I started this adventure yesterday. Another Hellcat, from Monogram. It needs more scratch builing than I thought. I wanted to use an aftermarket seat, but the kit doesn't have a floor, so I'm making that. Need to add a stick also. It's coming along and I should be done by tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks, Mr. Stecks. I would like to do a series of aircraft in pre-war schemes but this one will just be the blue over lt grey. I’m painting with a brush and I don’t think I would have gotten the yellow covered well enough in the limited time. I hope it comes out as nice as your Hellcat.
Dave
Started painting. I'm glad I didn't try something more challenging. It's hard for me to sit at the bench for longer than 2 hours! There's no way I could build a1/35 AMX 13 or a nice looking plane like you guys did. Great job.
Griffin
The seams are taking a bit more time then I thought....but I can do this!
Steve, shamoo, Griffin, Eagle and everyone else who's building keep it up, you're doing great!
SD,
Congratulations on your AMX, it looks fantastic! Will update the front page with your pics tomorrow.
Mac,
Haven't heard from you in awhile, keep at it. Even if it's not done in time, we'd like to see it when it's done.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
I started a diffrent kit yesterday afternoon, I hope you don't mind. It is the Revell 1/144 F-5E. I was going to start it after the Kiowa so I just stated it this weekend. All times are MT.
Now at 1:35 PM Saturday 11/15
Going to let the filler dry and start on the painting.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I'm about to start my Airfix figuer conversion to a British MP. Here is what I'm starting with:
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Very cool. I've never seen those figures before. Look forward to seeing it.
Stardate 10:30am Sunday 26th Novmber 2017
After two hours of solid work.
I've worked out the basic pose:
The left arm is from the German multipose set, the remainder the British one. I want to straighten the fingers on the left hand and set him up directing traffic.
Next up, I've removed the seams from the legs and torso, and sharpened up all the pockets etc with the back of a knife blade.
I've picked a spare base from an Airfix 54mm historical figure, and drilled out and pinned his feet and legs/torso join, as I want him to stand a little straighter than the original pose. The last photo shows the parts glued together, with a fair join to fix up just below the belt, caused by my modifying the pose.
Now I'll break for some brekkie.
Nice modification work going on there. I'm getting closer. This is kinda a pain in the a$$ and fun at the same time
More progress. This is the fastest I've build a kit since I was probably 15.
It's fun challenge.
There are a lot of good builds going on here. Thanks for looking.
That's a crisp little M113.
Now for the 1pm update. I've done a lot of the heavy lifting, the body, arms at attached. I've filled the gap with Milliput, as well as making some sleeves, as they wore them for traffic direction.
I've also made a basic cobblestone base, which will take 24 hours to harden.
Griffin25 ...This is kinda a pain in the a$$ and fun at the same time

That sums up exactly how I felt the last two days. LOL. It's looking great!
Cheers, Mark
On the bench: Revel 1/48 B-25J Mitchell
In the queue: Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair

Looks like your Hellcat is coming along nicely. Does that wing go right through the fuselage?
I got the beige on for the 64th Aggressor sq. Tomorrow morning I'll hit the brown and finish it up before the deadline.
All right, one last update before the final push. 16 hours to go.
Got the main paint on, just need a bit of touch-up.
I see at some point I will have to go back and do a better job on the seam on the lower fuselage. We'll see how the rest comes out before I make that decision. Need a couple more coats of white on the rudder then I can add the red stripes. Also the landing gear assembly was a nightmare, so I have changed it to a gear up pose. Just need to fit the doors and paint them. The rest of the externals are painted and ready to go. Hope to apply decals in the morning! Dave

Mark, the wing does go through the fuselage. It’s very tight, almost enough to not need glue. I did anyway to make it solid.
Last update for day 1:
I had to wait quite a while for stuff to dry, so I only got back to it later this evening. I've got base coats down on most parts, lots of highlighting, shading and detail painting tomorrow.
Kinda end at my rope right now. Went to a dinner party last night so I couldn't work on the Corsair other then get a final coat of paint on it. Woke up early to tacky paint, so I put on a coat of clear. That worked so now I am putting on the decals. The cowel WILL NOT be getting yellow on it. About an hour ago, I was trying to get the cap unstuck on my only bottle of Insignia Yellow enamel and the bottle shattered in my hands. So me and my surrounding workbench got a nice bath of MEK.
Decals are going on good, then its adding the landing gear, gear doors, engine, and a few odds and ends, and I have an hour to go!
Scott
I am done, 9:32am. Except I wrote down 9:30 on my notepad, but the time Istarted was actualy 8:30, so I did not make it, unless, I use Mountain time, then I ended 2 minutes over. All this time I thought I had to end by 9:30.
Regardless, this morning has been one disaster after another. I am glad I am finished!
Sorry to hear about the yellow paint debacle. But it looks great!
Chad
God, Family, Models...
At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
To those that are building, keep it up! You can do it!
Scott,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. You should take pride in your effort. Despite your troubles, you carried on until the job was done, congratulations. Which pic would you like for the front page?
I made it with 1:50 to go. Actually a bit more than that but I had to run for birthday cake at my sister’s and realized I hadn’t taken a pic with a time stamp.
It looks a lot like what I built in junior high.
The decals started falling apart coming off the backing To b expected given th age of the kit. Lewbud, here’s one for the gallery. This was a fun challenging build. Looking forward to next time. Dave

Shamoo,
Congratulations! Looks great! Front page is updated.
Ok I'm done with 2 hours to spare. Worked a total of 11 hours on it. It was nerve racking and a few things are a little askew but I like the way it came out. I'm not sure about that shovel. It looks like Paul Bunions shovel! Lol. As for the rest of the kit Trumpeters 1/72 scale is closer to 1/87. I'm glad I participated. Thanks!
Excellent job on the 113!
On Ed's bench, ???
Thanks for the congrats everyone. Shamoo, I know how you are feeling, its been four hours and fisheyes are appearing in my clearcoat LOL. I guess some things can't be rushed. Hey, we finished, and your Wildcat turned out swell.
Mine too looks like I built it back in Jr High, but back then I DID build a complete model in a weekend. And the one I built in Jr High got the yellow band painted on the cowel. Gees, I'm getting old and slow.
Lewbud, please use the first picture for the front page. Nice to compare the finished model to the box it came in. And again, thanks for hosting this GB, its always been a fun challenge.
I think I will build a tank for next year. You guys made it look easy.
68GT Excellent job on the 113!
Thanks bud !
