Outstanding work, Bobby.  They look great in flying mode!

Gun bays are coming along very nicely, Fred.

Thank you sir!  They turned out better then I'd hoped!

Blimey Bobby, so really nice work there and great in flight shots. I like the one of the Vulcan from underneath. Been fortunate enough to see that a few times with the doors open, thats an impressive site. And the in flight re-fueling shot is excellently done buddy.

Thanks buddy, i really do hope Airfix will present us with new tooled Vulcan and Vicor tankers soon, got to get me those.

Thank you sir!  You are hosting one of the best GB's this year and it was a pleasure and honor to be part of it.  The kits had to have a bit of work done to them (and the year of bad decals continues), but they are such beautiful airplanes, that they just look so dang cool hanging up there.  Thank you again!

Bobby... I agree, Vulcan is a BEAUTIFUL aircraft, well done!

Bish, I was at the LHS for my IPMS club meeting today, and the Mgr showed me the Airfix (he said) New Tooled Vulcan. It lookes AWESOME!, 1/72nd scale and its a big kit!. Think I'll have to break down and get one soon as the funds become available.

Take care...

Doug

Thank you sir!  She is looking great hanging up there.  Had to have her banking a bit to be able to see the very cool camo scheme she had on her.  It was a lot of work on a model...I can't imagine how much work it took to do in real life!

Great looking trio Bobby specially like the air refueling scene. Wasn't a Vulcan in one of the James Bond films from the mid 60's?

Hey PJ!  Thank you sir!  And I was thinking the same thing!  I remember that movie.  They landed in the water, it sank and they grabbed the nukes off of them.  Ahhh, the memories.  LOL!

Ye, Thunderball. They used 2 real Vulcans in the movie as wel as a full sized mock up.

Thunderball!  That was it!  2 real ones?!  Wow!  I bet that cost a pretty penny to do.

Bobby: WOW, the in-flight refueling display looks awesome!!! And love the Vulcan!

Fred: Nice work there! Best thing I can say is if you can't find reference photos probably no one else can either to tell you that you're wrong!

Damouav: Ack, that sucks about the decals peeling up! Still looks like you have the matter in hand, she's looking good.

Thank you sir!  The refueling turned out better then I had hoped it would.  Looks really cool!  The Vulcan...wow, like I said, the most difficult camo scheme I have done yet.  Might have just been because of its size, but it took a while to get that one done.

They were still in active service at the time. One was used in ground shots the other in flight. There is some info here along with a pic of the mock up they used for the under water scenes.

Well, here is where I am at. After a weeks break of fun and sun, I went back to the Smer Supermarine Walrus. While I can say the scratch-building of the interior was fun, assembling this sad excuse of a model has been testing my patience. You could build another model with all of the styrene I have cut, filed, and sanded off this mound of fecal matter. Has a model ever fallen off a bench and been accidently stepped on 3 or 4 times? LOL After breaking and bending a few spars and PSR a ton of gaps and such, it was off to primer...it fell off the stand and broke off the tail wheel. NO MORE PRIMING TONIGHT!

P.S. I do like the Stnylrez.

Pray for me...

Some kits just seem to be born under a bad moon, Doug.  But it's still looking good from this angle.

Bish,

I got back from Dallas and guess what was sitting of our doorstep. The 1/48 Italeri Hurricane Mk. 1 Trop.

Put me down for this one as well.

I will probably be doing it in one of the 73 Squadron markings in 1941.

Taking time in between the parts of my 1/48 diorama to knock out a quick little build of this 1/72 scale, old (Vintage 1974!) Spitfire kit from Airfix:

Doug: Well, you can tell yourself over and over once you have this one finished you'll start on a 'good' kit... Angel

Steve: Ohhhh, looks cool!

AA: Hmmm, I can't see your photos. And clicking I'm being asked to sign on to the photo site.

Hmmm, okay, I'll try posting them to another site.  I tried this new Canon Image Gateway site (I get 10 GB of image storage for free for being a Canon customer) but if it's nt allowing others to see it (even though it SAYS it's for photo sharing), I'll go back and post them to the old site I was using...

Great work so far everybody!

Bish, this is where I am. Some of this was done prior to the GB start but since I've got one gunbay opened up and I drilled out the gunports. I've assembled the wings and have a bit of filling and sanding ahead of me...

Yeah they did Bish, which is nice. They are pretty basic and I'm sure they could be dressed up a little with some scratch work. Building them up did seem to affect the fit of the topside wing but I was able to get it glued up ok.

Gamera,

Thanks!  I surprised myself at how well the pilot came out, seeing as how it was the first time I've tried painting 1/72 figures. Mostly I've just done 1/35, along with a few 1/48 figures.  Boy, that pilot was TINY.

Rooster:  great detailed work!  Very nice.

AA:  those old Spitfire kits weren't bad; yours is looking great--particularly well-done pilot figure.

I may have embellished a little as I am taking a creative writing course. It has alot of flash, every spar has sinkmarks, and it has tiny gaps from the molds on fusalage. The canopy has some blemishes, the instructions are rather vague, and some things just don't feel like they fit right. I hope you didn't spend more than the 8$ I did. I will admit some of the problems were "manmade" as I have never done a bi-plane. BTW, in my research I learned the engine is 3? degrees offset, and my engine and nacellle seem more like 10 and I still question if Smer even knew they were offset and thatsjust the way it ended up. I'll pray you have better luck with it than I did. I am hoping a good bit of paint does wonders.
