Cliff,

O wise one in the way of Japanese Armor, I need your help! I have not been able to find AM tracks for the Type 4, and I'm not looking forward to the rubber bands suppiled in the kit. I have seen Fruils for the Fine Molds Type 97. Wouldn't these work outside of not having enough links for a Type 4 tank?

They are the same type of link (I think) except the Type 4 was longer and would need more links added, correct? Maybe?

G, i know what you mean about Verlinden figures, i have thoguht the same for a few years. I find its ok as long as you don't put them to close to proper 32nd ones. Though it can be a pain trying to fit them into vehicles.

Thanks Bruce, looking forward to seeing you get more done on the Type 4. I think you'll love the MiniArt figures, I've got a few of their US and British tank crews and infantry and they are really nicely molded, fit well, and the poses look really good- not stiff like the old Tamiya figures.

Actually, the geisha is little unrealistic but I went with some artistic license here. There were no geisha from mid '44 to the end of the war. The government shut down all the geisha parlours and tea houses and drafted them to work in munitions factories. I figured what the hey, maybe some big shot political leader or officer got a special exemption for his favorite entertainer. Plus I've got a tank that never entered service so hey we're not really dealing in reality here anyway!

I'm going to pick up the MiniArt set for the Type 4. I'm starting to think how I want to finish this tank in a dio. It will be something simple.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned Cliff, with the Geisha in the dio.

Hey Bruce, thanks!

The two small guys (1/35th) are from FineMolds sets. The two bigger officers are from Verlinden (they're labeled as 1/35th but they're actually 1/32th). The geisha is from a Japanese company called Aurora Models, I had to special order her. She is also 1/32nd (she'd come out about 6'6- 2 metres tall in 1/35th...) Indifferent

I'm want to get the MiniArt figures but it seems everytime I go to order them they seem to be out of stock.

Cliff,

The figures look really good! Are these the MiniArt figure set?

Thanks Bish. Hopefully the base will be done this weekend.

BTW, lost the senior officer's (in green) katana, hopefully it will show up when I'm tossing all the left-over parts in the spare parts drawer.

Ok, figures pretty much painted. I wish I were as good as Highlander over on the figures forum but I think they look decent if not great. I might still end up doing a little more fiddling with them.

Wish they were all the same scale but I'm setting them up on the base so hopefully the size differences won't be too obvious:

Joe,

The F4U office is looking great! I am curious too how the Alclad gloss works too.

Looks good Joe, you're making good progress there!

I think the tank, car, and figures are done here if I don't find anything that needs more tinkering. The base is almost there. Going to try to get some figure photos up and the whole thing next weekend.

Funny you should mention 102 Joe, it was 91F/33C/-296 Kelvin here. I took the top off the car and went for a drive, by the time I got home I was too baked to get the photos of the figures taken or much of anything else...) Dead

Hey Gang. Finally feel as though I have some viable progress to share. The other day I shot a gloss coat on the cockpit parts and fuselage with Alclad aqua gloss in preparation for an oil wash:

I actually got a healthy dose of time at the bench today mainly due to the fact that it was a 102 here and I was none to keen on working in the yard. I applied the oil wash and finished all of the cockpit PE. Thanks for having a look.

Well, i didn't think one would do it justice, and those little boats and figures deserve as much attention as the Prinz himself.

Thanks again.

Steve, absolutely amazing work on Der Prinz. The detail's just mind boggling! Please send some of those in to FSM, I'd love to see them in an upcoming issue. Great job. Your hard work paid off.

You sir, are filled with masterful talent and skill and I am personally honored that you have shared them with us. I can only hope that he finds a place of honor somewhere where an incredible number of folks can gawk their brains out at your work. Thank You. Thank so much.

Steve, i can only echo the others, WOOOOOOOOOOOW, that is really something. Ashide from the ship, which is amazing, i love how you have set it. The water really makes me think of a tropical lagoon. It just pains me to think what was about to happen to this lovely ship.

I will get to the pics in a bit, and if you don't mind, i will take a couple of liberty's as i think it deserves it.

Steve,

Wow! Spectacular job on this build! You should take some pictures in black and white, I bet you could convince some they are real pictures of Eugen. I can't say enough good things about this build!

Thanks guys, Here are a few more picturs without the background. I must have taken 50 of the "sea" pictures and just couldn't, for the life of me, get them level to the horizon. Dangit, I'll have to take some more for my records and hopefully get them level.

I’m done with the Eugen, he was a fun build and wouldn’t mind building him again but as German 1945.
The scene portrays the Eugen a day before bomb test Able and most of the crew is waiting to disembark.
Enjoy the pics.
Bish, I'mthinking pic 3 or 5 for the wall if you like.
