Sorry for not getting the front page updated. Been trying to make up for the time i lost when my back was playing up and catching on with my 432 build. Was hoping it would be done by now so i could get straight into this GB.

We all kick off tomorrow, if you are not on the list yet, don't worry, your still included. Will update it when i can. For now just crack on with your builds.

I've got such a backlong on other stuff right now so I'm not sure when I can start in earnest but Han is ready to go.

I have two GB's to finish, but, I will be digging into Vader during this time. Just need a couple more things to properly accessorize Lord Vader...

I'm almost done with my current project, so I should be ready to go in a day or three.

Oh no, I completely brain-farted. I read the start date, but it just didn’t register. Not to worry though. I have something else on the way, plus, this came in the mail the other day. I haven’t done one of these before, and PE has never been one of my favorite things to work with, but I’ll give it a shot.

walker, you want me to add that to the roster.

I built the AT-AT a couple of years ago and rather enjoyed it. I really should get a couple more.

Funny, used to have more types of kit manufacturers for this group build. Only Bish and Gamera have strayed from building a Bandai kit. I am looking forward to that Feddy tank though.

Ye, i was thinking it might be that way, they do seem to have stolen the show. I am still to see if the fuss about them is justified, i still like the FM kits myself.

The Rebel Scum make a move into the GB!

Bandai's teeny Mecha-Collection Blockade Runner is just bursting with fine details which put other kit makers to shame.  I drilled out the pin sockets and scraped down tabs to allow the kit to be easily slipped together to check for fit and to allow disassembly for painting.

The above photos are without any glue.  Loosening the snap fit pins and tabs improve parts fit from good to near perfect.

The kit's only real weakness is that those cursed stickers are provided for the red markings.  I'll have to paint them on instead.

Real,

Check out these decals on ebay: Here

I bought some from this same seller for the 1/144 X-Wing and Y-Wing, and they are really good quality. They are thin, yet sturdy, and took serveral coats of Micro Sol and set very nicely. Take a look at the Death Star Attack set I posted at the bottom of page one of this thread. You will see the X-wing and Y-wing with the decals.

That is, unless, you want to paint the blockade runner. Yes

Hogfanfs, thanks for the decal tip - duly ordered!

Ted, I loved K2SO!  He was my favorite character in Rogue-1.

Thanks to a late start this morning (electricity out at the office) I got a chance to start R2.

First dilemma. I'm not a very good modeler. If it's not straight from the box, paint and glue, I'm almost clueless :)

While I like the engineering and fit of the Bandai kits, they are pretty much intended to be snap fit no paint endeavors. I don't like the look of leaving R2's dome in the colored plastic. The waves and discoloring in the silver, as well as the seams have to go. Getting rid of the seams means putting the dome together with the blue parts already in since they insert from the inside. If I can do a good job of masking the blue then I think I can pull it off. I just need to find a brushed stainless steel paint that works.

Oh that's cool Hoggarth! At least the blue areas are mostly rectangular in shape.

Bish, no, I'd like this to be my official entry:

The MF will just be something to occupy me while waiting for paint to dry.

Thanks,

Hoggarth, try painting the parts first. When you put them together you can fix the seams and then touch-up those areas.

Hoggarth, when I built mine, I masked the blue pieces before I installed them. And, a couple of them can be inserted after the dome is assembled.

Bish, thanks and will do on the MF. I did a little on that yesterday while I waited for the B-wing trees to dry after washing them. Boy, that metal is tough to cut. I tried cutting with an Xacto, which is what I normally use on PE, but a blade hardly nicked it. Had to resort to spruce cutters and then file off the leftover bits.

Here, here.  I think it was awesome they kept him in all the movies with sitting scenes and such.  And you are right...he has passed the baton off with class and style.  He will be missed.  I wonder if he got any scenes in Ep. IX?  That would be very fitting and a great ending for his career.  *ENDGAME SPOILER*  I was glad to see Mr. Stan Lee getting a final cameo in Endgame.
