Ok, i started a hasagawa Crusader III tongiht in 1/72. I was going for out of box, however i think i will add new headlight guards made of fine wire.
I'll post soon, but this looks like a fun little kit.
Any good sugestions for british paint in north africa?

Last time I checked they were the only ones carrying S-Models.

T3488g - if you're thinking of doing a Ram Kangaroo ... Resicast has one but if you think $80 is high ... wait til you see this price.

Go ahead and count me in. I have one fo those Hobbycraft Challengers sitting on the shelf and needs an excuse to get built.

you all know me too well. the s-models ram is still out of stock. i might have to change my build...... i did see a ram kagaroo kit on some site, around $150 i think!!! probaly american dollars too.[:0] now what will i build..............

I'm not sure about subject yet. All of the British/Commonwealth stuff on my project list is Sherman-based--a Firefly, an Achilles, and a Kangaroo--but that's okay. I kinda feel like if I'm going to do a model for a group build, it should be one I'm doing for the group build, not one I was planning to do anyway. There's just a sort of zen rightness to it.

That or the paint fumes are getting to me.

At this point, I'm leaning toward a WWII armoured car of some kind, although there don't seem to be many kits available. Anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: I must have gotten the Google keywords right today. Put me down for an Accurate Armour 1/35 Humbar Mk I scout car.

Crossracer: Always liked the mid stone and black two-tone. Adds a little character to what can be a bit bland if all one colour-particularly if you are going to spread some sand as a base.

MarianLH. Nice choice - would love one of those but my wife complains about the cost of the injected plastic kits I get

Michael. Have to be the UC Carrier. The Firefly was a modified Sherman and does not fit the criteria we settled on. Sorry mate, seeing as the firefly is dear to your heart and all. If the Market garden build proposal goes ahead, your firefly will be perfect for that.

Warren. Check out the Small AFV GB. I recently posted pics of the extra detail so far added to my Daimler for that. Not too hard to do all that, just time consuming. 'Course OOB will be great anyway

Artorius: Good luck finding the Marmon. Would love to see one of those in here.

I'll be working in 1/72 scale so I won't be able to put as many details into my Daimlers as you're putting into yours, but I'll still try to add my own share of character.

That, safe to say, is a problem I won't ever have.

No kidding about the cost. But then, after PE, indy tracks, resin road wheels, and an aluminium barrel, my Sherman's gonna end up costing as much, even though I got the kit itself for $16. The Humber I can build out of the box.

id love to get a Humber scout car, but when i think about it i up the price to the Staghound and then up it more for the Archer then want the Comet and then i think, it will come out in plastic as soon as i get one so i change my mind

Can sum1 giv me an idea of what is out there that fits in the British/Comm sector but is available from Tamiya,Italeri,Dragon,Academy,Revell. in 1/35. I cant get anything else here and cant buy over the net. This would really help me. Thanx a lot. Appreciate the help.

OK, I'll commit to LRDG and/or SAS, North Africa, WW2.

I have been collecting Tamiya jeeps (SAS & US) & LRDG trucks, plus all sorts of parts & pieces & figures. I am shy of enough Chev trucks to make a full LRDG patrol but that's OK, I need to get rolling on all this ....

My preference is a 2-pdr en portee, but I gotta cut expenses !!!!

i have a 1/72 leopard 1 that i am painting as a canadian leopard, does this qualify for this build?i will probley be building more than just this though

John (Jratz). Portee would be interesting. The WW2 SAS Jeep was US designed and made so it is outside the guidelines. The post war SAS Pink Panther was a British long wheel base Land Rover ('pinkie' as opposed to their short wheel base 'dinkie') so that is why it is in the list.

I think the Chevrolet was also US made and designed but if the Chev was designed and made in Canada - that would be okay John. Can anyone confirm the Chev's origins?

T34. Once again the Leo is not British Commonwealth designed and manufactured - I think the Germans might object to our saying otherwise

Wayne. Heard the rumour too, but thought Ian might be further ahead than that. Well at least we can hope the Aussie Matilda arrives before September (aren't going to hold my breath though).
