Thank you both. Love to detail cockpits.

John, any advice abt the landing gear. The front ones do look very spindly? Need to replace them with something? Will they fail at some point? Especially if I have to move them around?

Oh, less than a dime!  All I did to the IP was paint it black and dry brush silver and add the kit supplied IP decal with Tamiya Decal solvent (mark soft?).

Oh wow that still looks great though! Love how the washes (I'm assuming) picked out the cockpit detailing. It's a friggin' shame to cover all that up. 

BTW: I ordered a pound of Silly Putty. Hopefully it will be enough to mask off the O-I.....

Thanks, I actually used Tamiya Smoke for the wash, with a bit on thinner and retarder thrown in. 

I am thinking about some what-if markings for my ki-61...

Primer - bit of work to do

Bravo! You're doing a fantastic job on her John! 

After doing some research I figured Tamiya  XF-76 was the color... looks way too green so I'll have to do something like an IJN grey over it.  Cowl is the right color from Mr Color.  Grrr...

I've thought some of the Tamiya colours look really off. 

Great work there and nice correction! 

More to come.  I cant let that seam on the nose go.  She's all cut up and I'm looking at Mr Color gray.  We will see.

One more coat - this time Mr Color 35 IJN Grey.  Better
