Mach1, Glad to see you have some more free time. I am looking forward to seeing this one come to life.

Mongoose: Aren't they though? Now that you mention it, it does kinda look like I rotated the radiator fans for the rear deck 90 degrees and glued it down in place of the firewall. Wink

Things have slowed down at work now, so I'll be able to spend more time at the bench. To celebrate, I got the wings fully assembled and painted.

I also started painting the belly pan and parts for the exhaust cans.

Glamdring

My tank factory, along with my PC, has been basically shut down all week due to illness but here were my results from the initial build session.

I finally had energy today to put some more work in on it today, but no major progress like before.  Handling the seams on the barrel occupied a good amount of that time.  So far, so good though.

Nice to see you are feeling better. Some progress is better than no progress, keep going.

Some photos of the assembly I've done. I'm working on assembling a lot before airbrushing.

As the version I'd like to do took part in the Battle of Stalingrad, here is a video about the battle for the history buffs:

Progess is looking good. Assuming the color is Panzer grey on this one? Has to be the scheme I like the best on German armor.

BK

Thanks, Brandon! It will indeed be Panzer Grey. :)

Got an opportunity to post some pics. Got the cockpit and fuselage halves put together.  Don't draw too much of a conclusion yet.  Anyone who has built one of these Eduard beauties knows that there are a lot more pieces to add to the cockpit that will fill the gaps.  It's certainly one of those "Trust us, it'll look better" kind of kits.

I cannibalized some left over PE for the side consoles and pirated an Eduard Look IP from another MiG-21 I have on the shelf.

Man, the Soviets sure do love their loud cockpit colors. The details look amazing. Can't wait to see more.

BK

Right??!!  I seem to remember reading somewhere that they did this color as it had a calming effect on the pilots.....Sure, why not?

Wow Steve. You are simply building on a whole new level with this one. Incredible realism as the way. I am stunned with your work always, but this one. Holy cow!!

Steve that weathering looks so realistic! seems you  can just blow the dirt off all that heavy steel plate.

Yeah, especially when it's ground in by sand

The Tornado has been building up nicely. The cockpit has been installed in the forward fuselage and I decided to paint it while I was waiting for glue to set on the landing gear.

I've also started on the aft fuselage and assembled the fuel tanks and ordnance.

Next up are the wings.

dang those tornados are square. Weird the way that belly pan looks, i'd almost think it was a tank if I didn't see the wing tanks and missiles there ha ha.  Great aircraft can't wait to see how this comes together with the full paints scheme

Kinda slowed down some since I've gone back to work after the hollidays. I've been working on the interior and painting detail. I have several decals to attach and then work on the cab.

I finally broke the seal on the M1A1 since last year's Paladin is drying, figure that's close enough to my commitment to not start a new kit until that one was done.

This kit is a typically well engineered Tamiya project.  I spent most of the day working o n it and am already on step 7 of 14.  (though I did skip the roadwheel and sprocket assembly in step 1 for the time being)

No pictures now, but I will get some up in the near future.

Not much new to show now that I'm back at the work grind. January's are like Monday's. All the fun comes to a sudden stop and you forget what you were working on before you left on Friday.

I worked some on the engine, adding the rust for the turbo and exhaust. The exhaust pipe wouldn't be that rusted that far down but you won't see alot of it. The turbo on the Cat on my Simi looked just like that though. I started on the ab and got some of the seat framing done. Nothing to show really.

That's awesome work!  I have some involvement on the finance side of maintainence on the 1:1 vehicles.  Interesting to actually see in scale format what other staff see live and in person.
