Well, decal problems aside, I‘m finally ready to call the Bf-109c DONE!

Relatively pleased with the final results.  Although the decals were a big disappointment, the fit and finish of the HobbyCraft kit was excellent, and the Tamiya paint I used for the topside (my first time using Tamiya paints) was also very impressive.  I‘ll definitely use more Tamiya paints in the future!  So here‘s the final result:

Yeah, thanks Jack, I already do all those things. These are just impossibly thin to work with. Any movement of the decal at all, and it loses its shape and just collapses into a tiny pile of film. Just an example of taking a good thing too far...

Eric, sorry to read about your decal woes.

I find adding a drop or two of water to the surface area before applying the decal helps prevent quick adhesion.   Once in place, use the edge of a tissue to absorb the excess water.

regards,

Jack

Well, I’m really NOT a happy camper!  I know a common complaint among us modelers is decals that are too thick and heavy.  But the opposite can also be true, as I have just found out!  I cannot caution strongly enough AGAINST using Print-Scale decals!  They are ridiculously thin, I mean thin as the film of a soap bubble!  Thus, no weight, no form at all, so unless when you slide them off the paper they fall into precisely the right position on the model, you’re pretty much screwed.  No amount of Mark-Fit, Micro-Set, etc., will help.  No matter how gently you try to nudge the decal into position, the slightest touch will cause the decal to crumple into a heap, as their is not enough form or weight to the decal to allow it to be moved as one solid piece.  I’ve already used over half the decals on this sheet, with most of them crumpling into an unsalvageable mess.  Really, save your time, money, and sanity and stay away from this product!

Hey Andy... Ive caught up on some prior commitments and would like to do another of the Pride of the Luftwaffe build if ok. I have another Hasagawa FW 190 that I would like to do as a G3 fighter \ bomber configuration. I have to go back through the completed page and update comments on the amazing work being done!  Thanks and take care! Doug

I'll be starting on my Ta-152 before long, just need to clear the bench a bit.

Yep, it’s coming along pretty nicely.  I had a little trouble fitting the completed cockpit into the fuselage halves, so the cockpit rides a little low, but once the canopy is on I don’t think it will be noticeable to most observers...

Nice model of a 190 John, it looks right, with good scale appearance. You've made me feel all 190ish now, I think I'll have to go and build me one !

Cheers

Tony

Then I've succeeded!  The 190 is my favorite WW2 plane

That's looking good Eric, you don't see many 109Cs !

You must be close to closing it up.

Cheers

Say Rooster, I'd like to change one of my entries for the group build. I had originally intended to build a 1/48 Airfix Bf109-E4/Trop, but I'd like to pull that back and exchange it with a real hangar queen I've had sitting unopened on my shelf forever, a 1/48 HobbyCraft Bf-109C. I was going to finish it in Spanish Civil War markings; even though this build is "Pride of The Luftwaffe," that should be okay, right? I mean, it's the same plane, and a lot of these pilots (Condor Legion) went on to fly for the Luftwaffe, or were already Luftwaffe pilots.

Hi again,

The FW190 A5 (Eduard 82143) is all new tooling!
And comes with 2 cockpit tubes and 3 alternative options for the instrument panels.

Preprinted PE.

Decals on flat parts.

Molded (very good) detail.

I will try to combine decals & molded, this gives me a PE spare for future use :)

Very Best Regards

Thank you :)
I will start with the ROG F-8.

And hope I can get on in a timely manner.

Some work on the engine and fuselage, not happy with the XF-63 as substitution for RLM 66. So the first 1/48's will be in XF-50.

If You could help:
Need some references pictures to do the 1/32 engine justice. In this scale it is screaming for add on details even with the xlnt level allready provided.

All comments wellcome :)

Very Best Regards

Toshi, excellent work, and you even managed to match the paint of the red band with the red insignia decal located at the front.Yes
