Wow, I didn't check the forum yesterday, and there is a lot of good stuff going on.

I have not had the pleasure of putting together a MiniArt kit yet.  They seem to be similar to Dragon (I own a couple, but have not put one together yet) in terms of part count and detail.  Is that a fair assessment?  They appear to be pretty detailed OOB builds.

Thanks guys! It is a wonderful MG. It beats any resin pieces I've seen.

Thanks Tony and Gam,

I really like the Revell 1/72 armor. I built the SdKfz 7 a little while back and was surprized by the detail. I have the Abrams in the stash and will be looking forward to that one as well.

Dutchman: Yeah, I've the same problem with the plastic being really brittle and soft. I've been being very careful but I've still gouged a few parts here and there.

Griffin: Wow, that does look so good I'd swear it were aftermarket too.

Steve: Looks cool, I may have to try one of these to decompress after this kit.

CN: I built a few of these and have been really happy with the quality. Both their T-62's and Chinese Type 62 were good solid kits.

I built a couple of the little Revell Abrams, they were really nice. I felt better than the Dragon one which found its way into the bin. Looking forward to the T-72. Cheers Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

All right, time to tackle this baby....Tons of parts, should keep me occupied (out of trouble Smile) for a while. The first impression is good, the plastic looks and feels good, kind of like Dragon quality.

To be continued...

Nice work going on here guys.

I started the T-72 and like other Revell 1/72 armor it's falling together. Lots of little parts but nice fit.

Working on the DShK. Needs some black pin washing on the green frame I think.

The fit is very good, however the plastic is quite brittle an I have had to fix/replace several pieces already.

Lol Dutchman, when I first saw that bucket of sprues I thought 'must be a MiniArt' kit since my pile is about that big!

I think you'll enjoy it, the fit on my MiniArt kit is excellent.

Yes, according to the dictionary-

assemblage

the act of assembling : the state of being assembled

an artistic composition made from scraps, junk, and odds and ends (as of paper, cloth, wood, stone, or metal)

...and plastic, resin etc

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I didn't think I could finish the weathering in time.

Why didn't you do this one for the Weekend Madness GB SD? Wink

Started on my SU-85 today. I would have started it sooner, but was a little busy with the Weekend Madness build. For AM I am using Friulmodel tracks and a metal barrel from RB Model.

Dwayne: Looks good! Sorry to hear about the pain but it's good to hear your back is healing. Yes

Thanks guys.  Honestly, the back isn't too bad as long as I don't push it.  But having had the debilitating pain, and getting on the other side of it, I really am taking it easy.  Right now it is just soreness in the lower spine, but my PT says that is to be expected, is a sign that I am healing properly, and will fade with time.  Gotta take care of myself so I can get back to some proper bench time.

Good on you for persisting D, I've had that problem in my lower back in the past and its quite debilitating. Your work doesn't show it though, it looks good. Cheers Tony

So I have been working on my KV-1 in short sittings, about 15 - 30 minutes at a time, which is all my back can handle right now.  Feel like I am slowly on the mend, so hopefully I will get longer sessions soon.  Here is where I am now:

Starting to look like a tank.  This kit really shows its age.  Short on details, and very few parts.  Close to paint stage, although it will slow down as I switch my main focue to an F4F build for the Midway GB.  I do the running gear off the model, then paint the chassis, add the wheels, then work on the tracks.  Attaching the hull to the chassis is the last thing I do before weathering.

Jaguar makes some really nice resin figures, never bought any of their other products like this though.

I found the fuel drums on eBay.  They are made by a company called Jaguar, never heard of them but the price was right, there was very little clean up and they have a great beat up look.  The drums that came with the kit were atrocious.  If I had not found these resin ones, I would have built the T-34 without any external tanks.

Those do look good Route62!

I've seen spare fuel drums in some kits come pre-dinged and dented- I'm thinking some of Dragon's kits?

lewbud

I'd like to join up.  I've got a classic Tamiya T-62 in the stash waiting to be built, or if I get up the nerve, an Eastern Express 1/35 BRDM-U. Definitely the Tamiya though.

Welcome to the GB comrade.  This runs a year, so if you decide to add the BRDM-U, you have some time.  Roster updated.  Looking forward to seeing WIP pics.

The resin fuel tanks for my T-34 arrived the day before T-day.  After stuffing my face today, I found a couple hours to glue them on.
