I think the T-34 will look great once you do all the other weathering.

Nice work on that jeep Rob.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Hey Rob, glad to have you join the GB.  Roster updated.  Looks like you are going to able to salvage that "vintage" kit, and looks like you are having fun doing it.  Looking forward to seeing what you do with that kit.

It's not that vintage, from the late 1990s. I got it in the early 2000s. Best part of the kit is the decals. Too bad there are no marking instructions. I'll use the better decals on the Tamiya kit.

Not my photo, but this was the logo I had to remove from the bed.

That's a neat little car Bob. I hope you can find some headlight replacements.

I started my Tamiya GAZ 67B, but then decided to build an AER GAZ 67 before doing the Tamiya kit. AER is a company from Moldova and the kit is fairly poor, about on par with an ancient 1960s Lindberg car kit.

The only thing the AER kit has over the Tamiya kit is the decals. They are well done and there are quite a few options. Unfortunately, there are no marking placement guides beyond the box art.

Decent amount of parts, and it was quite tricky to align the body panels. There was a huge AER logo molded in the bed of the truck that I had to shave away.

It doesn't look too bad when the body is built.

There is plenty of detail on the underside, but what is there is very simple and looks like it was made with just styrene rod and blocks. Not very refined.

There are supposed to be three clear parts, but my kit must have been missing them. One is the windshield and the other two are the headlights. I cut a replacement winshield out of a thin piece of clear plastic. I will have to resource replacement headlights from the spare parts box.

The instructions are extremely simple, but were very helpful in cobbling together this little kit. Just a half page with the diagrams shown, no marking or painting guides. I want to do that shiny green paint job that looks like they bought the paint from Rustoleum.

That T34 is looking good. I think your chipping job is working well. Realistic stuff.

Man, some great work here.  I have been slacking.  I finally got back to the T-34.  Using the hair spray technique I did the winter camo and chipping.  I have not done any other weathering yet but I think I may have gone a little to far with the chipping.  I would like some second opinions before shooting another mist coat of the white to fill it in a little.

Perhaps once all the other weathering is done, the chipping will blend in and not be dramatic as it seems to be now.  Click on pics to enlarge.

Hey SD, those Friuls look fantastic.  Like the metal barrel too.  That is a very nice kit, and you are doing a great job on it.

To sand the mold lines off the wheels I carved a piece of sprue to fit in the hole then put it in my Dremal at low speed and held it up to some sandpaper. This is my prefered method for sanding wheels as it only takes a few seconds per wheel to remove the mold lines.

I got the suspension built up:

The Friuls took longer than I expected, but they are defenitly worth it. I did some dry fitting and it finaly looks like a tank:

WOW!!  Just like that - two completed builds!

modelcrazy - what can I say?  Great, great perfect water based vignette for the PT-76!  Can't think of a better way to show a vehicle doing what it was designed to do in its environment!  Yes

crown - super work on the T-55 Beast!  Love the dirty, dusty look!  Oh, and nice Hulk model too!  You need to get that built and "greened up"!

I've had to slow down on my two builds.  Been having lots of neck and back pains, probably from too much time hunched over the bench Dead...guess that happens with ageBlack Eye

Great job on that kit, Nick.  I think you nailed the dusty look!  Thanks for being a part of the GB!  I am going to use the last picure for the front page, if you don't mind.

Looks great Nick. It looks like I'm watching The Beast with the crazy tank commander (tank boy). Yes

That is an impressive dio Steve.  Do you have a preference for which picture to post on the first page for completed models?

You make this look like it is easy (and we know it isn't).  Just about the best complement I can think of.

I'm done with the PT-76. I made the spray from the jets but just couldn't get them to look right so I removed them. The tank seems to be able to swim with or without them so I'm leaving them off.
