Cheers guys, got a few ideas for the weathering. Thinking of trying hairspray which i have never done before. It is a good size, its about a fot front to back.

Clint, now there's not a lot to it.

I thought the members of this group build might like this.  It's a re-make of the famous battle between Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi on the Death Star.  Someone did a fantastic job on the CGI.  I apologize for interrupting the GB.  Smile

Took a quick glance at it last week and thought it was pretty cool. Not sure it fits all that well into 'SW' the original film but still very cool.

Thanks for that Gary. I thought it was well put together, and it made the fight more interesting. I liked the link back to Ep III.

I would have to say that both of them are quality renditions of that classic scene.

I'm going to have a slight change in plan.  My choice of aircraft gray won't work because I don't have enough paint in the bottle and I don't know when I'll be able to make it to a hobby shop.  So I'm going with a back up of dark aircraft gray from a rattle can.  On the bright side, no one can show me a real TIE and tell me I'm wrong Stick out tongue

Bish,

I started the TIE Intercepter.

I've never built a Bandi kit but wow, their fix is excelent.

I just need to paint it.

Steve

Shhh...you'll blow my cover Zip it!

That's a great start Steve!  The TIE Striker is my first Bandai kit as well and I'm blown away by it.  As you say, the fit is superb.

Steve, hate to tell you this, but thats a TIE Strike

Striker, Intercepter, Fighter, whatever it takes.

Like Michael Keaton said in Mr Mom, 210, 211. whatever it takes. Wink

BTW, I picked up a Metal Earth TIE Fighter today and wanted to give it a try. If I can use if for the GB all the better.

I was able to get everything painted, sealed with a gloss coat and the 5 decals put on.  I'm not overly happy with the color, but I don't think it looks too bad.

I was wondering if this had started yet. I'd like to join up with my perpetual entry of MPC's 1/48 ROTJ TIE Interceptor, which I think I bought shortly after the movie came out.  Perhaps this build will see it done.

Well, I wrapped that one up quicker than I thought.  This is a great kit, detail and fit are awesome.  I'm glad I have more Bandai kits in the stash.  Thanks for hosting Bish, and pick whichever one you want for the front page.

Some more progress on the AAT. I got the hull together. It did need quite a bit of filling where the upper and lower hulls joined.

Then time for some paint. I wanted to get some heavy chipping on this for a change and thought i would give hairspray a try. So after primer i applie an alclad mix of Duralkanium, white aluminium and a touch of steel. Over this i gave a ligt coat of gun metal, trying to come up with something not of this world. The Alclad gunmetal has a touch of purple in it, very different fom the Tamiya gun metal i am used to. But i liked it.

So after some hairspray, i'll get to some painting.

That looks great so far Bish! I really like the shade you came up with. Depending on timing, I'd love to do another. I'll just have to see how it all works out.

Thanks Bob. I thought the gun metal added a sort of spacey feel to it.

I hope you can, but in the meantime will lok forward to seeing that 88.

Bob: Great job!!! The paint looks right to me and nice job on the space weathering! Just wish you had a nice space background for her... Confused

Lewbud: Going back to the original!?! I've got a few kits I've been sitting on for twenty years or more but nothing quite that far!!!

Bish: Very cool looking! I'd guess the Trade Federation would use some sort of super-futuristic alloy to make these things so it does look 'right'!

PS: Steve: good luck with your TiE Striker and the Metal Earth TiE Fighter. (Sorry, confusing we have two Strikers in the build...)

Bish,

I'm done with the Striker, to fly along side with Bob's. I wanted to add the Imperial insignia to the base. I printed it on decal paper and found my ink is water soluable. Does anyone have a soultion to keep the ink from falling off when immersed in water? I used to have access to a HP printer, since HP ink does'nt melt in water, but alas no more.

Use whichever pic you want. Now on to the making the fighter.

I added some spare PE to the, engine?? just to add some intrest. not that anyone would look. Huh?
