Dan

I'm guessing from your signature that we're using the "blue" background badge you've attached to your signature?

Avus,
Good to hear from you as well! I hope all is well with you. I have been in a slump but now I'm back! It's cool that we're both in the two GB's. I will start this weekend with both of my birds! Once I have pics I'll post them. BTW, what color did you use for the interior on the huey?
Cheers

Dan I'm in Kung-Fu; last year I was "promoted" to instructor, i.e. a guy who helps the master teaching. (So don't you call me a cheater again!! Angry [:(!]Big Smile [:D])
I started building the kit this winter and then abbandoned it because of work and the Hind GB. So this GB was like a kick in my a.. to get started again.

Hi balta1 ! Good to hear from you again! Seems we are fellow builders in this and in the Huey GB.

Hello everyone!
Do you guys mind if I join the GB as well? I have a Minicraft 1/48 Blackhawk in my stash that I will use for the build.

I'm in with Academy's 1/35 Pavehawk. I'll use Eduard's PE Kit for the interior extrior and ammo chutes (when I will find them) and do some conversion for Block 152 upgrades.

I already have started working on the interior, and have detailed the miniguns. I'll post some pics in the next days.

Don't worry, with one wife and two kids, I'm kind of on a tight budget as well. Besides, scratchbuilding is the real kind of modeling. Smile [:)]

With school and my modeling addiction, habit, humm hobby, I really don't have much (any?) of a social life. Disapprove [V] I also don't have much of a budget, so any extra details are going to have to be scratchbuilt.Confused [%-)]

Aaron -

Good call on the MH-60A Velcro Hawk. Everyone does DAPs, Paves, Kilos, Seahawks or basic Blackhawks (and I'm just as guilty too). That one kinda ended up the forgotten child of the Blackhawk family. It's going to look cool in the Prime Chance color scheme!

I'm going to have to start early on my hawk since college starts up on the 23rd. I definitely won't have a lot of time to work on it once that happens. Anyway, I've settled on modeling a MH-60A Velcro Hawk based on the Academy MH-60L kit for this group build. However, I can't decide on whether to do a Direct Action Penetrator or a Prime Chance hawk that was painted grey to blend in with the Navy Seahawks. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.
Oh, I almost forgot, thanks Avus for the decals you sent me awhile back.

And in Italy we could use some of the Pilgrims' spirit. As usual a half way between the two appoaches would be the best!
I've seen your post about the desert scheme. As far as I have seen the desert camo scheme was used in ODS and on some helos in OEF, but in Irak they are all either Euro 1 or Gunship Gray.

As I said I already have done some work on my Pavehawk but I can't show you pics because I borrowed the DigiCam to my father and he went on vacation with it!
(BTW same thing goes for the Hind and Huey GB).

Yeah, that's my favorite icon too. It just looks nasty, dirty and mean - like a good Blackhawk should!

DUH - I totally forgot that Columbus was an Italian. Actually, I think that we might could use a more Italian approach to our jobs over here. Nothing wrong with the ol' Protestant work ethic, but c'mon - who on their death bed says as their final words, "Man, I realy wish I could have gotten some more work done."

BTW - I'm looking for info on the USAF's OIF desert camo some HH-60Gs carried if anyone out there knows about it.

Sorry guys wasn't home the whole week!

Actually it is no longer as bad as it used to be: a few years ago around the 15th of august Rome was a ghost city, many offices and companies closed for almost the whole month.
Now it's no longer as bad but you still have a hard time finding open shops!
Actually an italian discovered america, but then came august and no one wanted to go to work and so the pilgrim fathers got there first!Laugh [(-D]

Regarding the decals I still didn't work out a solution for the DAP ones. Maybe I'll really start looking for a used Alps printer!
HeavyArty suggested to put the stencils on a black background and then print the sheet on white decal paper. Currently I'm working on that.
This is a solution to the problem only if you are to paint your Blackhawk black.

How dare you make badges that look better than mine!!!
The second and the last look very good to me.

Wow, trigger, it seems to me, that will have hell of time choosing the icon for this GB.
I wonder if we won't have to postpone the startindate again, after all, with all these 'candidates' for GB-icon, the jury might need a lot of time to decide Smile [:)]

Avus

Is everyone taking off the month of August for vacation there? Well then why the Censored [censored] couldn't the Mayflower have come from Italy!

Getting closer on those Pave Hawk decals (Did I ever send you a proof?) Were you able to resolve the MH-60L decal opacity situation?

Actually this started in "Helicopters", and was supposed to start at July4th, however due to moving to this "Group Builds", we lost most of the people, interested.

This is why the date for starting to build is now set on September 1st, and ending in December.

So you are more than welcome with your Seahawk, the only request is that once the build has started, you regularily post pictures of your progress.

Enjoy...

I have a seahawk laying around that I could use for this, but looking I don't see any guidelines or even a firm start date. Sounds like most of this is in another thread?

The voting about the badge shall be held between August 15 and August 25, till then everybody is welcome to sugest an idea for badges.

And people, don't be scared by the Dark Avus, as a Wiccan I can protect you all against his Black Magic Big Smile [:D]

I just hope we get a few more participants for the build though.

Ok let's vote on the badge, but have a look at my signature I might do some magic if I'm not satisfied with the result! Big Smile [:D]

Yes it is adrakes picture; I just edited it a bit.
No, I still didn't find that Censored [censored] PE kit. Almost all shpos are closing for vacation in august so I will try again in september. Otherwise I'll order it directly from Euduard's.
Actually I already started working on the Pavehawk some time ago. So when the GB starts I'll have I've some advantage on you guys and I'll have some time to search for the kit.

Well, Avus that looks like a fine Badge to me, it looks like we have already two possible badges being the first one from ewc, and this one.
By the end of the month we could do a vote maybe, since we are being democratic here. Big Smile [:D]

ps: Isn't that the same picture u used as adrake ?

ps2 : Did you find that PE set you were looking for ???
