Thanks Nick, The brown will be toned down some as more layers are added. Your seeing the deep shade.

Nice tracks Yes I have a problem painting with tracks, something I need to work on.

waynec

once in a while i get a sam or hole that does not want to fill. on to 6th attempt. rest of primer looks good.

I hate when that happens. The filler absorbs primer and any discontinuity sticks out like a sore thumb.

Soon it will be green and wet!

The first thing I thought of the Creature form the Black Lagoon LOL.

Thank you Bufflehead,Gam and Nick.

I sprayed a few shades of green and this is where it's at now. Time for some washes and some detailing while I work on the base some more.

What a terrific paint job. Love the shading.

Big like modelcrazy. Are those slightly diferent shades of green or is it just me?

You figured out my secret Wink Yes, there's 3 diffrent shades on top of the black base, which adds to the effect.

Now for the base. A few days ago I added another coat of med acrylic gel and stippled it on to create ripples. When this had dried I sanded the peaks down so they wouldn't be so sharp. Today, after getting some brown tube acrylic, I mixed it up with white and water and applied that as a base coat. I will add differing shades once this dries.

ManCityFan

Hey Nick, the MG looks pretty awesome.  Was trying to find "The Beast" on Netflix, but no luck.  Looking forward to more progress pics.

Think I have the seams conquered.  I think.  My new rule of thumb is when the sanding seems enough....sand some more.  Big Smile

You can rent "The Beast" on Amazon. You got Amazon on that island? Smile

thank you gamera started the dusting with vallejo pigments we will see how it goes pics to follow.

\

curious to see how they work vs my stash of earth tone pastels and Tamiya powders.

ON ANOTHER NOTE. on the viewports on German armored cars and PZ-1, is the slit at the bottom for veiwing when ot is closed. do these even have armored glass in them? it's not Russian but there are enough tank guys here.

did a test prime and it looks like it is warm enough to prime the BTR in the garage YEA!!!

Dwayne - nice color on the KV-1!  Never used Mission Model paints, may have to try them out soon!

castelnuovo - quite the unique camo job on the BTR-70!  Would not have expected the use of shish-kabob skewers for applying it, but it came out splendid!

modelcrazy - the PT-76 is coming alive!  Soon it will be green and wet!

No update on the JS-3 or T-62 today.  I opted for some sorely needed spring cleaning at home vs bench time. All I did was assemble the fuel tanks for both kits....but at least the kitchen floor is shiny!!Stick out tongue

Thanks Griffin. I saw the cammo, if I remember well, on some military vehicles back in Croatia, I think. Or maybe I saw something similar on some guys uniform there. I has been a while...

I need to pick up some brown acrylic tube paint tomorrow for the river water but I did paint a NATO black base coat on the PT.

The base green will be the only color on it which will make a nice canvas for some weathering.
