

Once you get used to it, you'll never go back. Looks good GR, I need to give preshading a try.

I painted the B-47 with Alclad gloss black. It goes on well but the build is so big I had to paint it in two sections.

I also figured that I needed to build an airliner for the build. Since the Braniff 727 was a bust I wanted to do something else. Well I saw this last Saturday at our IPMS meeting for $3 and just couldn’t pass it up. So I snatched it and ordered decals for British Airways from Airline-hobby.com. So using Aarons excellent airliner guide I bought for myself for my birthday I got to work.

Seems kinda dead in here.
I sprayed the Alclad today. I thought I was going to use a lot on such a large model but I didn’t. Next up is painting the metallic on the rear of the engines, decaling, installing the landing gear and slight weathering.

Got the 'pit painted and assembled.  Lost the WSO's grab bar to the carpet monster, I'm trying to get a replacement from Revell, if I can't I'll just have to use wire.
