Calling this done. Not my best work but it's pretty good.
GD thanks for running this.
Looks great Johnny

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Getting the weapons ready for paint and more belly staining/griming

Nope whichever you prefer. Thanks
You have been added, thanks again!
PJ - looks awesome!
I started my entry the other day, after switching projects once again. All these jets have inspired me to grab a Hasegawa 1/72 AV-8B Harrier. Thankfully it came with markings for a unit deployed to the Gulf, my income situation has eliminated all for fun spending for the last couple months.
Took some quick progress shots of the Harrier:
This is the first modern jet I have built in probably 15 years, and it has been going well so far. That concerns me...
Your Harrier is shaping up Robert
Just completed decaling the AA weapons. They need a shot of clear flat and will be ready to be mounted on The Queen.
Just gave the Queen her claws. She is almost done.
That is awesome! Those missile look like the real deal.
Have the initial coat on the Harrier. I never realized the variety of schemes on a USMC Harrier in Desert Storm, even within the same squardron. I went with one that would be easiest to brush paint, and is reasonably close to the kit decal aircraft numbers. The scheme they use in the directions looked to be post-war.
I like that scheme Robert, nice work.
Bish I like that scheme Robert, nice work.
Looks very sharp.
Thanks guys, this is a fun little kit. More or less is falling together, which is good as I said it is the first jet in a very long time...
Today was a very productive day. I have installed the pylons, drop tanks, and landing struts. I also painted the canopy frame, but no pics yet.
Tomorrow will be paint touch ups, install the sidewinders, and seal it. Hope to start decalling on Sunday and have it fully done by the early half of next week.
I start a new job next Friday, so the daily free time I have enjoyed since the middle of May will be soon gone with the wind.
Looks great Robert, love the two tone grey colors.
The F14A is completed. This Italeri / Testors Kit has good and bad things.
The good:
Great fit
Recessed panel lines
Good molded details in the wheel bays
The bad:
No nose probe, had to drill out a hole for a am pitot tube
No interior canopy details, no rear canopy deck in kit, used a piece of left over pe metal to hold the canopy open.
Pit details including seats have weak details. I used a resin pit and seats for better details.
Gun blast door has the incorrect shape.
Provided missiles are undersized and lack details. I used missiles from the Hasegawa missile
set.
That is a fantastic build, really well done! Thanks for joining! Any preference of picture?
I finally finished with my decaling, by my count there were 53 to apply. It was a multi day project:
Should be able to git'r done tomorrow.
Great job done with the decals Robert, that looks sharp. I built the Academy F4B that brought a gorgeous Cartograph Sundowners decal sheet. It took over 300 decals and stencils and several evenings to apply.
Please use the first picture for the completed page and thanks for letting me participate.
Looking good Robert. One advantage with WW2 aircraft is no where near as many decals. I still remember my Airfix Phantom, thinik that took me best part of a week to decal.
I have you updated PJ!
Bish - I agree, there is something to be said when it comes to the decal count with WW2 aircraft and my usual subject, armor. This was probably 4 times the usual number I apply to a build. Thankfully they all worked for me in the end.
I am calling the Harrier complete. It's not my greatest build ever, but all in all it went together rather well and I didn't break or lose any parts! (2 builds in a row I can claim that!)
Thanks all for looking!
On Ed's bench, ???
Thanks Ed!
It has been a busy summer and I haven't made a post in several months. There have been some amazing builds on this one and I apologize for my lack of comments.
I was able to finish up my Jaguar this week. It was definatly a challenging build with a few minor mishaps but I am happy with the results.
This was my first time using laquer paints and my AK desert pink was a liitle to dark, I tried to lighten it up a bit but didn't quite get the color right. The decals were super thin and had a tendency to fold whenever I pushed them around any. I also left several of the hardpoints empty as I didn't have the proper equipment for them.

Lookin' good! Congratulations!
Nice work on the panel lines.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day
