BrandonD,

Your 162 looks outstanding! The camo pattern fits it extremely well! I think I might have to add one to the stash!

Just a small update for now. I got the engine mounted. Tamiya engineered this very well to be held in place with poly caps and metal rails, but since I broke the interior structure of the engine, I had to glue mine. No big deal, and I managed to glue it without messing up the paint job, which might be a new thing for me.

I also realized I left out half the cockpit when I built this - control stick, gunsight, harness and the window into the nose wheel well. No big deal, as I planned to show it with an open canopy, but I think I love the lines so much with it closed that I will add the aforementioned parts and close it up again. It just looks too cool like this, and it's big enough and clear enough to still see inside what is really kind ofa boring cockpit anyway.

Thanks Bish,

The research continues. I found two more thing which were different and added for the test a Bikini. The rangefinder located on top on the bridge was removed and was replaced with a 4 legged stand for the antenna. Also the single AA gun located just in front of the admiral’s bridge was removed and some kind of square antenna replaced it.

I just keep finding more as I go.

Ahhh, some whitecaps would make it look even better.

Good luck on the 'fun' stuff like the PE and rigging.... Dead

Thanks Gam,

I did wanted a few more ripples, but yes it is satisfactory. I want to add just a wee bit of cotton here and there for a small whitecaps and break up the monotony against the hull and such.

Now comes the tough part, all the PE rails, rigging, scratching the boat booms, adding the sailors.

Steve: She's coming along great! Is the 'water' now how you wanted it? It looks pretty darn fine to me.

Have had zero time to sit at the bench this last month with kids sports and liall that taking up all my time.  Hope to find some time in the coming weeks to sit down a little bit and continue building all that resin.  Having to build and plumb two Jumo engines is a challenge, to say the least.

Brandon, that green with the satin finish looks beautiful. It really accentuates the curves of the aircraft. Will you be using a different finish for the completed model, or will you be using satin?

Everybody else: I've primed the model and I'll upload picks when I can. I've decided to skip the tools, as I was getting antsy to paint, and the way they have you bend and glue the tool clamps is finicky and annoying.

Brandon- Everything is looking fantastic. Excellent progress. As for getting the engine on, I'm certain you will nail it. By the way, Thanks.

Ok, I have been on vacation, but was able to make some progress when I got back.

Here she is as she sits now. I shot the light blue on and freehanded the demarcation line, which meant I had to come back with the green and fix a few booboos, but then it was off to clear coat and decals. I have a Kagero set of Cartograf decals which are excellent, but they didn't include national insignia or stencils, so I used the thickr Tamiya ones, and fortunately they worked out ok.

Next up is a panel line wash and attaching the engine. Hopefully I can get it on without messing up the paint job. Probably should have attached it earlier...

Thanks for looking!

Joe - I like the looks of that Corsair!

Model Crazy - Nice ship. I don't know how you ship guys have the patience with railings, chains and all that PE. But the results are definitely worth it.

Moff - that muzzle brake looks awesome. Can't wait to see more progress.

Steve: That looks fantastic!

Moff: Everything looks shipshape to me. The pistons for the spades turned out great! I'd say go for it, if you don't like it you can always paint over it.

Personally I thought Steve's was more ship shape...

Great job on the Prinz and the water. Both scare me (only in a modelling way) but I am psyching myself up to try it this year. So I have been learning a lot watching your build.

Moff, it is coming together really well. As for the colour scheme, I can think of no better GB to give it a go.

I got the color of the water right and I couldn’t resist this shot. I wanted to lighten it up to more of an Azure blue since it is near an atol an not in the deep ocean.
I also constructed the radar trailer for the bridge. It’s made from balsa wood and the dish is from scrap some PE.
I still have quite a bit to do to the ship. The aft superstructure and lots of rigging.
Diffrent lighting, diffrent color shade. This is the actual color.
And the trailer.

The building phase of the Waffentrager is done, bar some minor filling.

A special shout out to Doog for helping me scratchbuild pistons for the recoil spades...his guidance was crucial.

I'm still not entirely sure what I want my paint scheme to be - any ideas? This is what I'm currently aiming for, though I'm sure I won't be able to make it look this nice:

I was wondering about that, I just applied them directly. They were tough to line up but are so small you really have to looks to see them.

Lettering looks good to me too Steve. Did you apply them directly? You can also apply the transfers to decal paper and then use them like decals too.
