Some nice work going on here.

Castelnuovo - Love the A-4.  that is a great scheme for the scooter

Jacknewbill - Looking forward to what you can do with that kit.  The B-17 is a gorgeous airframe

Cbaltrin - I'm a big fan of Corsairs.  Nothing says WW2 Naval airpower like the sleek lines of a Corsair.  Good start on that kit

I've been able to squeeze a few hours in at the bench.  Did some final paintwork on the B-36 and have the last remaining pieces ready for final assembly.  I see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Ready for decals

Completed the prop and spinner assemblies.  Ready to mount after the powerplant decaling is completed.

Installed the most complicated landing gear assembly that I have ever encountered in modelling

After researching the B-36 u realized that this frame was not glass.  Had to fix that.

The B-36 has a lot of little 1/144 tires.  I wouldn't have even tackled this kit without my favorite circle cutter.

Made these perfect little circles a breeze

applied final paint detail

Got her up on her feet.  Looking the part now!

Back to work on the F4U-1-4-5N Wink

Since the canoy fit so poorly, I covered it with apoxie sculpt and sanded it down. No cockpit interior to see anyway..

cbaltrin

So here is an update on the Fujimi F4U-5N

1st , I had to buy a second kit as a wrecked the canopy of the 1st one. At least I would have a good propeller I thought... But No,  The 2nd kit arrived with a two bladed prop Crying.  Oh well, back to the original plan of fixing the 1st prop..

Since the kit comes with separate airlerons, I figured why not position the rudder and elevators as well. So I have been working on that. Filled in the gaps from the surgery with apoxie sculpt.

Now I just need to find some replacement tires. Seems to only accuracy requirement for the tires in this kit is that they be round. Sorry, I did not get a picture of the tires..

The Peacemaker?

There was no peace for me, The Family pressured me to finish the kit so's I could get it off the porch and out of their way. No Peace there. Neat Kit though, nice job so far!

Nice looking B17 there Jack, the shading has come up a treat.

Stunning work on the Peacemaker Phillie Phan - you have got a fantastic result with some complex NMF there. Those wheels and landing gear look like a handful to deal with and soooo many props there. Nice circle cutter too.

CN, fantastic result with the A-4. A nice bit of colour brightening up the build. Very neat paintjob and great decal work.

Cbaltrin, shame about the Corsair canopy, but as you say, nothing to see here…

Trabi, looks like a quick build kit with so few pieces….

My build of the Lola has been glacial over the last three months due to leave a work demands. The chassis etc is basically together as you can see here, but the body has still got nowhere. A lot of work to go there.

Cool car Lostagain.  Twice I have tried to build car models and both were shelved.

Final reveal of the B-36.  This model was a heavyweight and I went 12 rounds.  Could probably detail it a little more but honestly I'm tapping out.

Even in 1/144 she is my biggest subject.  Had to take it out by the pool for some pictures in natural light.

A nice addition to my 1/144 shelf

That B-36 is quite impressive. Very nicely done on that kit Philliefan!

I am calling the B-17 complete. I have to say the kit didnt dissapoint me until I got to the decals. I store my kits in a shed in the PHX heat. Its very hot/dry and I have not run into much trouble but this is an exception. The decals were completely shot and I had to handle them with insane amounts of care. I added a pic of the tail where I had real trouble and used some paint chiping to try to cover it up. All in all not a bad kit for under $20. I added just a small amount of fumes and opted for a bit lighter shade that looks more loke what I saw on real older aircraft (grey with slight yellow). This was a fun build thanks for letting me be part of the group!

JacknewbIII , Nice work on your B-17. I think it looks quite nice despite the decal mihsap, which, IMO, could easily be mistaken for normal paint pealing from the wear and tear of wartime operations!  Now, which photo would you like me to use on the wall?

That's a good B-17 Jack.  You recovered with the decals quite well.  Looks like weathering to me.

Well I worked up to it and finally got back on this Fujimi F4U-1/5N. I got the radome attached, plugged and redrilled some holes and am getting ready to black out the windows. I wish I could find some decent decals for it. May have to WIF if with some generic markings...

Looking the part now cbaltrin.  Something about a sea blue Navy bird.  Always looks sharp.

Phantom looks great in paint 68.  Hope you don't have 800 tiny decals like F4s tend to.

I do have a bunch if tiny decals, but I'm not sure how I'm going to get into it.  This kit is very old and basic so it might make it look better.  I'm very happy the Microscale decals from the 80s are still holding up.

I think it looks great. I don't go in for stencils on 1/72 jets.. then look overscale IMO.

Ok Gents, the Fujimi F4U-1/4/5N is complete! Now I don't have to face the shame of not completing an entry in my own GB!  Since the kit is more like a F4U-1(N) than a -5(N), I did not feel to bad for using decals from a F4U-4--so it's really a true "What If" job.

I had to do a few mods on the kit. The small details of the kit were rather crude representations of the real life items so I replaced the following items:

  1. Wheels (barracuda resin replacements)
  2. Guns (scrach build from various diameter of evergreen rod).
  3. Antenna made from styrene sheet.
  4. Oh yes, in case you forgot (how could you forget?). I covered the horribly fitting kit canopy (a dash 1 canopy BTW) with apoxie sculpt and sanded it to shape as best I could, then painted it black as there is nothing to see in there anyway!

I was actually surprised that the rockets in the kit were decent replicas, so I did use those...

Oh yea, I also repositioned the control surfaces, you know , just because...  Now, after doing all that work, It seems kinda silly looking with the flaps still up! Surprise

I painted with Tamiyia Acrylics.

EDIT: Ok,  Now it's actually done for real as I have attached the Pitot Tube and this will be the picture for the wall:

Congratulations 68GT! Wow, That is a great looking phantom! A very clean and sharp looking model. And I love that you put the box art in the photo.  Should I use picture #1 for the wall?

Thanks, figured I had to get that box in there.  It's still that 1965 kit with and upgrade of the landing gear and decals.
