That cockpit looks sweet!  And a collector's item to boot from Squadron.  Wonder who bought all their molds for the AM sets, hope someone did.

 

Thanks John. They used to have some great sales on stuff just like this pit set that I paid like $8 or less . I bought decal sheets for.50 each. The  decals for the 1/48 checkerboard F84 that I had in the aircraft section as aWIP only cost me .50!

That Cat is coming along nicely PJ! That is one of my favorite modern aircraft, maybe I should get around to building one...

Started a little on the Jaguar. I don't know about the unpainted PE cockpit detail at this scale, its difficult to make the detail stand out.

Fuselage buttoned up and the wings on. The fit was quite good

Going on vacation next week before my busy summer at works kicks off so it may be a while before I make any more progress

I do like the jaguar, being based on the outskirts of Norwich these were a common site above the city. Nice start on that JB, look forward to seeing more.

got the marbling coat done and polished it with 2800 grit pads in prep for the topcoat.

That looks sweet.  Can't to see what it looks like with the overcoat.

Got starte on my entry last nigt, AFV Club's 35th M109A2. Along with a Scimitar i am bulding at the same time, these are the first AFV club kits i have built that are not 251's, so looking forward to it.

I'm adding Fruil tracks, Voyager PE and Star decals. I am doing the vehicle on the right, from the 4th Arm Brig.

Spent a couple of hours on it last night and got the running gear adde.

And then started on the upper hull.

Going well so far, nice fit with just the usual AFV pour stubs on the inside that have to be removed. A bit more plastic then i will start adding PE.

Ooo...that is an exciting kit!  I have the A6 release going in the Secret Santa GB.  Santa was extremely generous.

I am rarher enjoying it and its going together well. I will be focusing on this build this week as the Scimitar has gone really quick and is almost ready for paint, so i reckon i will have the hull of the 109 done by the weekend at least.

Finally shot the gull gray on and polished the paint to smooth out the finish.

I now have the hull finished to the paint stage. I have not used all of the PE for it as some is for inside hatches i have closed and other parts are IMHO best left off as the kit parts are more realistic. I am not a big fan of voyager sets and now i only buy them where i just want a somthing to add and no one else does anything for that kit and the spares box doesn't have it (mainly anything that isn't German). So this is the hull now.

And have now started on the turret. Same again here for the PE, picking carefully what parts i use and which i don't. The barrel is from the kit.

Work on the turret continues.

Bish, marvelous work on the Paladin.  Not sure about this release, but I found it a great shame that AFV Club didn't include any basic interior details in the cavernous hull or turret in the one I am working on.  I am sure there is AM sets to remedy this though.  

Thanks Glamdring. No, there is no interiour for this either other than a very nicely detailed gun breach which seems a bit wasted. There is an interiour set from Blackdog, but as i don't do diorama's for my British armour, i don't worry about that to much unless its included, so just have them closed up. Harold is doing the same kit with the BG set and it does seem a lot of work but does look nice.

It was the same on my AS90, which is even bigger than this, but that would have meant a lot of scratchbuilding.

The  Queen got her weathered color coat and red fin tips.  The decals will be next. 

Decals are starting to dress up the Queen. Lots more to add specially tiny stencils to both airframe and missiles.

Finally got started on the Skyhawk. 

Bit of a long update. I got the turrety finished a couple of weks ago. Plenty of PE here. But i again i didn't use everything. The PE set included hinges and the locking mechanisim for the ammo locker door, but i felt the kit parts were much better. After i took the pics, i realised i had put the 4 rear bins on wrong, so they were then removed and fitted the right way.

I took a Clansman antenna mount from the spares box, this is a resin Accurate Armour piece that came with my Warrior conversion set.

Then i was ready for primer and paint. Nice easy scheme, over all desert sand, i used the Xtracolor gulf War sand, although this colour has been is use for British desert vehicles for a long time.

Followed by the decals. The decal instructions don't have an image of the rear for this vehicle, so i added the rear chevron based on the others on the sheet.

I also got the Fruil tracks together. I found these a real pain, every link had to be drilled out both front and rear. They also have different links for where the track goes round the drive sprocket and rear idler so it not just a case of sticking them all together.

After a couple of coats of Aqua gloss, tine for some weathering. I gave it a light dry brush, a panel line wash, light dot filtering and finally some steaking useing AK's DAK streaking grime.

Next up, i will be painting and adding tools and various stowage before some final dust effects.

I wrapped this up last night. Once everything was together i used some pigmenst for final dust effects. I don't have a pic of this vehicle so i based the stowage on the photo's i have found. The fabric flag is from AMP and its a bit bigger that i had expected for a 35th flag and while the other one looked out of place on my Scimitar i don't think its so bad on this.

Its been nice to build an AFV Club kit thats not a 251. Just what i would expect from them. Nice kit and i am pleased with the end result.

That is quite a pattern, well done!  Did you use a masking template or free hand it?
