Made a start on thye AAT a couple of weeks ago, just been working on it now and again. This is the kit.
Got the main hull together. Got a bt of sanding and filling still to do, especially down the front piece.
And the turret is complete, not to many issues there. mainly sanding away the flash.
Now my 432 is done, this will be my main focus. Not much to this kit, hopefully should be ready for primer by the middle of the week.

Nice work on the B-Wing pit, i do prefer that lighter colour.
silentbob33cwalker, I really like the new color, is it a custom mix?
SB, it is a custom mix. The instructions say to use 95% light gull grey and 5% blue. First I put in too much blue and got the darker color. So then I added more grey back in until I got to the lighter color. It still isn’t the color they show in the instructions, but it’s close.

Ted4321 hogfanfs I'm starting to like the looks of a B-Wing. There is still good in him! We can turn him back to the good side! T e d

cwalker3,
I don't like either color, you should just put this kit aside, and build a vehicle of the Empire! lol
I'm kidding, the lighter color does look very good, and the cockpit and pilot turned out very well! Between you and Nuc, I'm starting to like the looks of a B-Wing.
Well, I’ve decided to change the grey/blue color again. Here is a comparison between the new, and lighter color and the darker one.
I‘ve just finished up the cockpit and pilot. That’s the first 1/72 figure I’ve ever done, I think. Like Nuc said, it’s pretty small.
The canopy restoration was a complete disaster. I ended up buying a replacement, vacuum-formed one. It should be here in a week or so, so my progress will be limited until then.
@cwalker3,
The blue doesn't look bad, maybe a bit dark, but, workable.
@SB,
Funny, I have never taken a really good look at a TIE Striker. I didn't realize it had an elongated pod. I will say it is unique!
@Real G,
I'm glad you got the decals. They are thin, but, I never even came close to tearing one. Then held up very nicely to four coats of Micro Sol and set perfectly. What sold me on them was the chipping effect already in the decals. I'm looking forward to seeing them on your blockade runner!
Hogfanfs, I ordered the Blockade Runner decals you suggested from Evilbay. If they perform anything like they look, they should be outstanding! Thank you for the tip!

No comparison between the aftermarket decal and Bandai's super sucky stickers! I LOVE the chipping effect.

I tore down the kit back to it's components, then glued whatever I felt I could and still allow for painting.

“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Thanks guys, those pilots are rather small. I think I need to get a set of optivisors or magnifing glass to help out.
cwalker, not sure what colors to paint it yet. I do not think I am going with the standard colors though.

Looks good Bob, certainly makes a change to the usual TIE Pod.
Thanks for the kind words guys!
I finished the main construction on the fuselage (I guess that's what you'd call it?).
Silentbob33, nice work so far. That would look so good lit up.
Nuc, good job with the pit and the pilot. What colors are you planning for that kit? I mixed up a custom white/grey and then found that Vallejo white/grey was a perfect match for what they called for in the instructions.
The bluish color has been a little more of a problem. First I shot on a coat of Vallejo light gull grey, but didn’t like it. I thought it was too grey. Next I mixed some blue with the light gull grey, and while it looked perfect when I tested it, on the model it looks too blue. I think m just going to leave it as is now.
This is a sample of what it looks like:
I painted the TIE I built with Testors Model Master Light Grey FS36495. I did do pre-shading before painting which did make the light grey a bit darker. I'm looking forward to seeing how your's turns out.
@Stephen,
Great job on the cockpit and the pilot! the pilot does not look like 1/72 scale. Again great job!
Nice work there guys! Looking forward to more!!!
Looking good Nuc. Great job on the pilot.
Looks good Bob. You can't see much in those ball cockpits can you. I was looking at getting some resin ones for my Fine Molds TIE's but then thought whats the point.
Nuc, nice start, i like the pilot and the pit is looking good.
Those 3D printed parts are awesome! I can't wait until I can get my hands on one.
Nuc that looks really great! Love the painting on the pilot.
I finally got around to finishing the cockpit, and there really wasn't a whole lot to it. I painted it in Panzer Gray and dry brushed with RLM 75. Gloss, decals, then flat.
So, getting started with the cockpit. This version comes with a sulustan pilot, I believe the SDCC one has a human pilot.
Stephen
Alright, getting started on the B-wing. For right now here are the sprues shots, I know they have been shown before but seems a good way to start.
Started on the cockpit and pilot tonight, I will get some photos up tomorrow.
John: Very cool!!!
Our library has a 3D printer that I've used for a few items so far like this cartoony samurai for the Silly Egg GB.

hogfanfs Very nice! What model 3D printer do you have? I'm interested in picking one up, and value the input from experienced 3D printer users.

I now have what I would consider a actual 3d printed stash of future projects. it's almost like work ing in a toy store sometimes. Now if I new solidworks better it would be even worse.
John, very nice work on those, i take it they don't take long to print off. Going to be an interesting dio.
