Just wanted to say thank you for this group I had lots of fun being apart of it. I got busy and lost track of my time and didn't  Finnish my second build in time.

I've never seen one in person but I do know that they are a whale size of an aircraft alright.

Thanks! Even though I've seen the real thing at the Smithsonian's hanger, I forget how large this plane is. But it does look mean

She looks like an airplane now, although I needed some filler here and there.

Thanks guys! I dry fit the cockpit into the fuselage and noticed a rather large gap behind the instrument panel that will be seen through the canopy. Looks like I'll have to add some wiring in there, but that shouldn't be too hard to handle.

Matt: I know all too well about life's priorities getting in the way. I went through that at the last part of the year last year and it do "do sum suckin' !!" . Good to see you back at it though and that Heinkel is lookin' sweet so far buddy.

SB: You've got some good detail going into that pit of yours. Really looking forward to more.

As promised, here are the pics.  The first is the cockpit and the second is the radar operator's station.  There might be some sloppy paintwork, one of the side effects of the meds they have me on is causing my hands to shake.  I think I caught all the slip ups, but if you see something let me know and I'll get it fixed.  Once the glue sets I'll get them in the fuselage.

Looks good so far Matt, I really like the look of the wood grain decals. I started on the cockpit of the Do-335 before I ended up in the hospital last month, and I'm just about done with it now. I'll get pics posted of it in the next couple of days.

It has been a low priority, work and family, and now my Masters are all in the way.

I have been able to to a bit here and there though, here is where it was before the move.

The challenge is getting all the wood grain decals down smoothly and evenly.  Since these photos were taken, I have completed the decals, tried my hand at oil paint wood grain for the nose cone and interior of the gear doors.  Will get some recent pictures together this week, hopefully.

On my He-162, I have finished all the woodgrain decals and have expiremented with oil paint wood grain for the nose and interior landing gear doors. No pictures yet, still need to get that done. Work, school and life seem to be getting in the way though. I still have not managed to get my workbench up since i moved last summer. Soon though, I hope!

Looking forward to your pics and progress Matt. Gotta hate that about the bench not being set up yet. That would drive me bonkers. lol

Jerry,

That 262 pit is looking well used!  Just right in my eyes.  Keep up the good work, and remember, late in the war aircraft were rushed into service, so not all the joins were smooth and perfect, so dont sweat it too much!

Thanks for sharing!!

Man...................that 162 came out fantastic Tony! I've always liked the looks of those birds and wanted to build one. Like I tell Bish all the time...............I just don't know how you fellas work with 72nd scale as it takes a special breed to pull of some of the cool stunts that I've seen you guys do in that scale. Awesome work bud.

I like, that, and you have it spot on. Special Breed as in not right in the head Big Smile

I agree, those 162s look really nice! Unfortunately I'll be away from the bench for a bit longer. My kidney function has gotten really low and I've been admitted to the hospital. I have a biopsy and dialysis scheduled for tomorrow, and I'll have the port put in first thing in the morning. When we get the biopsy results back we'll know exactly what we're dealing with and can treat it. So I'll be out of action for at least a week. The docs are pretty optimistic that I'll make a full recovery since my kidneys were healthy before all of this, and that the dialysis will be temporary. So keep on building guys so I can live vicariously!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Jack - I did their Dornier 335, it was much the same. I didn't like their Wildcat though, but there is the very nice Airfix kit available now, and the Hasegawa one was decent enough too. Cheers Tony

Tony, looks to be an excellent example of the 162.  Yes

Those Hobbyboss kits with the one piece wing and fuselage are interesting.

Jack

Looks great Tony. Bob. Make sure to take care of yourself first. If it's anything like what I had a couple of years ago.......I didn't have the energy to watch TV
