knox

Long time coming, but my plane is ready for paint.  It was a little stressful. My modeling is really for fun, ( my figures are my serious work), but I dont ever want the person running the group build to think I just don’t care.  I think being a part of a group build is really rewarding.  I will just have to see if I’m up for any more.  Lots of fun ones starting next year.  I should be able to finish paint and decals before the end of the year.  Honey dos and shopping are done, and I’m off the week of Christmas.

Looks good, be nice to see some paint on her.

Just a remonder, the GB has just under 4 weeks to run. But as always, as lng as your entry is on the front page, please feel free to continue to post your builds after the 31st Dec. I don't want anyone to rush to meet a dealine.

Thanks Cliff. Here's another progress update. My goal is to be painting next week.

I'm going to use the kit decals. They're a little similar to a 109 I already have on the shelf, but there are no others in my decal stash, which is ridiculous. I'll have to rectify that.

Cheers

Tony

Taken a while to get this painted and decals on, mainly because of all the work on the victor, but i have finally got there. I used Xtracolor Camoflage grey and then added some medium sea grey for the nose, top of the tail and the leading adges to the tail and forward stabilizer's.

I know the exhausts should be open when its on the ground, but the only place that had the open ones was a site in Germany and they wanted £20 just for postage. these cost less than 20 with postage from Poland. I don't normally skimp when i need something for a kit but that was just to much.

And then the decals went on. The left side serial broke up completly. I was able to use the first 3 digits from the serial for the other marking option, but i had no numbers in the right size for the rest so i painted on the 2 and 1.

Next i'll give it a gloss coat to seal the decals before some light weathering. In the meantime i can get the decals on the Victor.

Thanks G, no, i have glued them in place. They are always set at that angle on the ground, at least on RAF aircraft. I believe its to allow the access ladder to be put in place.

frank, i know the GB's can get a bit over whelming. At one point i was commited to or running 10 GB's at once, i really had to limit myself.

Now thats a nice stuka, love how he has done the scheme, i am doing the same subject next year in 72nd scale. I take it thats the Trumpeter kit.

Hey, Bish. I know I've been scarce lately. Over the summer I just became overwhelmed by the number of group builds I committed to and I began to burn out. Had to take a break for a while.

Anyway, Modelpalooza happened over the weekend. The IPMS chapter I'm in hosted the event. The first such event in almost two years. The place was jamming! This Stuka was on display on one of the contest tables. I thought you would like to see the model. The models entered in the contest were just off the scale for quality. What an event. So, here's the Stuka.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

The engine arrived over a week ago but i was slwed down a bit by the Victor. But its now in and everything is together, masked and ready for primer.

Not much to report on the Typhoon. After some dithering, i decided i did like the Hasegawa exhausts, detail is not very good. So i have ordered some Res Kit ones from Poland which are on their way. So i got as much done as i could and have been focuseing on the Victor.

I got the tail on the fuselage and a few small bits added.

And i got the main undercarrage bays painted.

I've since added the nose and the pod on the other end of the wings. But for now its awaiting its engine, than it can all go together.

Glad to hear it went well. Sometimes you need a bit of walking just to clear your head from work.

Umhmmmm... got a Dragon 1/48th Ju-188E-1 Racher (Avenger) I've had in the stash so long it's got sabertooth cat claw marks on it. Might the time to pull that out finally...

PS: Dang you Bish! Now I wanna do more Luftwaffe camo and have been looking around at FW-190s... Devil

Sorry mate, missed your post before. Yes we did thanks, lots of walking (i had not realised Cornwall was so hilly). Lots of small secludid beaches which take some effort to reach but are worth it. Was nice to get away. Planty of 190's around, hope you got a Junkers for next year.

My first progress report on the Typhoon FGR.4. I am building this alongside the Victor so despite it not being a big kit, it won't be a quick build. I've ben more used to old Hasegawa kits of modern subjects which tend not to include ordanace, but this one is loaded with it. In fact its quite forward looking. The kit was released in 2012 but there are several weapons which had not yet been cleared for the Typhoon. But i'll be doing the box art aircraft during Op Ellamy in 2011, shortly after the type was cleared for the Air to Ground role. I do like the Typhoon, i saw them up close in the Falklands during my 2 and 3rd trip down south.

I'm adding some EDuard PE, and some resin wheels and seat as well as other AM parts. The Pavla seat included molded on seat belts but i cheate and layethe pre coloured PE over the raised belts.

And got this fitted and the fuselage together. Nothing difficult so far.

And got the wheel wells reading. The instructions call for white in the wells and intakes, but they should be Light Aircraft Grey, so thats what i will use.

More soon.
