LA that helo is looking sharp nice masking. The hunters belly is preshaded and sprayed with thin tamiya sky the trick is when to stop lol . The steering wheel in the pic is for my Rommel’s Rod that I’m working on simultaneously and thank you for your comments.
Bish many thanks
Gamera thank you next is the brown/dark green top side
Nick.
Nick: That looks great! Super job on the pre-shading.
Piers: Great job there on the masking!

Looking good Nick.
Griffin,
Great save on the decals there they have come up very well.
The camo is really good and the Flory wash has come up a treat.
Nick
Nice work on your Hunter too - great variation in panel colour intensity. How have you done that - pre/post shading or something else?
is the steering wheel on your bench near the nose a special mod for the Rhodesian AF?
On the Wessex, I have got the main colours down and it came up pretty well over some of the lumpy side panels:
Im going with the drk brown/drk green/sky camo .Sprayed sky this a.m.
Looks really good Griffin!
I tend to go with semi-gloss or gloss too. I'd rather remove too much since you can always go back and add a little more.
Yes, thats what i have learnt. With a gloss finish it is easy to remove to much. I need to try it on some Alclad Light Sheen, i think that will give a good mid way result, not to light, notto heavy.
Thanks guys. Bish I expiremented with the flory wash on a gloss surface with a spare tank body I use for testing. I found that it was too easy to remove too much wash. You couldnt see it except for the deepest lines and I wanted a little wear and tear look so I tried it on MM lusterless and it gave me the effect I wanted. You just got play around with it.
Griffin
Looks good Griffin, nice and subtle. I do find for a light effect Flory washes are best added to a gloss surface. I find it easier to remove. But it looks like you have done a very nice job on a flat finish.
it’s really looking sharp like the camo too... I have never used flory washes I must look in to it.
I did some weathering on the underside with Flory washes. 1st time I have used them. I know Bish and a few others really like it so I bought a set. It works well. I like the fact that you can clean it up as much or as little as you want and there is no time line to working with it as long as you dont clear coat it.
Sounds like you had a fun weekend Bruce. Glad you were able to clean it up.
@Griffin,
Nice recovery on the decals. You can't tell that you had any problems!
@Nick,
Nice start on the Hunter, looking forward to seeing when decals you go with.
I had planned to get something done on the Mig this weekend. But, Thursday night, I walked down to my basement and found it was flooded. So I spent the weekend mopping instead. No real damage because I had everything elevated from the last time it flooded. So, I'll get an update posted as soon as I can.
Bruce

1/35 Takom Merkava Mk.I
Griffin: She looks fine to me, nice work!
Nick: She's coming along great!
Thanks Griffin and Bish, the set is from cutting edge Hunters part 1. The pics that Ive seen are drk green/sea gray/silver but on this sheet it shows drk earth/drk green/sky RAF 1939 colors which I really like still not there yet but.... still looking.
Good start Nick. What are you going to use for the Rhodesian markings? Is there a aftermarket set out there? That's a real original idea. I don't think I've seen a Rhodesian themed military model of any kind.
Looks nice Nick. Seems as though it went together ok.
Looks more than ok to me Griffin. Nice job getting those decals together.
the hunter is taking shape its straight out of box build. some cleaning up here and there
LA your Wessex is looking good. Your modifications look great. I don't see no seams. We are our worst critics right. Well I have managed to hodgepodge the decals from 3 different sheets and it looks ok. I even saved 2 of the crap ones from Propagteam. They still need some TLC but I am feeling much better. Especially since I didn't have to spend more money. Haha
Piers: That's odd. The final result looks fine to me though!
LA, real nice to see it together. Can't really see any issues from here, hope you have managed to save those steps.
Griffin25 Well I started to apply the decals. They are totally useless crap. Propragteam from Cezch Rep. Need to find some different ones.

The first thing I do with Propagteam decals is throw them in the file 13. Useless!

Griffin that’s a real bummer hopefully you have a back up.
lostagain that helo looks alright.
started on my hunter pics to follow.
That really sucks Griffin.
I have had limited success printing my own, my inkjet isn't that good and the printing comes off even with a few coats of Microscale's liquid decal film over the top.
The Wessex is sealed up with all the detail I am going to do on board. As I tried to fix up the nasty seam on the nose, I managed to knock off 4 out of 6 little brass steps off. And the nose mustn't be on just right (it looks ok) as the windscreen will not line up properly either at the front or the back seam. So it is at an unhappy medium.
Gave it a shot of Tamiya can primer, the nose was still not great. trowelled filler over the seam, sanded it back, trusted to luck and gave it a shot of Tamiya white primer. Passes inspection so onto painting for real...
I am going to try that. Perhaps I can make use of some of the remaining decals. Thank you Gamera.
Griffin: If you know they're old decals you can spray a coat of clear over them to keep them from shattering. Of course you will have to cut each decal out by itself if you do this.
Just checked them out on scalemates. No date for that set but most of the others seem to be 90's. Says they are still active but link to website doesn't work. I am guessing they are old decals.
