Bish

Thats a lovely looking Jag, she came out really well. Sorry if i missed it, but which brand of decals did you use.

Thanks Bish,

The decals were Print Scale. I also have a set from them for a Desert Storm Tornado for a future build.

That came our really well JB!  What a unique concept having AA missiles on top the wings.

Thanks for joining and sharing, do you have a preference in photo for the gallery?

Thanks Robert,

The rails on top of the wings are one of the things that I wanted to do but from what I had read about them they weren't normally equiped on the Mark1s, only on the International variant. Luckily all of the The Mark1s were  equiped with them right before they were deployed to the gulf.

I think the second pic would be my choice.

Hey!  Is it too late to sign up for this build?? Desert Storm is near and dear to my heart as I was there as a platoon leader with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault).

Looking through the completed builds reminds me of some of the vehicles and planes I encountered while there, particularly the Free Kuwait Skyhawk and the Jaguar with the Sidewinders on the 'wrong' side of the wings!  (I thought the plane was flying upside down! LOL!)  Great jobs on your builds folks!!

If I can join, I'd like to build a 1/48th scale Academy F16 that played in the sandbox.

Thanks guys!

Dave W.

Hello Dave!  Yes, you can abfsolutely join in, the build isn't ending until December 31, so there is plenty of time left.

Thanks for joining in, and thank you for your service!

Hey Robert,

I guess it's high time I got this on the bench.

I've never had any luck with Revell 1/72 armor rubber tracks so we'll see how this goes.

I rarely have a good result with rubber bands in any scale, but there is the blessing of modern era armor: side skirts to hit the bad connection.

You should have a good time with this Abrams though, I recall reading some good reviews of it.

I got the black primer on an then used Vallejo's Iraqi Sand. I added some extra field applied stowage hangers  and orderd some modern stoage from Black Dog which should be here is a few days.

After trying some new techniques I'm at this stage. I'm waiting for some stowage from Black Dog and also need to put on some antennas and such and spray a dust coat on it.

That is turning out really nice Steve.  What is your verdict on the kit so far?  I have never build an Abrams in 1/72 scale, thinking about rectifying that soon.

Thanks Robert.

Hmm, the kit itself is nice with a good fit, the only issue I have is those tracks. They just didn't fit and had some gaps. Luckly all the missing sections are hidden by the skirts. If I were to build it again I would not even bother with the return track or rollers. Unless you will have some missing skirts they are completly useless.

Other than that, nice kit.

Sure thing John, I have updated the list.

Ed, the Phantom still looks great.  The pilot was busy from the look of the markings by the intake...

I read a fascinating article about the service life of Phantom jets the other day, going on 60 years now and still in use around the world.

I completed my M1A1. The kit was fun but the tracks were a pain. I added some Gulf War US army stowage from Black Dogz. It required some modification but I think it looks alright.

Thanks for running this Robert. It was fun.

That looks AWESOME!  The storage set really makes it pop.  I had a similar experience with the Black Dog storage set for the Delta Force FAV, needed a little work to get the resin pieces to fit, but they took the model to the next level.

Thanks for joining, I am really appreciative to all who did so I can see these great projects..  Any preference on the picture for the wall?

I'd say 1, 4 or 6, your choice.

Thanks for running this Robbert. Nothing like a good Gulf War build!
