don't pay the ransom, i've escaped.

big decals. nice change from military colors.  my schedule is all over the place until mid OCT. have a weekn holiday up the road in the mountains, nothing special just a getaway. i have a model contest the day after we get back so my frau says :take somethiung with you to work on." so i will have OTS german 105mm, Neubaufahrzeug, BM-21 and 1/35 TYPE XXVII painted and decaled so i can weather them while away. probably take 1/35 SS-23 to start on. SCUD should be finished for club monthly first week, even if i haven't completed a base.

Theuns
Arrgh!! the rigging on this little DH 82 is driving me mad, I tried streched sprue but is was to slack. Now I am busy with EZ line but without holes for it to go into it is rather difficult to bond to the model. Atleast the decals on the T6 went on very well. Will post pix soon. Theuns

ez line is nice for rigging ships when you don't want to bend the spars but it is annoying to work with as the knots slip easiliy. i found a knot with a large tail is easiest to tie followed by a dab of CYA. seems like a lot of wastage but cheaper than XANAX to calm your nerves after a rigging session Smile

have you tried zebra wire? it may be to thick for the scale. also really thin wire that i use for 1/35 antenna might work. it is rigid so you don't have a kink issue like the zebra line.i'm looking at that for my missile wiring though i really need something more flexible if i am going to be able to move the erector. i have no idea where the cables hook in to the missile base but i doubt anyone judging it will know either so my guess is as goos as any.

I split the large bottom decal between the two "l" to make it a bit more manageble.

The reason I chose # 2 for this model is that I work for the owner of this 5 ship T-6 team and I was the back seater in # 2 last week when we did a Battle of Brittan memorial flypast....it was quite moving I must say :-)

I have swiched to using thin CA with rubbing alcohol as a kicker, it seems to work a little better than just the medium CA. Theuns

Thanks Wayne. Here's the current status of the P-40.

looks like how i build some kits. the MERCURY method. lay out all the parts in close proximity and hope they are attracted to each other overnight.

Cheers

I've just taken the time to read back through the GB. Impressive work. I had a similar experience with the A-Model Wildcatfish. I got as far as the floats and parked it. I still want one for my collection.

Cheers

I am calling these two done.

The Airfix DH 82 I went for a well worked, faded club trainer look.

The Academy T-6 is # 2 in a 5 ship aerobatic team.

Thanx

Well done Thenus, sweet job rigging the TM and the cockpit of the Texan looks really detailed, as well as that paint job. You really like those difficult decal jobs.

Wayne,
Here is the Sd Kfz 7/1 quad AA gun. It's complete for this GB, however, it still needs to be a part of the Karl dio for the RR GB. I broke off 1 of the guns during the build and it went through the wormhole and hasn't come out yet, so I added a tarp to hide my boo boo.
Anywho, enjoy.

As always, comments and critiques welcome.

Great looking work everyone! I like it!

My apologies for not posting anything for quite some time, but I've been fighting several illnesses that all hit me one after another; sometimes even running concurrently. Every time I thought I was recovering fine, everything came rushing back to me beating me down harder than before. After several trips to the Doc and two different antibiotics; I've finally recovered enough to start posting something here for now.

This is actually work that I got done before I got sick, but never had the chance to post until now.

This is the progress I made on my Russian T-90 with the welded turret.  I got the turret assembled and added the main gun:

Next I went to work on the upper hull. I added all the extra parts and the side skirts to this. Here you can see it test fit to the lower hull:

Later on, I completed the turret, adding all the smoke dischargers and the Schtora fixtures. Here it is all complete except for tracks; ready for paint:

And that's all I was able to get done before I got sick. Once I get my hobby room put back together and my workbench cleared off, I'll get started back on this project.

Thanks for looking in.

There's something about modern Soviet/Russian armor I like. I think it’s the squat shape.

hey MC definitely something about modern russian wheeled armor. i am seriously considering the MENG 1/35 SCUD when it comes out even though i have a pair of DMLs. i will get the SA-8 and the SMERSH MRL. just dumped the box for the SS-23 8x8 IRBM. other than the insane amount of PE bending for all the hooks pretty straight forward. so now that the FLAK is in travel mode i would add a small road or path in front of the track and have the FLAK following a KUBELWAGEN. if no building maybe a slight elevation in the back corner.

THEUNS nice job on the rigging and the decals.decals are my least favorite part of modeling.

DUKE T-90 is looking good. will be a *** to mask for camo even with silly putty. color modulation perhaps? hope you feel better.

as for me i got the TOXSO german 105mm base coated and the tires painted, same with the BM-21 MRL and the SCUD has rear wiring and the missile is multicolored but not sure if i like it.

Great work Theuns. I always enjoy your builds. The Tiger Moth is definitely on my list.  It looks well rigged too, and a nice finish.

The T-90 is a nice build too, looking forward to seeing that thing done.

Wayne - could you please put me down for at least one of the Airfix Chipmunks. A couple of years back, iN Theuns' Trainer GB, I started to a project to build one in every colour scheme ever released by Airfix. I've got one to go, the one shown on the box art. I'll build a spare one just in case another scheme comes up, but I may not finish it now if its not required for the project, as I don't have any aftermarket decals for Chippies at the moment.

Cheers

looks like i have to repaint the warhead on the scud which is good since i want to maje it lighter so will mix deset tan with dirty white. mixing paints is fun with Vallejo. also working on an ICM BM-21 which is giving me as much of a fit as the 1/35. and a Toxso German 105mm cannon.

That KC-135 is big, and it looks good. Nice work.

This is what you get in the Airfix Chippie kit, first released in 1969.

Nice work on all those projects Wayne. I sure wish I could get a couple of those myself.

Yes, Trumpeter makes one. They also make the Tu-142; another variant of the Bear; as well as a 1/72 scale Tu-160 Blackjeck bomber. I have a Tu-142 and a Tu-160 in my stash. Been trying to get a Tu-95 for awhile, but they are pretty expensive.

I love that KC-135 tanker! Thanks for the memories from the time I built mine. Yours is turning out far better!

That Chipmunk is looking good. Nice to have a fast and easy build to do.

Still working on the Hobby Room and getting ready for Orangecon. I'll keep you posted.

Well until my Imageshack comes back I'll have to use Photobucket, Bla!

Wayne, I will enter the Kublewagon from this kit. It seems awfully small compared to my guys, but I guess it will work.

here is the pile of gray parts from a previous post. i will be taking this on holiday next week to wash and weather for contest on the 10th. will probably take OTS Atomic Cannon and JGSDF Patriot to start for other GBs. this is the Toxso German sK-18. fun build, small parts, nice figures.

thank you. i think i like dark yellow better as the washes show up better. probably airbrush ComArt weathering dust on it. technically the sight would not be on and the breech and muzzle covered but I'm not doing that. I don't like the breech. it's Vallejo oily steel. will probably redo with Tamiya metallic gray and a black wash. picked up the Toxso modern 105 and also have a FLAK 43 in the hoilday take box. also got the Academy M60A2 (1/35) and will make new decals for MY tank; C-16, 3-33AR 3AD 1975.

ps i am done with Ural trucks. the OTS BM-21 is going about as well as the 1/35 one.

Great looking model so far Wayne, really nice work.

I've got my Chipmunks primed.

The rivets and fuselage detail have been toned down, and I've added rudimentary harnesses, and instrument panels. Previous experience shows that it is very hard t oseinside the cockpit once it's all closed up, so that's enough. The one on the left will be the black aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight from the box art. I have added the rear fuselage strakes for a T Mk 20 Chipmunk to the aircraft on the right. I'll finish it as an all red aircraft that was used to train Prince Charles to fly in 1968. I'll have to make the serials, and use roundels from the spares box.

Cheers

Heres my wee little Kublewagen. I built it in about 30 min, but it seems more lake a 1/85 scale than a 1/72. Oh well, I'll get it together and see if it looks out of place in the dio.
Cool tiny kit though.
